I always wondered why this was. It doesn’t make sense tbh. It’s so tough to keep distance when they can literally just walk forward and be in your face even if you push them away again

It depends on the footwork rating

Most guys can hop back quickly irl but they definitely cant move backwards faster than someone can move forward

I thought you wanted realism? You can move forward much easier, faster, and longer than you can backwards.

And as Philly pointed out, some fighters CAN move back faster (sometimes by a significant margin) depending on footwork rating.

Actually, I think that the speeds become equal when one fighter is moving straight forward and the other straight back, regardless of the footwork rating. The exception is that if you have low perma stam, you move back slower and the opponent and he can catch you up.

          Like Yves mentioned...

The game was specifically designed in a way that when a fighter is moving backwards and the opponent is moving forward, the movement speeds match... Regardless of footwork stats.

This actually helps outside fighting and distance management.

You're wrong on that. It might feel like fighters move forward faster but they don't. Test it out yourself in practice mode.

              Hmm

As much as I complain about outside fighting I dont like this mechanic.

That’s probably explains why TeamAggression is so against outside fighting buffs.

Was it always like this or was it added in one of the patchez?

I hope sometime the footwork stat accounts for things like natural differences in movement speed, so different fighters could have different speeds -> fighter uniqueness.

Right now, apparently the footwork stat mainly deals with lunges.

No. You can stop pretending you're for something (realism) and then making posts against it because it doesn't suit your playstyle. That's why your list of complaints is so long, Hammer.

Attacking your views is what we are supposed to be doing here. Would you rather I attack you? Ideas need to be criticized and, in my opinion, brutally demolished when they don't add up.

Your's just happen to not add up almost 100% of the time.

That’s not how a forum works. He can attack your views if he disagrees. He just can’t attack you personally.

I am open to debates it was just very condescending the way he phrased his argument. And as far as realism no fight takes pace on the inside the entire time. That’s why it’s called a dance. I guess I am trying to say footwork needs a buff

I think it's because most people rather do button smash than fight smart picking angles. Angles are competely useless after latest patch but it is what casual wants & outside fighting is completely useless because angles got basically deleted from game.
