I am using Sliders by GTAonlineYT and a set of '19 rosters by IMAC testing GTA (josh's) sliders. They are pretty epic for real football. I played for 2 colleges and seek the real football experience over the arcade vibe. The tweaking he did made the game run at near perfect stats for an NFL game on 7 minute quarters... not sure how they sim, but as for playing, it was the best madden I have ever played. Spot on realism and 3 weeks in I'm still trying to have a breakout game. The computer is good, but the madden "cheese" is gone. All plays looked very real as did the animations etc. The computer even ran the ball nearly as much as they threw. it was a massive chess match and reminded me of how hard countering can actually be when the computer is mixing the calls up that much.
you should try those GTA sliders with the IMAC roster. What I am noticing is what they said, to make it more like real life you have to take away "traits." Teh "big hitter" trait along with "ball hawk" make the game do all the "gamer" animations that look like NFL Blitz every play. When you use the Imac roster which doesn't have traits in conjunction with the sliders built for that roster the effect is immediate. By halftime you will notice the game is putting up realistic play and numbers. The big key seems to be removing those two traits along with "high motor," but increasing the pass defense reaction time (to 85) this eliminates the need for the gamer ball hawk BS and makes the plays in the secondary look like real life with their reactions and coverage. It's hard to describe but I would suggest trying it.
I will be willing to go through once this roster is done and create a version without traits if you have not removed them from this 1985 set etc.
I may never play madden any other way again, it was the best experience I have ever had. Im 40, been playing madden since the very first one on Sega. I'm an sports nut especially about classic rosters.
