RTTS player is a third baseman on the Braves, NL rookie of the year. Then in the offseason got traded to the Cubs to sit behind reigning MVP Kris Bryant .

Don't understand that logic at all.

      Who were you traded for?

It may not make sense for you, but it might make sense for the Braves.

Of course this is a game, it's not real.

it moreso doesn't make sense for the cubs to trade for the rookie of the year to be stuck behind an all star

Re: Official MLB 18 : Road to the Show Thread

So I've noticed an issue with the shift. My player is an extreme push hitter. I believe I'm at 42%, 35%, 23% for L/C/R.

I'm a switch hitter so I normally am batting left handed. Well first off, those percentages don't change even when I'm batting right handed, so the game doesn't differentiate between what side of the plate you are hitting on when calculating where you have a tendency to hit the ball.

At those percentages when batting right handed it claims I'm a balanced hitter. However, teams just recently started using the shift on me when I bat right handed as if I'm an extreme pull hitter (I assume they aren't programmed to ever use an opposite shift for push hitters since extreme push hitters aren't very common so it doesn't really happen IRL as far as I'm aware). Now the problem is I'm near certain I'm a push hitter from both sides of the plate. I seem to be just late on everything this year so I'm constantly pushing everything.

So even though I'm batting right handed and likely to push the defense is playing me like I'm an extreme pull hitter. I just got a bloop triple because it landed just inside the RF foul line and the RF was shifted as if I'm an extreme pull hitter. Kind of an odd thing to happen.

I'm considering just moving to be a full time lefty or full time righty. I like batting lefty but righty has all the best/new no doubt HR animations (seriously they put in like 20 new ones but lefties got like no new animations. Don't understand why).

I'm currently on my 4th season... I played a year in the AA where I killed it, was traded to the tigers and played in the AAA for a year and a half where i killed it, was called up with 2 months left and managed to win ROTY, was traded again to the giants where I'm a backup even though I'm a 81 overall where I'm better thank every outfielder.... this makes absolutely no sense. Even as a backup three months in I lead my team in hrs and rbis. Someone please explain this because it's very very annoying and unrealistic

Could it be your fielding skills that are holding you back?

Well that's concerning. I'd rather be a AAA starter than be forced into riding the bench in the Show year after year. This is only a game, it's not the real world . Question: ignoring the mandatory position swaps we all go through in our first year, was there any times when the game pushed you into another position and you rejected it? If wonder if that is also in play. I guess you could ask for a trade but there is no guarantee that the new team will use you as a starter.

I was asked to try RF and I had no problem with it. They switched me back and I never was asked again. I've been playing this for years and never had this issue. I'm wasting my young years riding the bench lol

still don’t understand for the life of me why people are not using the manual save feature.

Get traded? Back out and load your save again. How in the hell do you allow yourself to get traded 3-4 times and still complain when all you have to do is back out

Manual saves are the reason my team hasn’t made a single bad trade or signing, in fact the opposite because of me reloading my saves (signed Machado, traded prospects for an elite closer etc)

Same here dude..... I have a safe file called "trade filter" that I save over after every series. Then I back out of RTTS and reload with the file that has the date. From series to series you wash and repeat. So I never have to go back more than 3 or 4 games and you don't have to worry about it after the trade deadline. At the very least.... I HIGHLY recommend doing this in July...as thats when the nonsense really starts. Cool thing is as long as you manage it your team can make some pretty good deals. I'm rolling with the Braves in the 2019 season and below is our team. Finished with 2nd or 3rd best record in NL and I start playoffs when I go home tonight.

You can also save your spot at end of season and sim the offseason as many times as you need. I don't do this necessarily to go for adding high quality free agents as I do to make sure they resign the players that they should resign.

This team will be fantastic in 2020 with Albeis, Swanson, Acuna all crawling into the low 90's overall I hope. They are mid to late 80's now.

I've been manual saving for ages, and yes manual saving is extremely important. But you will have a hard time convincing me that it can be used for every and all situations. A few weeks back I wanted to see if I could alter the two scenarios I was in where:

                                1) I accept a role change being moved a 2nd time from being a starter in the Pirates organization to being their closer.

                                2) I rejected becoming the Pirates closer and as a result was traded to the Padres who would allow me to be a starter.

In both cases multiple save files were used to try and alter the out come and I even tried both scenarios in MLB 17 as well as in MLB 18 since the pitcher in question was created in 17. No matter what I tried, it was always ended with the same results, on the exact same day in both MLB 17 and MLB 18. It was either accept the role change and stay with the Pirates to be their closer (which is insane who would make an 18 year old rookie who can only throw 94 mph and is still working on his control as the closer on an MLB team), or be traded to the last place San Diego Padres where run support would be almost non-existence but at least I could continue playing the game as a starter. Multiple save files made no difference.

Right now where I find the most value in manual save files though is with my training. Often it will take many retries, but I have been able to get the highest priority training item to eventually show up after many many many reloads. All except for last night when I tried to get the "Plate Discipline" CAP to be increased on my RTTS AA 2B player. He is presently maxed out on the current CAP and I gave up after about 1/2 an hour of trying and a good 15-20 reloads and chose to increase my Power Attributes and some sort of Arm Strength upgrade instead. I guess I am at a certain stage where the scripting of this game just won't let me work on my plate discipline.
