I think I glossed over the Heisman hype before. Definitely should be a receiver winning, I'll tell you what.

Now that is how you build momentum heading into conference championship week! McBride shredded the Golden Eagles. Of course, the real test will come next season when you play them on the road....
This has to be one of the better passing attacks I have seen out of this Tulane squad dating back to the days of Manning. I know big numbers were put up by Ryan Jean but I don't feel like it has ever felt this efficient. Statistically I may be wrong though...
Looking ahead to next week a few things come to mind...
1) Go Hokies.
2) Bradley should win the Heisman but I bet the game will like Jones from Texas.
3) A Texas/Notre Dame championship game would be amazing to watch.
Loving this as always my friend. Looking forward to seeing you take on the Gators! Time to punch that ticket to the Sugar Bowl and bring the party back to New Orleans!A Rising Storm in the North | Cheese's Eastern Michigan Dynasty (NCAA '12)

Big win. McBride balled out the last few weeks of the season. Great momentum heading into the SEC Title Game. Really good to knock off your rivals from an undefeated season. Almost as good of a feeling as winning a conference title. Almost.
Texas WR Sam Roberts has 1700 yards receiving and the Texas QB threw for 2200 yards to non-Sam-Roberts Longhorn players. Wow. Talk about putting the ball in your playmakers hands. Didn't Texas also have a dude with a monstrous season a couple seasons back that should've won the Heisman? Like 1800+ receiving yards and 120+ catches or something?
The Texas WR you're referring to is Lance Moore from a couple of seasons ago. He went into the Heisman ceremony in 2024 with 169 receptions for 2,587 yards and 20 touchdowns. Even still, he ended up losing the Heisman to Alabama's QB that year, Brad Hill.
Awesome recall by you...could you believe that was virtually one full year ago in real time?!
Another great performance by McBride, but also by that defense. I got a chuckle from the "curb stomp" in the title, it's a brutal phrasing but correct in this case lol.
This should be a good sign going into the SEC title game. It's great to come in hot like this. Keep it going!
Ride this WAVE of momentum...get it!? ahh man I just can't escape a good pun, dad jokes are best lol
I enjoy a good dad joke. I may have to work that phrase into one of my game articles. I like it.
My money is on Joe Jones this year. Should be a very interesting vote.

If you're ever feeling nostalgic and want to look at old stats, I have each season's final stats listed here.
Your Hokies are definitely balling, and I've been trying to remember to make it a point to keep up with their progress and keep them in the storyline for you.
You and I are on the same page on Jones. This game, like real life, heavily favors quarterbacks for the Heisman Trophy. Literally only two non-quarterbacks have won the Heisman, one of whom I'd say is pretty well-documented at this point.
I am still stunned that UCLA lost. Texas-Notre Dame would be fun, but not as fun as Alabama-Notre Dame; a part of me wishes we could have seen that matchup, but my Green Wave had to ruin the fun!
Thanks all for checking in! We're on a very brief hiatus here but we'll be picking things up again in the next few days.

