Tearz49ers Presents: This Is Texas (NCAA Football '14)

    Platform: PS3

    Mode: Heisman

Rosters: NCAA Football 14: 2017-18 Roster Update

    Sliders:

Gameplay Preferences: QTRS- 8 Mins, Home Field Advantage- Off, Ice The Kicker - On

Red Shirts: I can only Redshirt players that are true freshman, a maximum of 10 true freshman can be redshirted per year.

Transfers: Players will be thoroughly examined before being accepted. Any player who is persuaded into staying must start following year, except following positions: QB, MLB, K, P

Players Leaving Early: I can only talk 3rd year players into staying (I.E. RS Sophomore or True Junior), however I am not allowed to try and sway a 4th year players into staying (I.E. a RS JR).

Cutting Players: I must write down all stats of any players cut, and re-create them as a JUCO recruit in the following years class.

Freshman: True freshman are given an additional 15 pounds during their first preseason to recreate the muscle they would gain in a S&C program. This is optional for following positions: QB, HB, WR, K, P, CB, FS.

Credits: Credits go to cfjunkie, matt10, Cheese2121, ToySoldier, ID, Deegezy, St.Fransisco, TBMiz, and many more for inspiring some of the creative work in this dynasty. Even if they had no impact on this specific dynasty, they have impacted my chising and my ideas in the past and deserve to be mentioned.

Prologue: So after 11 strong years my PS3 that I purchased over in the USA when I was 17 sadly took its final breath and went to console heaven around the midway mark in May thus taking my Kentucky dynasty with it. Whilst I have a of console save of the dynasty, that sadly was from the previous season and I am not in the mind frame to retrace my steps for that dynasty at this current stage, maybe one day because I was building something special down in Lexington.

With that said, I took it upon myself to purchase a new PS3 last week all to start a new report, after getting the bug back to create something new and special and what better way to do it than with my favourite college football team, the Texas Longhorns.

This dynasty will begin at the start of the 2017-2018 season with Tom Herman going into his first year. I have chosen to use a challenging slider set in order to make the games harder to win and I will be making this dynasty more realistic in terms of injuries (after hardly ever having injuries in my Kentucky report), and all round general dynasty running will be more fun and more realistic as I have said.

Hope you all enjoy what is about to come your way.

Please do not post yet, thankyou

Following? Yup! Huge Texas fan here and love the work you do. I am very tempted to start my own Texas dynasty but I wouldn’t be documenting it. Glad to see a Longhorns dynasty here!

**Home / College Football / Texas Longhorns Spring Football Preview
**By Greg Owens, 3/7/17, 9:30AM EST

                        **

Texas' football has slogged its way through seven long years. Since the Longhorns last played for a national championship at the end of the 2009 season, they have rarely sniffed at anything respectable and a two year stretch without a bowl trip just topped off what has been a very sad few years for the Longhorns faithful.

The Mack Brown era came to an end after the 2013 season and the high heat on the Longhorns coaching seat has claimed another casualty in Brown's replacement Charlie Strong, who could only muster a 16-21 record in three dismal seasons in Austin. With Strong gone, and another chance at redemption the Longhorns athletic department did not make the same mistake they did when they didn't hire the last "top" target in Nick Saban and in fact wasted no time at all in hiring rising star Tom Herman to reinvigorate the program.

The spring game will give the Longhorn faithful their first look at how Herman plans to get things back on track, but before that there are a few key story lines that we need to look at before the Orange and White take the field.

Five Storylines to Watch During Texas' Spring Practice

                        1. Buying into the new regime

Both Mack Brown and Charlie Strong had their own way of doing things down in Austin and so will Tom Herman.

Herman will need to have a long hard look at his roster and sort the strong from the weak, whilst doing that he will need to figure out who is on board with his style and who isn't because a fair amount of his inherited talent was all recruited by Charlie Strong and his coaching staff.

The feeling out process will start in a few short weeks.

                        2. Who is Herman's guy under center?

Shane Buechele's freshman season started off well and everyone believed that the Longhorns had finally found their long term quarterback answer (At least the first since Colt McCoy anyway!) but towards the tail end of the season his play raised yet more doubts about whether or not the Longhorns had "their guy".

The Longhorns last four games ended with three losses in which Buechele threw for four touchdowns and five interceptions, and whilst that normally wouldn't be enough for people to start raising the question of a potential change in the guard the fact he average a mere 6.2 yards per passing attempt will do just that.

Incoming true freshman Sam Elingher's senior season at Westlake High School ended with a broken wrist in a 55-15 victory over Laredo United and whilst that is a potential "breaking" point for Tom Herman, you only have to look at Elingher's career numbers to put your mind at rest as to whether or not this kid can ball, and despite only playing five games in his season season, Ehlinger finished with Westlake career records for passing yards (7,375), passing touchdowns (89) and total touchdowns (126), career numbers that surpassed Drew Brees and Nick Foles who are both former Chaparrals now playing in the NFL.

Just like the Roman's used to, throw these two into a pit and let them compete for that starting job.

