Man I cannot tell you enough how hyped up I was for this game. There was no way I was going to lose this one. I was more dialed-in for this one than any other game I can remember.

Hopefully we can keep the momentum rolling next week, as Arkansas typically plays us very close.

I am really loving this 2026 Tulane squad.

Regardless of that happens or not, playing for another SEC title would be a large step in the right direction. Keep your foot on the gas and finish this season strong!

Another question: how long does it take you to play a game, edit the photos and complete the write up? And the specifics you have in the game review, I have to assume you have a notepad on hand at all times to write down some key notes. Great stuff as always my man!

Thanks man...We still have national title dreams, especially with all the ranked teams we still have left, including a game against current #2 UCLA. I could see a 1-loss Tulane team surpassing some of the undefeated teams when all is said and done. You're right though; it feels good just to be back in SEC title contention again.

As for your question - I have my entire process down to a science timing-wise, and yes, I keep the Notepad application open on my computer while playing. Most of my reporting time boils down to short 20 to 25 minute intervals, situated around weekday mornings after the wife and kids leave for work/school/summer camp and before I have to go to work.

I usually play the game either on a Friday night or Saturday afternoon. The game itself usually takes about 90 to 100 minutes, depending on how many times I have to stop. While playing, I snap cut scene photos if I see anything that I think would look cool, such as the shot of McBride taunting the Bama sideline. I also jot down a few notes that I think could be useful later but will lose access to once I exit the game - mainly drive info (# of plays, possession time) or random events that happen that I may not remember how or when it happened - for instance, I'd make a note like "INT by Blalock led to TD drive that made score 21-7."

Once the game ends, I go in and look at some highlights and snap 5 to 10 more photos just to make sure I have enough for my report (I really need to trim this portion down a bit IMO, but it's hard to!)

I am a very early riser, so usually I get up on Sunday at 5:00am and get to work with putting the report together. The first order of business is jotting down all the stats and creating the box score. I may even knock it out right after I play the game sometimes, just depending on my mood (usually by the time I am done with a game though, it's time to go do some "real life" things lol). The template for my stats and box scores is already ready for me, so that literally takes me only about 15 to 20 minutes, tops.

Then I get to work on the Around the NCAA section, which takes another 20 minutes to creating my tables and jot down scores. Then I upload my photos and start editing those. That process itself takes up a solid 30 minutes. And that's usually a good stopping point for me on Sunday.

Then Monday morning, before work, I will take the time to come up with headlines and subtext for my game report along with captions for my pics before eventually starting the article-writing. Then, another break.

Tuesday morning, I finish the article-writing, proofread it, and post either that morning or during down time at work.

In all - I am probably spending between 3 and 4 hours per game on playing and reporting on the game itself.

Wednesday morning, I edit my next opponent's equipment and start putting together my game preview. Maybe once every 2 to 3 weeks I may create some random news blurbs or tweets if I am in the mood or have time.

Thursday morning, I finish of my game preview and get it ready to post and maybe get a little 15 minute practice mode session.

Friday morning, I get one more practice mode session in.

Friday night or Saturday afternoon, it's game time.

          Rinse and repeat.

It's been a little harder to keep up the game per week pace as of late though, so some weeks, it is spread out a lot more depending on what I have going on, and I have been more so on a one game per 1 1/2 to 2 weeks pace as of late.

Appreciate it man. I knew going into this one that our best shot at winning would be to establish the run. Every team that's played them close this season has done so, and looking back at my games with them over the years, we've had our most success when establishing a strong running game. It all came together perfectly for this one.

Jimmy McBride and Anthony Brown have been two of the most fun players I have had to date.

You're exactly right....Arkansas is always a tough out for us. 5 of our last 6 meetings have been one possession games, and they also beat us the last time they played us at the dome two seasons ago. We have our work cut out.

Haha...I am glad someone caught the bit about Deuce and Geezy hugging it out and squashing things after the game. I am really going to miss that storyline with him. As much as I hated to see him leave, it sure was fun having that element added to our rivalry.

Thanks for the fact-check fellas; I have edited the post. Not sure how I did that. What's crazy is that I actually took the time a couple of days before writing the report to see who the record holder was previously and knew it was Shaun Alexander. I just straight up had a brain fart there and had Ingram on the mind while writing the article for some reason.