Game 13, Year 17 Preview (2026 season): #19 Florida Gators vs. #14 Tulane Green Wave
GAME 13 PREVIEW
Courtesy
Latest Line (courtesy Bovada - Las Vegas):
....................2 1/2....................
2025: Tulane then-redshirt freshman DT Byron Henderson celebrated following his game-clinching forced fumble with just 1:07 remaining to play.
Last Meeting I: A season ago, then-#5 Tulane got a strong performance out of former RB Tony Tompkins and forced a late turnover defensively to help preserve a 27-22 win at rainy Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Tompkins, who unfortunately suffered a pectoral injury towards the end of the contest, finished with 25 carries for 150 yards and 3 touchdowns. Late in the game, with the Wave clinging to its 27-22 lead with just over a minute remaining and Florida deep in Tulane territory, DT Byron Henderson forced Gators RB Elliot Johnson fumble and CB J.T. Hills recovered, giving their team the ball back with 1:07 to go and enabling them to run out the clock. The win improved Tulane's record to 5-0 on the season and, despite the fact that the two teams typically play each other very close, the victory improved head coach D. Geezy's record to 8-1 overall versus the Gators.
2024: RB Tony Tompkins' game-winning 3-yard touchdown run with 0:17 remaining capped off an 11-play drive that completed Tulane's fourth quarter comeback.
Last Meeting II: Two year ago, then-#16 ranked Tulane erased a 20-10 fourth quarter deficit, making big plays down the stretch to come away with a thrilling 24-20 victory over the then-#3 ranked defending national champion Florida Gators. RB Tony Tompkins, then a junior, finished off a big day by scoring on a 3-yard touchdown run with just 0:17 remaining, helping his team improve to 6-1 on the season. QB Obi Clemons, subbing in for an injured QB Bryce Allen, finished the game with a career-high 362 passing yards and a touchdown as the Wave avenged the previous season's SEC title game loss to the Gators.
2023: QB Joey Holmes along with his teammates and fans alike did the "Gator Chomp" all evening long during the course of winning their second straight Southeastern Conference title.
Last Meeting III: Three seasons ago, then-#2 ranked Florida dominated nearly from start to finish en route to knocking off then-#14 ranked Tulane 36-17 in the 2023 SEC Championship Game in Atlanta. Gators redshirt senior QB Joel Holmes threw for 343 yards and 2 touchdowns to help pace a Florida squad that would go on to win the BCS National Championship Game weeks later over Michigan at Tulane's Mercedes-Benz Superdome home venue. The Wave also had problems with Florida RB Marcus McBride that night as he finished the game with 192 yards from scrimmage. Tulane QB Obi Clemons, playing in place of injured starter Bryce Allen since mid-season, had an extremely poor outing and finished the night with no touchdowns and 4 interceptions in what was by far his worst performance of the year.

Head Coach D. Geezy's Take
Tulane head coach D. Geezy addressed the media via a phone conference prior to his team's flight departure to Atlanta.
Well here we are, finally back in the conference title and with a chance to win the SEC for the first time in 5 years. We've been here 8 different times now, though the last time we were here we got spanked by Florida, back in '23. That Gators team went on to win the national title that year, and to tell you the truth, this year's team is just as explosive as that one was.
Florida possesses a lot of team speed offensively across the board. Their tandem at running back with Elliot Johnson (87 ovr) and Kevin Austin (86 ovr) are two players we pursued a few years back and quite frankly have kept us up at night. Austin in particular, who is only 5-6, is a key chess piece of theirs that they use all over the field, at running back, wide receiver, return man, and sometimes in an H-back type role. He will keep us very busy as will their outstanding offensive line.
Defensively, they are also very stacked. We've had problems against great defensive linemen all season long, and that's certainly exactly what they have. Their two defensive tackles, Will Howell (90 ovr) and Ken Franklin (90 ovr) each do a great job of controlling the line of scrimmage and they're really the catalysts that enable the rest of their great defense to play outstanding ball.
We talk all the time about the fact that we play for rings here at Tulane, but it has really been a while for us since we have done so. We obviously haven't won a national title in 8 years, and we also haven't won this conference since 2021. There was a time where maybe we took these opportunities for granted, but after a five year drought, that is no longer the case. We have a huge opportunity in front of us to win the best conference in college football, get into a BCS bowl, and springboard our program into hopefully becoming a national contender again in the near future. This will be a huge test for us, and we need to bring our 'A' game.

Damn, Tulane is treating Coach Geezy like Georgia did to Mark Richt. Let's just hope they never get the opportunity to look for a replacement. Florida looks solid across the board, this will be a close game.My Dynasties

Re: Coach Geezy in the Big Easy: Our City, Our Team | Part II - The Golden Age of Tul
And the plot thickens. I just don't see any way the AD ousts you even if you drop this game but you set a standard in New Orleans over the past decade and it's far past time for you to reclaim at the very least a conference title.
Turning the attention to Florida and the task at hand...if I had to think of one word to describe this Florida team, it is solid. The running back tandem looks flat out deadly and the center of their defense is going to be giving you fits all night I worry. I think the more you can spread them out on defense the better. Running straight at this team I think will be liking beating your head against a wall.
As for defending them on defense, keeping plays in front of you is going to be key. If Austin gets into space, the wheels could come off the bus real quick.
I can't wait to see this game take shape! Good luck my friend. Win this game and get that new coaching contract.A Rising Storm in the North | Cheese's Eastern Michigan Dynasty (NCAA '12)

Man, what a 180... a month ago Weiner is singing his praises, saying they want Geezy to stay and gives his vote of confidence. Fast forward just a few weeks, and suddenly Coach Geezy is coaching for his job? That's got to rub coach the wrong way a bit, and is an unnecessary distraction coming up on the big CCG.