                        3. Evaluating the running backs

Last season you don't have to look any further than D'Onta Foreman's end of season's average of 29.4 carries per game to say the now NFL departed tail back pretty much carried the Longhorns offense.

With Foreman now gone it will likely be down to Chris Warren to step up and take over, however he is coming back from a season-ending injury. Kyle Porter could be another guy who could stake his claim to the starting role along with true freshman's Daniel Young and Toneil Carter.

                        4. Malik Jefferson!

Jefferson could well be the Longhorns best defensive player but he hasn't quite made the leap everyone expected between his freshman and sophomore seasons. The now junior will need to find the spark that drew the nations attention during his freshman campaign should he want to start making people talk at the next level.

Who knows, maybe a change at the top will re-energize Jefferson in what could potentially be his final year in Burnt Orange.

                        5. Fitting into the new defense

As Herman’s defensive coordinator at Houston, Todd Orlando oversaw a hard-hitting, aggressive unit that thrived on causing chaos. The Cougars’ blitzing style led to plenty of stops in opposing backfields.

Orlando has the spring to assess how the personnel he is inheriting will work within his preferred philosophy.

Pre-Spring Outlook for Texas in the Big 12

Boom Williams Under Charlie Strong the Longhorns played sloppy ball on defense and lacked a clear direction on offense and that is the reason they didn't make a single bowl game during the last two season's of his tenure.

With that being said Tom Herman isn't inheriting a roster that lacks talent.

Herman has to hope that what has worked so well for him at Houston can be mirrored here in Austin. There are plenty of questions to be answered during this spring and whilst spring ball will not confirm if the Longhorns can make it back to where they used to be, it will help give the faithful a vision on where their team is.

The Longhorns will once again take the field with one of the most talented squads inside the Big 12. Yet, the residual effects of all the recent upheaval in and around the program will probably make the upcoming season a bridge year to bigger and better things in the near future.

                        How it Works:
                        - There are 5 Spring Practices and a Spring Game
                        - Each practice consists of four 5 minute periods
                        - As many plays will be run in the five minute stretch as possible
                        - At the end of each stretch, the depth chart will be adjusted
                        - Depth chart per practice will be created prior to practice
                        - Practice will be run in a coach mode style

Home / College Football / Texas Longhorns Spring Football Coverage
By Greg Owens, 4/5/17, 11:30AM EST

Austin, TX-- Going into spring, there was a lot of optimism around campus that 2017 could be the year that the Longhorns make a surge towards the top again, the roster looks to be full of talent with a good mix of young guys and veterans.

It hasn't all been exciting stuff this spring for new head coach Tom Herman and his coaching staff, there has been some really good sessions and some really bad ones but in the end the positives out way the negatives.

Shane Buchele Impressed, Still Not The Starter -- The sophomore quarterback was the favourite for the starting role over true freshman Sam Elingher coming into Spring football and the more "veteran" of the two quarterback's has impressed both on and off the field with his leadership. Despite clearly being the superior quaterback, Buechele still won't be named the starting quarterback by Tom Herman going into the Spring Game.

Why might that be? Well because the true freshman Elingher is still making all the right moves himself. Yes he is raw, and yes his young and he has made a few mistakes that everyone expected but you simply can't rule of the kid's field awareness and it is clear to see that Tom Herman isn't ready to rule out starting the freshman against Maryland.

Freshman RB's Show They Can Step Up -- With Chris Warren picking up a knock that has limited his touches of the football it has been the two true-freshman Daniel Young and Toneil Carter that have stepped up. Daniel Young looks like the more polished back (should either be called into action this year) but Carter isn't that far behind.

Depth Along O-Line A Clear Issue -- Yes Texas has plenty of depth, but is it the depth you can rely on to step up if called upon.. Based on the few practaces we have sat in for then the answer to that is No!

The likes of J.P. Urquidez, Terrell Cuney and Denzel Okafor have all struggled against the Texas first team defense.

Collin Johnson A Clear #1 -- Texas has been looking for that true #1 receiver for quite sometime and so far it is the 6-foot-6 sophomore Collin Johnson who is miles ahead of the pack.

Johnson's frame and ability to go up and get the ball has proven a matchup nightmare, even when Tom Herman stuck his best defensive back DeShon Elliot into man coverage.

Lets hope this is a sign of things to come for Johnson.

Locke And Thompson Do Battle -- There is a nickel corner position up for grabs on this Texas defense and their is a clear battle between junior P.J. Locke and true freshman Josh Thompson.

"It is healthy to have this type of competition," head coach Tom Herman said on the matter. "These two guys have balled out this spring and will both get a fair shot at the starting role going into the Spring Game. Clearly P.J (P.J. Locke) is the most veteran but Josh is showing awareness beyond his age and it is a credit to this team that this type of battle is taking place."

Looks like it’s going to be a very crowded, yet talented backfield in the next few years. Even Porter is pretty good as just a sophomore, so it will be super interesting to see how you handle the development there.

On a side note, please make Lil’Jordan a star!