Glad you enjoyed it...The pace I am playing at right now has been incredible for me. It has kept things fresh, making each game feel like a big event, just like real life. Also, the feeling of recruiting a player and literally having him on your team and in your life for a solid 2 years of real time, sometimes more, makes things feel a whole lot more realistic. Would you believe it if I told you that I got a hard committment from current-redshirt junior QB Jimmy McBride all the way back in September of 2016?!

I still have no idea how I played 9 seasons over the course of 11 months years ago on the Part I report. This Part II project just turned three years old this month, and I am only in the 8th season of it!

Game 9, Yr. 17 Preview (2026 season): #17 Arkansas Razorbacks at #6 Tulane Green Wave

                GAME 9 PREVIEW

                Courtesy

Latest Line (courtesy Bovada - Las Vegas):

                ....................8 ....................

2025: LEFT - Redshirt sophomore QB Jimmy McBride had his best performance of the season, throwing for a career-high 413 yards and accounting for 5 total touchdowns (3 rushing, 2 passing). | RIGHT - WR Adam Lawson also shined in last year's contest, catching receptions for 262 yards and 2 scores.

Last Meeting: Then-#13 Tulane trailed then-#20 Arkansas 24-21 at halftime however got big plays from its offense and strong defensive play in the second half on its way to defeating the Razorbacks 38-31 last season in frigid Fayetville. Then-sophomore QB Jimmy McBride threw for 413 yards and account for 5 touchdowns while then-sophomore WR Adam Lawson exploded for 9 receptions for 262 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Wave improved its record to 8-2 on the season. The game marked the 5th time in the past 6 meetings between the two schools that the game was decided by a one possession point-margin.

2024: The contest versus Arkansas two seasons ago marked the final appearance of then-senior QB Bryce Allen's career at Tulane, as an abdominal injury ended up costing him the remainder of a senior season in which he missed 10 games in total.

Last Meeting at Venue: Two years ago, then-#17 Tulane watched a 24-17 halftime lead turn into a 41-24 fourth quarter deficit before ultimately falling to unranked Arkansas 41-38 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The win for the Razorbacks was its first ever at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome over the Green Wave since the Wave made its return to the SEC in 2014. After former Green Wave QB Bryce Allen exited the game in the second half with an abdominal injury that virtually ended his collegiate career, the Razorbacks began to dominate and built up its large lead. Former Arkansas RB Josh Collins bulldozed his way through Tulane's defense, rushing 25 times for 123 yards and 3 touchdowns while former WR Troy Bray caught 5 receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown, as Tulane lost its second contest to the Razorbacks in the two teams' last six games.

2016: TOP ROW - Tulane RB Reggie Moore took a jet sweep handoff into the open field, broke one defender's tackle attempt, and spun away from another defender on his way to a season-long 53-yard touchdown run which made the score 28-10 in the third quarter. | BOTTOM ROW: Moore's spectacular third quarter continued just a couple of possessions later. This time, the then-junior all-purpose phenom caught screen pass from QB Jamie Manning, outran one defender and left Arkansas FS Steve Dunlap grasping for air with a spin move on the way to a 51-yard touchdown that blew the game wide open at 35-10 with 0:51 remaining in the period.

Last Meeting (Legacy Classic): #4 Tulane got an extremely efficient performance out of former QB Jamie Manning along with 2 touchdowns from legendary RB Reggie Moore on the way to routing unranked Arkansas 42-17 in 2016 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Manning finished the contest 21 of 27 for 260 yards and 4 touchdowns while Moore accounted for 126 yards from scrimmage and 2 touchdowns as the Wave improved to 9-1 during their 2016 national championship chase.

The SEC is a true grind. Arkansas has given Tulane trouble in the past, hopefully they're done celebrating beating Bama and focusing on cooking some hogs. You'd like to see Pearson have a good game against that O-Line, but I'm sure they've gameplanned to have Foster escape the pocket ASAP.

I enjoyed the look in to your process. It is interesting to see our similarities and differences. For example, while I play I have word open on my computer. I take notes on each drive (offensively and defensively). Many notes may go unused, but they are very handy when writing up the report. I'm still amazed by how much depth you go into, especially in your previews. It makes me wish I had a more organized system when I started out, so I could do the same (too much digging to match it now lol). Going years back not only with scores, but pictures too, it's a thing of beauty. The immersion is top notch, and your pics make me wish I had a capture card/computer that would work with one (I have a chromebook). I'm lucky though, I can get the game in, do the box score, and everything usually in one afternoon.

