Why doesnt the RB help pass protect?

Blocking the running back is useless, he just stands there while the blitzer runs past him for an easy sack. I hate this game, but love football, so i cant just not play it, sigh

Eh, I've seen him pick up blocks. I've seen the rb get wrecked on a block too. Like the pass rusher ran up, knocked them down (violently) and then sack me. Sometimes they miss blocks but in general I've seen them at least try.

Lol yes he is, but I play CFM with the Dolphins and don't have Drake anymore. I've seen Thomas Rawls get destroyed, and Ballage (the rookie rb) have good blocks

I always send him out...to me he's more useful as a safety valve for a quick dump than as a blocker lol

OP...which back is it? Consider, plenty of back really are not great at blocking.

A HB's ability to recognize and pick up blitzes is tied to the unit awareness of the line on passing plays. Guys with low awareness are going to struggle to pick up blitzes.

They also need to be on the correct side of the formation to pick up the blitz. You can motion backs to each side of you in shotgun this year when not in a run play

Little devonta freeman constantly levels would be pass rushers for me. U can help them block better for u if u move a little in the pocket forcing the pass rusher into them. I see the occasional oles from him as well, but thatโ€™s to be expected. Overall, I have no issues with how the RBs block and often audible to keeping a rb in to block to give me 1 extra second. It works more often than not for me.

This happens way to often, the RB just stands there like a statue, especially online vs heavy blitzes

Re: Why doesnt the RB help pass protect?

McKinnon is considered a good pass pro RB in real life. Iโ€™ve seen him pick up a pass rusher a couple of times.

I should note, one of the first things I do is crank up one of my RBโ€™s pass pro relevant attributes for a test game to see if Madden cares about that. Usually, I can see a difference between a superb pass pro RB and a weak one; but not the difference between an above average one and a below average one. Kinda realistic.

It could be why the whiff on so many blocks. If the guy approaching isn't their AI assignment, they don't do anything.

You know what, i think youre right, hope its something that the EA team looks at, i dont expect to have all day in the pocket but the back has to atleast try to get a chip, even if the pass rusher disengages in a nano second or jumps over him, i would feel alot better than him just standing there doing nothing at all.

Matching IMP and Lead blocking with running backs BCV and Awareness helps out with him picking up blitzes