This Florida squad presents a lot of problems for our team. Their top players all sort of expose problem-areas we have had on both sides of the ball, particularly up front on the defensive line as well as their running game. Every team that's beaten us this year has had a defensive lineman absolutely obliterate us, and they have two in the middle that could do the same if we don't focus on them. And we have also struggled versus the run seemingly against every team, and they have two of the better backs we'll face this season.
This will be a hell of a test for us.
And the plot thickens. I just don't see any way the AD ousts you even if you drop this game but you set a standard in New Orleans over the past decade and it's far past time for you to reclaim at the very least a conference title.

It is an eerie feeling playing this game in a contract year, with your dynasty and dynasty report's fate literally in the hands of the simulation engine. haha
As for Florida, I think you're right in that spreading them out may be the best way to try to beat them. I don't want to drop back TOO much though, because that has typically led to more sacks when playing against elite defenders on the D-Line. They don't have very many weaknesses, so a balanced approach with a focus on limiting sacks and turnovers is the best way to go. Short passes will also be a key focus, as well as not getting frustrated when running the ball even if we're not getting big gains.
Defensively, Kevin Austin scares the hell out of me. If they decide they want to feature him, we could be in for a long day, as we just don't have the type of players needed to matchup versus a guy like that.

The fact of the matter is this - for the past five years, we have had 3 contract goals:
1. Win an SEC title
2. Finish Season in Top 10
3. Play in a major bowl
If we lose on Saturday, this will mark the 5th straight season in which none of those contract goals were met, and I am just not sure how the game will react to that at the end of the year with Coach Geezy out of time on his contract. This is seriously some high drama that has me very nervous.
I view this as a must-win for the life of this dynasty report.
Thanks all for the replies. Time to finally get this huge, must-win game started and hopefully bring the SEC crown back to New Orleans!Click here to read my dynasty report:

Its shocking to see where this program was to where it is now, even though its been a few years since real success, if you go way way back you’ve bought this team from the ground up! If this AD feels its acceptable to move on from a legendary coach like Deegeezy then he has some serious thinking to do!Last edited by Tearz49ers; 09-22-2018, 08:02 PM.Comment

