Well... crap. I hate to see a comeback come up short but that’s what happens when there’s just too many mistakes. It’s rough after such a strong finish to the regular season. Focus on the bowl game you get though, that could easily have an influence on the contract decision

Did a good job forcing turnovers, just coughed too many up to make a difference. That kind of loss has got to sting for the players, and it definitely won't clear things up for those wondering about Geezy's future with the Wave. Stings even more to see Southern Miss wrap up the C-USA, they'll surely jump back into the Top 10 and might even get an At-Large BCS bid.

Ouch...just ouch. This was not what I was hoping for when I fired up the report to read on the Green Wave. As many have mentioned, the turnovers (especially against a team like Florida) really put the proverbial nail in the coffin on this one. However, I think getting forced out of rhythm early and having to play catch up also really shifted everything. Your run game was essentially non-existent and understandably so. It just didn't play to your strengths to get into an early shootout with a team built for speed and pass rushing.

Oh boy and here we go to see how the contract discussions turn out...hard to believe that all these years, all these games, could be coming down to this. I have said it before and I will say it again, I just don't see any way the AD fires you after everything. Puts a shorter leash on you? Perhaps but no way they fire you. I would be dumbstruck. At this point though, you got to focus on the bowl bid and give the school and the seniors a positive note to close out the season. I will be anxiously watching and waiting. Best of luck man.

On a complete sidenote, the pictures from this past game were absolutely phenomenal. A lot of nice character and organic shots. I am particularly in love with the shot of the Gators helmet from the side.

Oh wow...what a loss man. So hard fought, and just so freaking close. With the drought in the past few years, that has to be absolutely gut-wrenching to be this close and fall short. McBride stats looked really good too, and still the loss. Freakin' turnovers man.

I feel like the bowl game will hold some weight in the contract situation. Not, that it will make a considerable difference, but it would be at least something.

This is crazy man, idk if this was intentional, but you have all of us on the edge of our seats haha.

Yeah we just turned the ball over too many times to be able to finish off the comeback. The one turnover just before halftime I felt was the biggest. I think if we had scored on that drive, we were set to roll.

This bowl game is incredibly important. This really has become nerve-racking.

It's funny...I know these are fictional characters, but I feel so disappointed about the fact that entire generations of players are leaving Tulane without ever experiencing championship glory of any magnitude. It is very possible that stars like QB Jimmy McBride, WR Adam Lawson, or OLB Sean Williamson could be leaving Tulane with no title rings whatsoever, just like RB Tony Tompkins did. Disappointing.

Despite creeping back into the Top 10, Southern Miss got stuck playing in the Liberty Bowl against in-state foe Ole Miss. They got screwed by the # of auto-qualifiers this year that were ranked below them (and screwed by the butt-whoopin' that Green Wave put on 'em).

Yeah that 28-0 deficit basically throws any semblance of a running game out of the window. We just came out flat. Unexplainable.

You're absolutely right - it would be insanely crushing if this how this thing ends after all this time. I never would have thought I'd be in such a position.

When I first re-started this project, I figured I'd play 3 or 4 seasons, win a championship or two and call it quits - but this has truly turned into a tall mountain to climb. I'm enjoying the hell out of it though! I never would have thought that achieving and then sustaining dynasty success would prove so difficult. Historically for myself and many others, dynasties and dynasty reports usually end after a championship or two, but I have learned that that's really just when the fun is getting started.

Appreciate the picture compliments. I tried to do mix in a lot more non-gameplay photos, just with the nature of the type of game it was, with it being for a championship. This video game picture taking thing has truly turned into a hobby. I am still in love with the capture card; I honestly don't think I'd still be playing this game if it wasn't for that.

Ha...this was DEFINITELY not intentional. I started typing up about the contract situation a couple of seasons ago, and never thought it would get to this point where it puts a legitamate scare in me and/or my readers.

As you and others have said, I really need to take this bowl game seriously. It could be the deciding factor on an extension.

I am legitamately curious to see how the A.D. treats Coach Geezy after the season. We are so close to our return to glory!

I think the WRs are gonna get cancelled out of the Heisman race because their QBs are up there too though Coles' numbers are kind of low to begin with. If I had to guess, it'll go to Joe Jones.

