    Ideas to fix CFM

CFM really needs some more work done to it. I wouldn't say a complete overhaul because there are some great things in there, but for sim players, I think we just need more detail. I created this post for the community to gather ideas for the devs to hopefully incorporate in Madden 20.

My first idea that comes to my mind would affect the game before you even start CFM. Right now, you can choose between Owner, Coach, or Player. Why not add another option for General Manager? I don't necessarily want to gameplan each week for different teams. I just want to manage my roster, build a team, and play games.

Any other ideas? If you guys don't think this is needed, it can be deleted.

A really simple fix for the “immersive backgrounds” would be to just have the background reflect what we’re doing. Are we at the main CFM screen? Have us kicked back in our chair. Are we at the GamePlan screen? Show us writing on a whiteboard or on our tablet. Are we looking to sign or trade someone? Have us on our computer or on the phone. These are really simple things that make much more sense than a constant cycling of screens. I really don’t understand why EA thought that would capture our attention the way it was implemented.

I think that is a great idea also. I think the best version I liked was where the articles and rumors were the main page of CFM. Now you have to scrolls through menus to get any kind of storyline.

Sorry if this has been asked or answered but has anyone noticed missing players , in mine I'm missing Dez Bryant and Martavis Bryant in free agents that I noticed. I saw Martavis Bryant was about to sign with the Raiders again and was going to add him but he's not there.

One fix for sim players I think would be to extend on the gameplan options. I would like to be able to set The Carry Attempts my Running Backs get such as Mark Ingram 10-15 attempts Alvin Kamara 5-12 attempts how many targets my receivers get. What type of Defensive calls is the team going to favor each game do to what team I am up against, and I wont the CPU to be able to exploit through the sim if I gameplan wrong. Id also love to see Tendencies to be added to the game similar to 2k so I can see people having different styles. Lastly I want a lot more play types added to playbooks, A lot more RPOs a lot more Unique formations like all these new offensive are bringing... But overall I just want my QBs to have run stats like they should

I would love a system that makes roster management a lot more realistic (and by default, a lot more challenging).

            - Personality conflicts. Make up 6 or 7 personality types. Some have no impact on their team mates, others mean a player will refuse to sign for you if a specific personality type is on your squad in their position.

            - players having minimum playing time demands. I know EA would stuff this up, but if they got it right - it’d be great to have players who will refuse to re-sign with you unless they start a certain amount of games (with an equation built in to cater for injury).

FIFA and 2K have these things (to a certain extent), madden should too.

Great first idea! I’m a big presentation guy. I think in order to have a good franchise mode you need to beef up presentation. I strongly believe it goes hand in hand with franchise mode to create immersion and bring us info at the same time. I like seeing tons of stat overlays and cutscenes that bring you into the experience of what’s going on in the league and in and around the stadium during the game. Weekly show or a better news feed that brings us league scores, weekly awards, injuries, stats, standings, college prospects, playoff picture, all in one place would be great!

One of the biggest problems is alot of gamers want a different experience. Some just want to get on the field and play the game. No time for cutscenes. Other guys like to let the game breath a little and enjoy the game day experience by letting the cutscenes and other presentation elements play out. I respect both opinions. I would like to see them give us different presentation modes.

                1) full presentation (game intro, halftime show, stadium exteriors, replays, fan reactions, sideline reactions, lineup intros, post game show, etc.)
                2) quick presentation. (Stadium exteriors, sideline reactions, stat overlays)
                3) gameplay presentation ( just playcall screen, and maybe stat overlays in between plays)

I will love to the gameplan to be expanded like this. i also would want more depth with injuries, have for example injuries on players that oersist trough the season, instead of having players get injured for x amount of week and as soon as those weeks are done the players is 100 percent and never bothered by this injury. Under this same option under the injury report use the clasificatiin system of Questionable/doubtful/out of game.

I want mascots/shots of the coaches talking to the team in the locker room/ and of course have OC/DC.

Bring back at least OC/DC hires and make them matter in some way. Having retired players able to be signed to these spots was cool back in the day. If Jared Goff or Todd Gurley win MVP, maybe mention it during introductions the next year. A championship celebration in the pre-game for a super bowl winner would be cool, or at least a mention of it. It's like the prior year doesn't matter. Thankfully they finally brought back captains, took way too long. Make a retirement screen of all the retired players every year. Whitworth retired and I didn't realize it till after the draft so I didn't have a decent LT option.

I know people want recaps and highlights but I don't care about any of that. It would all get repetitive anyway unless they implemented new content every once in awhile. I just want little things to make CFM deeper.

Out of curiosity, how many of you watch the half time show each week? I watched the first 4 or 5 and then realised I just didn’t care - I feel like I should watch it just because it’s a feature.

Adding more to it would once again be a very short lived gimmick for me personally.

I'd love an updated contract system.

#1)Let us determine the year by year value (frontload/backload/even spread). Even if I couldn't customize the exact amount each year, just these 3 options would be awesome and the CPU can do the work

#2) Allow a restructure option. I think it would be easy. Say it's a 5 year contract offer. Have a "restructure:" and then scroll through which year to do so in.

#3) Allow optional year. Like how many contracts are 4 years with a team option to pick up a 5th. An easy way would be the optional year is equivalent to their highest paid year in the contract

#4) Allow incentive contracts. So a RB could get $3m a year, but gets $1m more if he gets 1000 yards. This could be predetermined incentives based on position, and you just check off which ones to include and for how much. IE for an RB, you can check of 1000 yards and put in a value of $1m, or 20 touchdowns and put a value of $500k etc etc.

With all these, the negotiation screen could have these options:

                              Years
                              Salary
                              Yearly guaranteed value
                              Structure: (frontload/backload/even)
Restructure (yes/no): year (put in the year to restructure)
                              Additional option year: yes/no
Incentives: (1000 yards, TD's etc using check boxes. insert amount)
                              Signing Bonus

So, full example, for an RB:

                              Years: 5
                              Guaranteed Salary: $3.0m
                              Structure: backload
                              Restructure: yes year: 3
                              Additional option year: no
                              Incentives:
                              1k yards: $1.0m
                              20 touchdowns: $250k
                              Signing bonus: $5m

I could do without the optional year, and without the incentives. I get that those two are a bit more complex to program in. With more and more contracts becoming fully guaranteed as well, the incentives are starting to go by the wayside anyway.

Choosing the structure and restructure though would be HUGE. I'd also love a true signing bonus, not using it as the guaranteed portion of the contract.

I was actually thinking about this just a couple weeks ago, a GM mode. Then I realized...it's already there. Coach mode is a GM, you control the roster entirely. Owner mode is a GM with a regard to actual budgeting.

I get that you don't want to gameplan each week, but it takes seconds to just sim it, and even less time to skip doing it entirely lol.

I watched it 2/3 times, thats it. I skip almost everything. Typically in the playoffs I will see what the introductions and such are like 1-2 times, then skip them too.