Game 13, Year 17 (2026 season): #19 Florida Gators vs. #12 Tulane Green Wave
#1931 -- 10-3 (7-2)
#1224 -- 9-4 (7-2)
Florida senior OLB Marques Holland did the "Gator Chomp" as he and his teammates celebrated their 3rd SEC title in the past 5 seasons.
#12 Tulane storms back from 28-0 first half deficit but falls short in heartbreaking 31-24 SEC title game loss to #19 Florida, marking their second loss to the Gators at Atlanta in four seasons | Turnovers and missed opportunities haunt Green Wave as their conference title drought will extend to a sixth year | With only one game remaining on his contract, Wave's loss puts significant damper on Geezy's upcoming extension talks this off-season and possibly jeopardizes his future in New Orleans | After missing out on a BCS bid once again, team now awaits its bowl destination
Atlanta, GA -- It had been just about five years to the date that Tulane last hoisted the SEC Championship Trophy on the Georgia Dome's field turf, back when they defeated Florida 20-0 in the 2021 conference title game. That wait will now go on for at least another year as this time the Wave was dominated early and fell short late in a devastating 31-24 loss to the Gators Saturday evening in Atlanta. The 19th ranked Gators, who came in as 2 1/2 point underdogs, built up a huge first half lead and was able to hold off a tenacious Green Wave rally in the end to come away with their third conference title in the past five seasons.
DE Karl Campbell's 56-yard first quarter interception return for a touchdown made the score 14-0 and set the tone for a dominant first half for the Gators.
The game got off to about as poor of a start as possible for the Wave. Florida QB Johnny Jackson's 84-yard touchdown completion to WR Joel Miller on just the game's third play from scrimmage quickly gave the Gators a 7-0 lead. Then, DE Karl Campbell's 56-yard interception return for a touchdown extended Florida's lead to 14-0 less than four minutes into the contest.
"I've been in this business long enough to know that when you start a game like that, it creates a nasty snowball effect," said Tulane head coach D. Geezy. "If you don't respond, things can quickly get out of hand."
And that it did.
Following a fumble by Tulane RB Anthony Brown deep in his own territory, Florida RB Elliot Johnson would score from 5 yards away to give his team a 21-0 lead. Then, a couple of possessions later following a 49-yard field goal miss by Wave freshman PK Blake Dunn, Jackson would hook up with RB/WR Ken Austin for a 46-yard touchdown, giving the Gators a commanding 28-0 lead less than a minute into the second quarter.
The Green Wave would finally get on the board when Dunn hit on a 24-yard field goal that made the score 28-3 late in the second quarter. Then, following a fumble by Gators return man Colt Byrd on the ensuing kickoff was recovering by the Wave deep in Florida territory, WR Adam Lawson's one-handed touchdown grab on a 13-yard pass from QB Jimmy McBride cut Tulane's deficit to 28-10 before halftime.
Tulane would get yet another turnover just before halftime when senior CB P.J. Reese caught an interception off an errant Jackson pass deep in Florida territory. However, Wave freshman WR Steve Mosley would return the favor a play later when he fumbled the ball in the red zone following a 15-yard reception, leaving the score at 28-10 going into the break.
"In a game like this, you can't just point to one mistake as the reason you lost, but I felt as though we really missed an opportunity there to really, I mean really capture the momentum just before halftime, said Geezy. We cash in there, and suddenly its a two possession game and we're getting the ball first in the third quarter."
Florida QB Johnny Jackson finished 19 of 24 for 298 yards and 2 touchdowns and made big plays down the stretch to allow his team to hang on in the end.
The two teams would play to a near-stalemate in the third quarter, with Gators PK Kyle Grier's 27-yard field goal at the conclusion of a 13-play drive representing the period's only points, making the score 31-10 going into the fourth quarter. And that's when the Wave's offense ignited once again.
With time running out, Tulane needed to strike quickly if they wanted to make things interesting again, and that they did. McBride's 11-yard touchdown run on a scramble concluded a 4-play drive and made the score 31-17 with 5:35 remaining. Then, SS Jo Jo Price's strip of Gators WR Danny Wilson at the conclusion of a 20-yard reception on Florida's next possession put the Wave back in business.
A couple of plays following the turnover, the freshman Mosley would make amends for his earlier fumble by hauling in a short pass over the middle and weaving his way through traffic for a 26-yard touchdown, pulling Tulane to within a touchdown, making the score 31-24 with 4:07 remaining. Unfortunately for Geezy's bunch, that would be the last time the Green Wave offense would see the football.
With the game on the line, Florida was able to put together a clutch, 10-play drive to run out the remainder of the game clock. Jackson's 8-yard completion on a screen pass to Johnson on 3rd and 5 gave the Gators a first down with just over two minutes remaining. Then, with Tulane out of timeouts, Jackson's 5-yard run on 3rd and 3 with 1:42 to go gave his team a first down and put the Gators in position to kneel on the ball and cap off Florida's conference title clinching victory.
Interim defensive coordinator Cameron DeJean's unit played lights-out in the second half, however it was not enough as Tulane failed to win the SEC for a fifth consecutive season.
"You know, this was a tough loss, disappointing in a lot of ways," said a visibly somber Geezy.
"I love how our guys competed until the very end, but today just wasn't our day. I thought we looked sloppy in the first half and by the time we got our feet under us we were down 28-0. You just can't do that in this conference and expect to come away with a title.
"We then fought back, but could not make the play we needed to at the end there. Needless to say, we're disappointed."
The loss for Tulane marks their third ever in the SEC title game, as they lost to eventual national champion Florida 36-17 in the 2023 conference title game and, three years prior, lost to South Carolina 48-24 in 2020. Despite still boasting a 6-3 overall record in SEC Championship Games, Geezy's future with the Wave could be in jeopardy, with his contract set to expire after this season and the Wave no longer winning championships of any sort at the rate they once were.
"I don't really want to comment on any of that right now," said Geezy, who is reportedly seeking a deal that will pay him $13 to 15 million per year annually, a number that Tulane may be reluctant to pay now that the Green Wave's championship drought has extended for so long. "My stance remains the same and we'll address the contract at the end of the year. Right now, my focus is on preparing my team for the next game."
Tulane will find out its bowl opponent and destination during Sunday night's BCS Bowl Selection Show.
Tulane fans could do nothing but look on in agony as Gators fans celebrated their second win over the Green Wave in Atlanta in the past four seasons.

