Despite Competitive First Half, UMES Falls to Iowa
Iowa City, IA -- Maryland-Eastern Shore played well to start the game Tuesday in a road match-up against the Iowa Hawkeyes. UMES led 23-20 with 5:50 remaining in the first half and would enter the break down only 1 with the score 34-33 in Iowa's favor. However, the Hawks could not hold on in the second half as they were eventually worn down by Iowa's superior talent and conditioning.
Iowa senior guard Arnaud Dasilva was the player of the game. He had 16 points, though he shot only 5-23 from the field and 4-19 from deep. Maryland-Eastern Shore was led by junior guard Ed Tyson who scored 19 points and shot 7-14. Freshman forward Ishmawiyl McFadden, who had scored two consecutive double-doubles and three double digit scoring nights to begin his career, only managed 1 point tonight on 0-4 shooting.