What you said about gaming once a week is great too. You have a great point, it's nice to see a guy on your roster for 2 real life years. You start to develop an attachment to your players. I've also noticed with a slower pace of play (I'm in season 10 over 3 years), you actually start to remember almost everyone! lol When I was younger, I would go through a season sometimes in a week. By the time a dude graduates, you've barely come to remember his first name. Now, I feel like my star receiver Ryan Newhall has been around forever, and I'll miss him.

On to more important things. I like your DL matchup with their OL. You should be able to wreak havoc and control the line of scrimmage. I'm also really liking your matchups in the passing game. Your speed should really pay dividends, and I see a big game for McBride. Come in focused and steamroll then, as revenge for their win in your house last time. Your boys should come in motivated after a big win of your own.

On another note: Holy crap, Brown and Lawson are just torching it on the ground and in the air, respectively. Almost 7 yards/carry and a 22 yard/catch average is insane. That yards per carry is a testament to a good offensive line.

Cool to see your process. I think I'm gonna have to start taking notes during games. I often write reports a day or 2 after the game, usually not as detailed as what you do, but it's all from memory. Idk why I've never thought to just take a few minutes during or after the game to summarise it.

Yes they typically play us very close. I don't expect this one to be a walk in the park. As mentioned in the preview, 5 of our last 6 meetings were essentially decided by one possession, and they beat us two years ago in the dome.

If there is one thing the 55-52 double overtime home win over Kentucky a few weeks back taught us, it's that no game in this dynasty is a gimme.

I agree with your OL/DL assessment. Since coming in as a blue chip recruit years ago (by the way, this guy was signed all the way back in August of 2016), Pearson has been a solid player overall, but has been somewhat of a mild disappointment in the sack department in his career, with his 6 sacks as a true freshman being a career-high. The 3-4 isn't really condusive to defensive ends racking up sacks, so hopefully the mid-season scheme change back to a 4-man front sets him up for a strong finish to his career.

That's a great point about remembering everyone. When I go back and look at some of my early years of this dynasty, when I was knocking out entire seasons within a month or so, there are so many players whose names I have straight up forgotten about. I don't foresee that being the case here.

I strongly recommend the capture card to any dynasty reporter; I can't live without it and I can't express enough just how much more real-life everything feels with it, not to mention the ease of use. That said, I do like the old school pictures from the early years of this dynasty. It kind of "dates" everything and makes events from 10+ years ago actually look old, especially with some of the older-looking equipment the players had on in the pics and with them being from back in the day when most football players actually wore the full jersey sleeves instead of the tight sleeves of today. Those are truly an eyesore when I see them in a game now, and I edit them out for all my opponents. lol

Something else worth pointing out about the slower pace of play is that you become a lot more intimate with your knowledge of the recruiting classes and a lot of the stars around the nation whose names pop up during the season on the game headlines and such are guys you vividly remember either recruiting or seeing in the recruiting pool while also allowing for time to report on those pursuits. Almost every team I come across has a player I once purused and/or I reported on pursuing. For instance, Arkansas' top rated player, DT Ricky Freeman, is someone we nearly signed. And, also each of their top 3 cornerbacks - Josh Ramsey, Aaron Robinson, and Joe Hollins - were all pursued by Tulane and reported on. Looking back at that stuff, or sometimes merely just remembering it, adds a LOT of immersion for me.

Both you and Knickerbocker have pointed out the OL vs. DL matchup and I believe you may be right and it is something to keep an eye on the rest of this season. Defensive line pressure should go up now since we all but scrapped the 3-4 a couple of weeks back when Dunbar was fired.

Glad you brought up WR Adam Lawson. One thing I failed to mention in my game preview is that in two career games versus Arkansas, Lawson has caught a total of 19 receptions for 537 yards and 5 touchdowns! Look for us to take full advantage of his skillset in this one and to try to continue that trend.

Idk why I've never thought to just take a few minutes during or after the game to summarise it.

Yeah I used to do it that way and it felt like my reports were too generic as I didn't have very much granular detail to mention in my game articles. This could be a good thing or bad thing though because it's a balancing act - you want to take good notes, but you also don't want to disrupt your game flow too much. 3 or 4 little nuggets, at least for me, is usually enough.