Winners of the SEC East once again, Florida players prepared to run onto the field in Atlanta for the fifth time in the past six seasons.
Tulane players storm out of the tunnel hoping to win the SEC Championship Game for the first time since the 2021 season.
Florida drew first blood when WR Joel Miller hauled in a deep pass on 3rd and long for an 84-yard opening possession touchdown that made the score 7-0 less than a minute into the game.
Florida cheerleaders celebrated after their team scored early in Saturday evening's contest, a common theme during the game's first half.
Pic 1 of 2: Gators OLB Marques Holland applied pressure and forced QB Jimmy McBride's pass to flutter in the air.
Pic 2 of 2: DE Karl Campbell was the benefactor of Holland's hit on the quarterback as the senior corralled the ball out of the air and would eventually return it for a 56-yard touchdown that put the Wave in an early 14-0 hole.
Florida RB Elliot Johnson finished the game with 77 yards on 18 carries, including this 5-yard touchdown run that put the Gators up 21-0 late in the first quarter.
Versatile sophomore star RB Kevin Austin gave Tulane problems as he took this pass reception and juked past freshman CB Kurt Blalock on his way to a 46-yard touchdown that gave his team a commanding 28-0 lead in the second quarter.
1 of 2: One of very few first half highlights for the Wave, McBride heaved a deep pass out of desperation with his team down 28-0.
2 of 2: WR Grant Brady left his feet in order to make a spectacular 46-yard grab, however it was all for naught as freshman PK Blake Dunn would miss a 49-yard field goal to conclude the drive.
Florida DE Kevin Sherman sacked McBride twice on Saturday and earned Player of the Game honors for his squad.
With his team down 28-3 late in the first half, WR Adam Lawson's smooth one-handed touchdown grab cut the Green Wave's deficit to 28-10 just before halftime.
DT Ken Franklin was hyped up after this second half sack of McBride as the Gators would finish the game with 3 quarterback takedowns on the evening.
Subbing in place of junior starting nickel back Benny Smith, who left the game in the first half with a back injury, senior CB P.J. Reese came away with two clutch interceptions which helped the Green Wave get back in the game.
Florida SS Eric Henderson's second half interception in the end zone on a 4th and 5 helped keep his team up 31-10.
Freshman RB Teddy Jenkins consoled McBride, who was visibly upset after back-to-back Gators sacks resulted in a 3rd and 30 predicament late in the third quarter.
McBride did all he could to keep his team in the game late, including taking matters into his own hands on this 11-yard touchdown scramble that made the score 31-17 in the fourth quarter.
With the Wave down 31-17 late in the fourth quarter, SS Jo Jo Price came up with a clutch strip on WR Danny Wilson. CB J.T. Hills (#34) recovered, and the Green Wave offense cashed it in for a touchdown that made it a one-possession game with 4:07 remaining.
Jackson's screen pass completion to Johnson on 3rd and 5 went for a first down with just over two minutes remaining. Later, Jackson would convert a 3rd and 3 on a quarterback draw to put the game away on the Gator's game-sealing 10-play drive that melted off the game's final four minutes.
Jackson turned around and celebrated after his final kneel-down clinched the Gators' third SEC title in the past five years.
DE Zach Williams and his Gators teammates stormed the field after capturing the conference championship and earning a spot in the Sugar Bowl, to be played at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, Tulane's home stadium.
