Re: Official MLB 18 : Road to the Show Thread

Just started a new 1B RTTS, bat first to start, that I think I'll actually carry on a long ways. Was drafted 2nd overall in the 25th round to the Giants, and now at June 5th, 56 games played, and a 62 ovr in the first season. Playing on All-Star everything with Armor's sliders. No strike zone, hot zones, or guess pitch with buttons and directional hitting.

So after those 56 games im hitting .332/.366/.562 with 25 runs scored, 19 doubles, 2 triples, and 9 dingers along with 41 RBIs. Also 12 walks and 18 Ks so (surprisingly) my discipline at the plate isnt too bad at all.

The weird thing is the Giants traded Belt to Philadelphia for Seranthony Dominguez and the minor league 1st baseman Bill Francisco, so I'm actually the highest rated 1st baseman in the Giants organization, but they have Nick Hundley playing 1st for now. That being said, Richmond has Francisco playing 1st with me DHing in DH games, with Francisco on the bench when there's no DH.

I'm also the leading vote getter in all of MiLB so far at 400K, so hopefully with our team at 26-31 right now, I can get a promotion at some point this season.

Speaking of promotion, just started the game up and the first thing that happens is they call me up to the bigs. Skipped AAA completely for now, no joke.

Just played my first game with San Francisco. 4-4, 3 singles and a solo home run. I swear I have it on All-Star.

Re: Official MLB 18 : Road to the Show Thread

I just finished out my career.

Made it to 45 before "no team wanted to take a chance on a player your age". I mean, I still had 99 contact v. both lefties and righties, and 62/58 power v. both, high 60's fielding stuff and low 60's speed. I think I was still 91 overall, and could've played another season (I'd actually just decided to make that upcoming season my last). But still, a very fulfilling career.

I simmed a lot of my minor league career, only stayed down until mid 2019, then played two or three games of every few series in the majors, I don't have enough patience to play every game, even in franchise, though I'd like to at some point.

I wish I had written down my exact career stats, because I made the Hall by a mile playing on HoF/Legend difficulty. Granted I did sim a lot but I use Hybrid rosters and really difficult/realistic sliders for both playing and simming. I remember that my career batting average was .316, and I flirted with .400 in my last two seasons but never actually hit it.

If I can re-enter the mode and see my full statline I'll come back and post it. This was a fun ride, most invested I've ever been in RttS, and also showed that you can still put up some gaudy numbers even with the archetypes.

I don’t think that this is true because I’m a second baseman, you can tell it’s me because the name is John Marston (Red Dead Redemption) and I have a quirk, I’m only on my second year of MLB with rookie difficulty. It’s called quick reflexes and shows a icon of a cat an a ball. Would show a picture but can’t figure out how to do that?

I remember reading something a while back about them adding more story elements etc at a later date. Have that happened yet?

I'm in my first season as a full-time MLB Starting Pitcher. I've been traded not once, not twice, but FOUR times this season.

Opening Day through 30th May: Los Angeles Dodgers
1st June-5th July: Kansas City Royals
6th July-29th July: New York Yankees
                30th July: Milwaukee Brewers

                I'm an All-Star, 86 overall, B potential. What gives?
                NCAA: Minnesota, Minnesota St-Mankato
                NBA: Wolves
NHL: Minnesota North Stars (undefeated since 4/16/93), Wild
                MLB: Twins, Dodgers
                NFL: Vikings
                MLS: Minnesota United
                Premier League: Manchester United

Sometimes you can veto a trade by simply not saving your RTTS file after the trade and sometimes the game will force you into a trade no matter how many times you exit and reload your save file. So it's possible that you could have veto'ed some or all of these trades, though 4 seems rather excessive.

Pretty sure it's at default. Can't recall having ever touched that one.

I turn it down like 3 notches and then don't touch it, cuts down on dumb trades and i feel like you wouldnt have been traded 4 times with that.

This is a total noob question but I just picked up 18 and hadn't played 17 in quite a while...

Playing as an infielder, has anyone else had issues simply fielding the ball when it's hit slightly off to the side of you? I'll try basically just tapping the left thumb stick to shuffle a little bit over to make the play and instead my player just doesn't acknowledge that the ball is even there and will literally just let the ball roll between his legs without moving at all. I remember this was an issue for me in 17 for a little while too, but I eventually figured it out. Am I supposed to just not react to these hits and it will automatically field them?

For what it is worth I posted this in the mlb 19 thread.
So I have a carry MLB 17 rtts.

Backstory: I made a RF and ended up going to the Miami Marlins. I killed it in aa & aaa ball in the 1st season.

In triple A they advised me to try 1st base. SMH

Got called up in August 2017 to Majors despite a crowded OF (i see why they wanted me at 1b )
Marlins had Carlos Gonzalez, Stanton, and Ichiro in RF, Cam maybin and Christian yelich in CF and Ozuna in LF.

I was a 76 ovr by the time I got called up. Power hitting 1B convert. I hit 16 home runs in 34 games.

2018 & MLB 18 was my official rookie year. I chose MR. Reliable as my archetype. I had 80 SPD 80+ power. It made the most sense if I was gonna lose anything to lose those stats by around 10 points.

I used Mike lowes sliders and played on all star zone hitting. And won every personal award. Played all my appearances & Finished the year 7 hrs short of Barry bonds record. I was mad I played 1b all year because Marlins traded away all their OFs besides maybin and Stanton. Ichiro retired, cargo traded for Mike moustakas, yelich traded for Starlin Castro,

                            .391 67hr 171rbi 36 sb as a 86 OVR

We made the playoffs by a hair winning 7 of our last 11 games. Squeezing in the wild card spot in the 3rd to last game. We won the wild card. But lost in the NLDS to the Dodgers.

I created a save point for the beginning of 2019.. for mlb 19

But I also got nosey and played my 2019 year. I got traded to white Sox's. Who ended up Nabbing Bryce Harper, aj pollock, still have the ToddFather, also got andrelton Simmons the SS. We had the #1 defense Simmoms and yoan moncada are amazing up the middle.

But the reason I made this post. Going into September 2019 we were 4th in very tight AL central. At one point 4 of us were within 1 game of each other. We ended up winning the division. 83-79 Winning 10 straight, but that's not all. We went on to sweep the Angel's 3-0 and the red Sox 4-0. So I am walking into the world series with my White Sox's winning 17 straight games. All played. Most iconic moment game 4 of ALCS.. bottom 9> 2 outs> bases empty
my guy is up score tied 4-4 work a 3-2 count and hit a walk off blast to win the ALCS at home. The cutscene were amazing.

I finished the 2019 regular season only winning silver slugger 1b. I upped to Hof, and hit .312 43 hr 121 rbi 20 sb

Just wanted to update you guys on my RTTs I'll Probably just make a new guy in addition to carrying over this guy. Because 1B is just so boring