No kidding. The time has absolutely flown by. We literally just passed the two year anniversary of me making the post announcing that Ryan Jean was forgoing his senior season. The time lapse has been just incredible.

Agreed...if I ever find the time to create another dedication page like the one I have for Reggie Moore, he may be the one that gets it. Jean, Moore, QB Jamie Manning, and of course, Coach Geezy, are the Mt. Rushmore of this dynasty.

Thanks all for the excellent feedback as always, not just here but throughout the entire course of this project. It certainly has helped keep me motivated.

Time to get this game with Arkansas started and hopefully we can get this division clinched for the first time in what feels like forever ago!

For the second consecutive time Arkansas marches into the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and defeats Tulane, this time in a 29-20 stunner | Just a week after earning one of the biggest regular season wins of the Geezy Era, Green Wave comes out flat in a costly defeat | 7 sacks allowed and two costly fumbles by RB Brown help all but eliminate Wave from national title contention and put SEC West title hopes in limbo | Team hopes to re-establish momentum with colossal matchup at #2 UCLA next on horizon

New Orleans, LA -- Coming into Saturday night's contest with #17 Arkansas, Tulane head coach D. Geezy had hoped that his team could avoid reading its own press clippings coming off of last week's huge win at Alabama while also avoiding looking ahead to next week's big matchup at #2 UCLA. Unfortunately for the 17th year head coach, his #6 ranked Green Wave still managed to come out flat and blew an opportunity to clinch the SEC West division for the first time since the 2023 season, falling to the Razorbacks 29-20 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Similar to the team's other defeat this year, a 39-35 loss to current-#1 Notre Dame almost a month ago, a dominant performance by Arkansas DE Kris Rice along with ill-timed turnovers doomed the Green Wave to their second consecutive defeat to the Razorbacks at home.

Razorbacks DE Kris Rice beat up sophomore RT Ryan Stewart-Sims (#65), a former blue chip recruit that moved from guard to tackle this off-season, for 3 sacks and several more pressures on Saturday.

The Razorbacks, who defeated the Wave 41-38 two years ago at the dome, would get off to a hot start. A 4-play 80-yard drive to open the game would be capped off by a 7-yard touchdown run by RB Courtney Gilmore, giving the underdogs a 7-0 lead early.

Tulane would follow it up with a long drive of its own, though more methodical. QB Jimmy McBride's 8-yard touchdown toss to pass-catching RB Michael Brown Jr. tied the game up at 7-7 early. Brown Jr. finished the evening with 5 receptions for 48 yards.

The second quarter is when thing began to become dicey for the home team. Already up 14-7 following a 44-yard touchdown pass from QB Malik Foster to WR Justin Smith, Arkansas got a big play from its defense.

DT Ricky Freeman, a player Tulane once recruited, stripped RB Anthony Brown of the football and Rice recovered near midfield, setting their team up in position to extend its lead. The turnover would lead to a 29-yard field goal eight plays later by PK J.R. Sapp, giving his team a 17-7 lead.

In the second half, yet another mistake by A. Brown would cost the Green Wave valuable points. The sophomore running back, a former 4-star recruit and Louisiana native, would get stripped of the football by Razorbacks FS Dominic Carter and DT Matt Mitchell recovered, setting Arkansas up in Wave territory. Sapp's second field goal of a day, this time from 33 yards out, gave his team a 20-10 lead.

The Green Wave did not go away quietly however and rallied. McBride's 3-yard touchdown pass to WR Adam Lawson cut Tulane's deficit to 20-17. Lawson, who has historically torched Arkansas, finished the game with 9 receptions for 157 yards and now has 28 receptions for 694 in only three career games versus the Razorbacks.

RB Courtney Gilmore's 7-yard touchdown run capped off a 10-play game-winning drive and gave the Razorbacks a 27-20 lead with just 0:58 remaining.
Tulane would tie the game late when true freshman PK Blake Dunn nailed a career-long 58-yard field goal that made the score 20-20 with just under four minutes remaining. Unfortunately for the Wave, that was the last time the home team would dent the scoreboard.