TCU looks prime to get upset, I can't imagine they're too happy with their matchup. And Tulane drawing Ohio State will be interesting, neither team had the season they were expecting to have so a lot of is on the line. I wonder if there are any other coaches who need a bowl victory to get their AD off their case.

                      Go TCU! C'mon frogs!

I don't know why I haven't been getting update notifications. But I finally caught up. Still got a chance at double digits. Crazy to see how things turned out this year.

Still think you could be in title contention next year. These things take time. There's no Kirby Smart analogue here, and it'd be dumb for them to dump Geezy, though maybe not as unrealistic as I'd like.

Good luck in the rematch. Roll wave!

Brutal luck in that championship game. Turnovers always seem to be the name of the game, and both teams had their struggles holding onto the football but Tulane's turnovers seemed to always lead to points for the Gators. Brutal luck, especially with the strong performances by McBride and Lawson. That said, nothing to hold your head down about, and still a strong finish to the season. A win in the bowl game would go a long way, as I can't possibly imagine the AD would seriously consider firing you and expecting some other coach to live up to the standard that you've set with the program! They should be worried about Tulane slipping back into oblivion if they let you go and be doing anything in their power to prevent that from happening. Best of luck against the Buckeyes!

Interesting...I like that you are getting to see Ohio State again this season. I think they provide a very nice opponent for you in terms of television coverage and strength. That will certainly be a matchup the nation and your AD will be watching closely. I was a little worried you would draw a weaker opponent (ie an Illinois-esque type school).

You know I am loving the National Championship. Notre Dame has been primed for quite a while now with that recruiting class of ages past. I think the Irish take this one.

I agree with most that Roberts is the clear Heisman winner but I bet Jones takes it.

Ha...yeah TCU does look primed for the classic "we don't want to be in this bowl game" upset. I'll have to make sure to do some creative scheduling next year and make sure they play Texas moving forward.

The Heisman reveal is still to come, but it is worth pointing out that there have only been two non-QB Heisman winners over the course of this dynasty, one of them being the ever-popular RB Reggie Moore. It is hard to believe that we're about to be a full decade removed from #25's greatness!

I just hope I get the opportunity to be with the Wave next year. I think you're right though - this team is so close, especially if my boy Jimmy McBride returns.

I agree with you on the realism - if my contract doesn't get renewed, it somehow really won't feel all that wrong, given the type of money a guy with Coach Geezy's credentials would want and Tulane's history and lack of recent success. I hope it doesn't happen though and I can keep this dynasty chugging along for the foreseeable future!

Hopefully the A.D. recognizes what Coach Geezy has done. With the skins he has on the wall, he should be able to coach at Tulane as long as he wants to.

As for the title game, it was rough. Anytime you go into a 28-0 hole, you know it was a bad day. The sequence just before halftime will stay with me for a while. We had an opportunity to really cease all momentum, but the freshman Mosley blew it with the fumble.

I'll say that the SEC title monkey is officially on our backs now!

I thought it was pretty cool to see that we'd match up against Ohio St. again, and finish the season the way it started. We had a classic matchup the first time around, and hopefully this one is just as fun. You're right, a win against THE Ohio State University should go a long way in Geezy's upcoming contract talks.

That Notre Dame-Texas matchup will be legit. I was really hoping to see Alabama make it there to face the Irish, because that one really would have been one for the ages - too bad my team had to go and mess that one up! The Fighting Irish won't be going away any time soon either; they're bringing in top classes almost every year now.

This kid Sam Roberts had a hell of a season, just like former Texas WR Lance Moore did a couple of seasons ago for them when he had 169 receptions for 2,587 yards and 20 touchdowns, but even he didn't win the Heisman, much to the chagrin of their head coach (random sidenote- today is the one year anniversary of that post, wow). I don't know what they're feeding their wide receivers out in Austin lately, but they're really putting up some amazing stats.

                            Thanks as always brother!

Don’t get me wrong I want to see Tulane keep rolling, but all three of those would be intriguing stories if you keep going if forced to move on. Especially North Carolina as I don’t think I’ve seen a dynasty for them and they aren’t exactly always a contender.

Hope for the best though and that you stay in the Big Easy!

Ps watching their game against Memphis right now. Not a huge fan of the helmet and blackout jerseys lol
