Head movement against the AI is pretty much useless after the patch

I'll preface this by saying I don't play online strictly offline against the AI on pro which gives me a pretty good challenge all around. I have no patience for online or playing human beings with a win at all cost attitude.

Head movement just does not work well against the AI after the 1.05 patch. I get why they changed it because of the online abuse, but it really sucks that us offline users pretty much can't use a highly touted new feature because online players were taking advantage of flaws in the system. I was not abusing this feature and neither was the AI.

I wish their was a feature where we could use separate tuners of our choosing.

The problem with the head movement now is that you have to time it so perfectly for it to be effective. If your even slightly early on it one bit your counter has absolutely no effect. I've found that since the patch the only counters that work out of head movement are straight punches. Hooks are pretty much useless at this point. The AI simply punches to fast and are not as predictable as a human player.

Oh well I have already moved on and built new defensive techniques using block and range fighting against the AI. I just wish we lived in a world where offline players weren't subjected to having to play an online nerfed game. On a positive note I am loving every other addition from the new tuner sets.

I've been able to use head movement pretty effectively against the AI.

^ same here and i love that the AI starts going for your body if you’re using head movement as your primary defense.

UFCblackbelt, are you able to use hooks off of sways effectively? So far I haven't been successful they don't interrupt combos and have no stopping power it seems. Any tips?

It’s only no stopping power if you lead with them

Head movement is now a defensive tool instead of an offensive one. So you have to read your opponenet and dodge their strike to get a counter

Swaying different strikes gives different frame advantage. Sway an uppercut/hook and you can hook/uppercut. Sway a jab or straight and you can straight or block.

This is the difference in a nutshell.

You need to start throwing them after you've made a strike whiff, not before.

You also don't want to throw them.off slipped jabs as you'll get chewed up by the follow up, generally only try a hook counter after you slipva hook, overhand, kick or upper.

And finally, I love the new headmovement/The way the AI reacts. It makes reads now, I was fighting Till and he was spamming straights so I was starting to sway predictably as he came in and he kicked me in the head.

Same with if you start ducking a few times the AI will start throwing uppers, I really like it.

Pro difficultly is VERY good at slipping and countering, too. If you want a realistic, slower paced fight with a less reactive AI, I HIGHLY recommend hard. I much prefer that over pro personally.

This is very good info. I did not know this.

It’s strange - in fight night champion i was a god with headmovement - in ea ufc i just cannot seem to master it / it’s really the only aspect of the game i have not seemed to master .

Maybe this video will be useful to you. There are many new details as to how head movement works.

Glad to hear I’m not the only one. I absolutely never use head movement. That video was helpful, but I still don’t see myself using it much.

Yeah man. I played extensively tonight, even watched solids video for some tips. Unfortunately I just don't think I am as good as him. I think my problem stems from this new "minor" head movement addition. I go to make a quick sway expecting a regular one and I am getting the minor one which is throwing my timing off quite a bit. I am going to keep working on it but as of right now it's not a very functional mechanic for my skill level
