Re: NBA 2K19 Xbox One X Gameplay: Lakers vs. Warriors
First of all, deepest apologies about the poor quality of play in this video. It's regrettable that this is the first real gameplay you guys have seen of 2K19 and it's not a good look.
It was me on the sticks... kind of. I was having an in-depth discussion with Kat while my hands were on cruise control, half of the time either looking at her or trying to demo specific things I was talking about. If I knew this video was going out to the world, I definitely would have called some plays and tried to "play right" rather than run around the court like a moron trying to collect Curry highlights.
This was also an old demo build. Take that for what it's worth. But I saw a lot of issues while playing that have been ironed out over the past couple weeks.
All this to say, don't write off 2K19 based off this terrible footage. That would be a mistake. Even the Prelude isn't a good judge of what gameplay will be like in the final product. I know that doesn't give you guys a lot to go on, but you'll just have to take my word for it. The game isn't perfect, but it's definitely the most enjoyable and competitive gameplay experience we've ever created.
Now. Let the bashing continue.

Oh no I didn't think it was an indictment on the game itself, just an indictment on the player, lol.First of all, deepest apologies about the poor quality of play in this video. It's regrettable that this is the first real gameplay you guys have seen of 2K19 and it's not a good look.

Game looked good to me, I focused on the improvements more then your playstyle. What difficulty was this on? Trying to gauge the shot contest system this year.First of all, deepest apologies about the poor quality of play in this video. I really like how the CPU punished Mike for his mistakes on court. The game looks very promising.Comment

Re: NBA 2K19 Xbox One X Gameplay: Lakers vs. Warriors
This, especially with the Lakers. They play fast and will be one of the better passing teams in the league.This. It feels like how MLB the Show has the same presentation and cutscenes year after year.
This this this! When there was talk about it being easier to body up with a good defender this is what I anticipated.
Not trying to nit pick off of one video however there's a few big disappointments for me that stand out...
My biggest hope for AI improvement was that they would play faster. Whether it be pushing it on a fastbreak or plays developing faster, there's still too much waiting around by the user since the CPU is not aggressive enough in getting to spots on the floor either with the ball or without. Also, the CPU just doesn't look for the 3 point shot enough as is befitting of the modern NBA. I don't necessarily mean forcing shots more, cause no one wants that, but simply looking for shooters on the wing and getting the ball to them.
Please understand by CPU being more aggressive I DO NOT mean have them force passes into the paint. I'm talking about their movement, too much jogging and waiting around still.
That play with McGee standing all alone in the lane, they see him late then he takes a contested lay up. That should have been an easy dunk/layup.
Hopefully they play faster on the higher difficulties.Did this dude just did this?Comment

Re: NBA 2K19 Xbox One X Gameplay: Lakers vs. Warriors
I didn’t have a problem with the gameplay or quality of play in the video.
The only reason this happens is because 2K doesn’t get out in front of this type of thing and release official 5 v 5 gameplay early enough.
So footage that’s not truly representative of the game mechanics gets spread out onto the internet and here we are.
How this is Mike’s fault per se is beyond me.⛹🏽💀

It clearly was a problem you literally just posted and replied 6 or 7 times to him, im in here trying to see if people noticed anything new about the new gameplay, and im finding these debates. Does anyone know what difficulty the lakers and warriors gameplay is?[emoji102] I don't know how you meant it, i just read how it looks. No problem man.

is this legit? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3Lhb1Rg0Ds
Finally had a second chance to watch the video in its entirety.
Defense being my main concern, I focused mainly on off-ball defenders and their positions.
1) Otto Porter defense - preliminary with this one video is drastically improved, but unfortunately did make one appearance @13:40 in OP video. Regardless of who was camp in the corner, Rondo's movement towards the middle of the paint simply doesn't make sense. Not sure why the source code AI would have Rondo move all the way into the paint when everything is already congested.

2) Transition defense - already mentioned being problematic, so I'll just touch on it briefly with a visual example, and why it ultimately affects gameplay. Notice the user (Mike Wang) had to actively take control of Klay Thompson because even he could see Klay's AI transition defense was in poor position. Klay sprints to his predetermined programmed AI spot leaving the wide open three. Both KD and Klay both have their backs turned and simply do not pay attention to the transition offense. The multiple advantages the offense has over the defense makes scoring on transition easy.
Hoping for 2k20 that transition defenders actually back pedals/"side pedals" and keeps their eye on their man and actually read the transition offense.

EDIT: Here's a new one @8:59, Jordan Bell, a combination of otto porter plus whatever defense it's suppose to be:
