Bucks still had the trade exception from the Greg Monroe trade, which was large enough to absorb Meeks’ contract.

He’s serving a suspension for his PED test last season.

Signing him now and locking up that space wouldn't make any sense. They're going to try to sign a star this offseason and keep his cap hold low, then give him his max afterwards. KP is going to get his money regardless, and this way the team keeps flexibility.

Looks like all it takes money wise would be Gordon and Nene, most other players on the roster cannot be traded yet or traded as part of a package. I would think Gordon and Nene while keeping PJ Tucker is the most likely package..

However, it looks like they might be able to trade Brandon Knight and absorb the extra 2 mil or whatever with their trade exception from Ryan Anderson's trade. This might be why it's 4 first round picks in the trade, as I don't believe Jimmy Butler is 4 first round picks better than Eric Gordon for what his role on the team would be.

That would be CP3, Harden, Jimmy, PJ, Capela - Melo, Gordon, Chriss, MCW, Ennis, Green.. That's a really deep team.

I wish I was as passionate about anything as Morey is about beating the Warriors. It's inspiring.

Must be something like 2020, 2022,2024,2026
Can picks that far in the future be traded?

                      I think it’s like 19, 21, 23, 25. I know you can’t go more than 7 years or trade consecutive picks..

Also Chriss and Knight can be traded as packages in just a few more days.

That's a lot of your future to give up just to lose to the Warriors...or worse, Lakers.

Win now mode makes sense. They are locked into this core for the long haul whether they add Jimmy to that mix or not. If they landed Jimmy they are undoubtedly better than last year unless they just absolutely don’t mesh.

But if Eric Gordon is part of the trade, there is no way Jimmy Butler is 4 first round picks better than Gordon.

Yeah but they need all of them to win now. And counting on Harden, CP3, and Butler to all be healthy in June is a bold move, Cotton.