After getting possession of the ball with the score tied, Foster would lead a clutch drive that featured three third down conversions. A 44-yard completion by Foster to true freshman WR Fred Mitchell put their team deep in Tulane territory. And a few plays later, the 10-play 82-yard march that lasted 3:01 would culminate with another 7-yard touchdown run by Gilmore that gave the Razorbacks a 27-20 lead with less than a minute to go. Gilmore finished the contest with 20 carries for 110 yards and 2 scores.

"(Starting safety) Jo Jo Price left the game with an injury on the previous play and they took advantage of our true freshman replacement, Scott Bright," said interim defensive coordinator Cam DeJean. "I wouldn't call it a coverage bust, because he was in position, but he totally whiffed on the ball and the tackle, and Mitchell got behind him for a big play to put them in position.

After falling behind, Tulane would re-take possession of the football at its own 23-yard line with 0:53 remaining, however the possession was disastrous. Out of timeouts after having to spend them on defense as Arkansas attempted to run out the clock offensively on their last possession, a sack by CB Joe Hollins on first down resulted in nearly 20 seconds of possession time running off the game clock. A couple of incomplete passes later, the Wave faced a 4th and 19 from its own 7-yard line.

On the Wave's last gasp attempt to tie the game, Arkansas Freeman sacked McBride in the endzone for a game-clinching safety, making the score 29-20. Freeman finished the contest with 5 tackles, a forced fumble, and the game-clinching safety sack. Arkansas would get the ball back after the safety free kick and end the game on kneel-downs, adding another 'L' to Tulane's record this season.

"Obviously there's a large degree of disappointment. You think about what you maybe could have done differently to prepare and you also think about all the missed opportunities and the turnovers," said Geezy. With everything we had on the line today, with a chance to win the West, this one really stings."

Tulane (7-2) will travel next week to take on #2 UCLA (8-0) in Los Angeles in what will be the first ever meeting between the two schools. A game that many thought would mean more, the Green Wave are now essentially out of national title contention and will merely be playing for pride after missing out on a chance to clinch the SEC West versus the Razorbacks. The team will have another opportunity to clinch the division once again the following Thursday, when they take on Ole Miss (5-4) on what will be a short week after facing UCLA.

QB Malik Foster and teammates celebrated another victory on Tulane's home turf, their school's second straight win at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

The Mercedes-Benz Superdome was jammed-packed Saturday evening as the Tulane faithful in attendance hoped their team would be able to get the sour taste of Arkansas' 41-38 victory in their last visit to the dome washed out of their mouths.

QB Jimmy McBride and WR Adam Lawson led the pregame huddle Saturday evening.

Arkansas went on a 4-play 80-yard drive to open the game, and Tulane fans knew right then and there that they were probably in for a long day.

Senior LT Kyle Gray chest bumped junior RB Michael Brown Jr. following Brown Jr.'s 8-yard touchdown reception that tied the game up at 7-7 early.

Lawson was a man amongst boys all Saturday evening, and finished with a season-high 9 receptions for 157 yards and 1 touchdown.

McBride was able to complete this first half pass and ended the day with solid numbers, however DE Kris Rice (#95) was in his face all game long and finished the evening with 3 sacks. RT Ryan Stewart-Sims (#65) was credited with all 3 sacks allowed.

Lawson's 57-yard reception put Tulane in position for a field goal that cut his team's deficit to 17-10 just before halftime.

Sophomore RB Anthony Brown burst through the Razorbacks defense for a 29-yard gain on the first play from scrimmage of the second half, however he would cough the ball up on the game's very next play. Brown went over 1,000 rushing yards for the season on Saturday, however two costly fumbles marred an otherwise solid performance.

Pic 1 of 2: QB Malik Foster took advantage of SS Jo Jo Price's injury and went right after his replacement, true freshman SS Scott Bright.

Pic 2 of 2: The sixth receiver on Arkansas' depth chart, true freshman WR Fred Mitchell took advantage of an error by Bright to come away with a clutch 44-yard reception to set the Razorbacks up in position to take a 27-20 lead late.

Arkansas senior DT Ricky Freeman, a player Tulane once pursued years ago, came away with a sack for a safety on this desperation 4th and 19 with 0:10 remaining and clinched the victory for the Razorbacks.

With an opportunity to clinch the SEC West division this weekend now lost, Coach Geezy's bunch will now have to wait two more weeks for another chance in a do-or-die matchup at Ole Miss. In his final year under contract with the Green Wave, Geezy's future in New Orleans could be on the line in the season's final weeks.
