2027 NCAA FOOTBALL BOWL SELECTION SHOW RESULTS

I love the roster parity that has occurred over time. Also, Joe Jones should be the Heisman winner. 43-1 TD-Int ratio? Gotta be kidding me!

        gotta get that 9th win!

looks like aside from DL you're not relying on too many SRs so you should be better next season, I'm making an early prediction of an SEC Championship.

Yes the roster parity is something I am amazed about. I said this before, but it was concerning seeing the letter grade curve drop a bit over the years, but to me, it feels like the game is playing as great as ever simulation-wise because of it. Every team, including my own, is handicapped in some form or fashion. The mere fact that after going to three straight national title games with Tulane at one point and winning two of them before things came crashing down to the point where I have now just gone a sixth straight season without even an SEC title, is great evidence of what the new curve has provided.

As for your other topic - Texas' offense, for whatever reason, has thrived in this dynasty. It is a wonder how they have yet to win a national title. Case and point:

          - In 2019, they had a Heisman winning QB named Adam Alexander that threw for 46 touchdowns and 0 interceptions!

          - In 2025, they had a very prolific wide receiver named Lance Moore who was a Heisman runner-up and finished that season with 169 receptions for 2,587 yards and 20 touchdowns.

          - Then, just this past year in 2026, they had a Heisman winning wide receiver named Sam Roberts that finished the year with 134 receptions for 1,923 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Now there's this guy Joe Jones...Just incredible stuff, and these are merely just the guys that I know of off-hand since they were well-documented.

Agree...barring an unexpected large contingent of juniors leaving (QB Rob Mason, TE Lucas Rodgers, and FS Trey Wade being chief among them), we should really be set for a big run next season, and we even have some great newcomers coming in as reinforcements with our 2028 recruiting class we have assembled so far. I feel really, really good about our chances next year.

            QB Joe Jones (93 overall)

After an incredible 2027 campaign, Texas QB Joe Jones becomes Longhorns' second consecutive Heisman winner in a vote that unsurprisingly wasn't really close at all

6-0 205 pound senior's outstanding 50 total touchdown, 1 interception season rewarded with nation's most prestigious award | Former 4-star recruit and Texas native follows former Texas WR Sam Roberts, who won last year's Heisman Trophy | Michigan RB Greg Lewis (93 ovr), who did not receive a Heisman ceremony invite despite 2,170-scrimmage yard 16-touchdown season, feels "deck was stacked in Jones' favor," vows to settle things in BCS title game | Tulane junior WR Grant Brady, a former #1 high school recruit in the nation and the only non-quarterback Heisman ceremony invitee, comes in third place

            2027 Heisman Memorial Trophy Winner

            14-QB Joe Jones (sr):

            352 of 466, 4,259 yds, 43 tds, 1 int | 130 car, 605 yds, 7 tds

6-3 206 pound FS Trey Wade has displayed a penchant for being in the right place at the right time for LSU's defense this season.

LSU FS Trey Wade caps off fantastic season by winning Bednarik and Thorpe honors

Third year defensive back's 85-tackle, 6-interception season earns him hardware after emerging as one of the best defenders in the nation | The deep safety in first year LSU defensive coordinator Charles Kelly's 4-2-5 scheme, former 4-star recruit and Timberlane, Louisiana native made big plays weekly for Tigers defense this season | LSU defensive backs coach Steve Ellis: Wade is the MVP of our defense and damn near possibly our overall MVP

Bednarik Award (nation's top defensive player) & Thorpe Award (nation's top DB):

              FS Trey Wade (jr)
              - 85 tackles (63 solo), 12 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 6 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery, 2 touchdowns

Well deserved awards for both players. Hopefully Texas can cap off the season with a title!

Yes, I must admit, I am rooting for them because I think they're long overdue and it would make for a heck of a comeback story for them after losing last year's title game, however a Michigan win would make our scheduled games versus the Wolverines next season and in 2029 a lot more juicier.

Game 13, Year 1 Preview (2027 season): LSU Tigers vs. Wisconsin Badgers

                    GAME 13 PREVIEW

                    Courtesy

Latest Line (courtesy Bovada - Las Vegas):

                    ....................4 1/2....................

Game Capsule: LSU and Wisconsin meet up in the 2027 Gator Bowl, marking only the fifth ever meeting between the two programs, and the third time they will meet in the postseason. A series that dates back to 1971, the Tigers currently hold a 3-1 overall record versus the Badgers, with their only loss coming four years ago in a 44-17 blowout loss in the Outback Bowl, which wrapped up the 2023 season.

First year LSU head coach D. Geezy has never faced Wisconsin in his head coaching career, but dating back to his time at Tulane, he holds a remarkable 10-2 all-time record versus Big 10 opponents. He also boasts an overall 11-5 record in bowl games, including defeating Penn St. in 2016 and Michigan in 2018 to win his only pair of national championships during his 18-year career.

A very run-heavy team, the Badgers will need a big game out of RB Donny Coker (76 ovr), who rushed for over 1,200 yards during the regular season. LSU's senior-laden defensive line - DE Lawrence Hicks (85 ovr), DE Joel McFarland (81 ovr), and DT Robert Carrington (83 ovr) are the only three senior players in the team's defensive starting lineup - will be a key to slowing down the Badgers' always-potent rushing attack.

Both of these teams have had brutal schedules to deal with this year, and each of them may be better than what their records indicate heading into the postseason.

noone super scary on that Wisconsin roster but not really any glaring holes either that I see.

Both safeties being impact players could be a factor though.

Do you think Darby will get a RS and stay? If so how would he fit in the DB lineup?

I think your assesment is spot-on. No one stands out for them on paper, but they look like a "pretty decent" team across the board; in other words, they have a typical Wisconsin roster - no one that will wow you, but you could easily see yourself on the wrong end of the scoreboard by the time the game ends if you don't bring your 'A' game.

I believe if we protect the football, and avoid allowing those two big time safeties to take over the game, we should come away with the W and get some much needed momentum heading into the off-season. Not allowing them to get out to a fast start will also be a key for us.

As for your question - CB Christian Darby has started 10 games this year for us, so even if medical redshirts was an option in this game (it's not), he would not qualify. We are losing him, however we do have a 4-star recruit named Vince Cromartie coming in next season that I think should come in rated high enough to take Darby's place next fall and perhaps be even better than he was, immediately.

And with all that said, after a long wait, it is finally time to knock out this bowl game!

Game 13, Year 1 (2027 season): LSU Tigers vs. Wisconsin Badgers

                            NR 38 -- 8-5
                            NR 51 -- 7-6

Wisconsin star FS Blake McCoy's 21-yard interception return for a touchdown increased the Badgers' lead to 21-10 in the second quarter and firmly put all the momentum on his team's side.

LSU's season comes to a disappointing conclusion in 51-38 Gator Bowl loss to Wisconsin that wasn't really close | After going down 10-0 early, Badgers take advantage of Tigers' mistakes to pull away, led 51-17 at one point | QB Rob Mason leads late rally to make things interesting, but his 432-yard 5-touchdown day was not enough to overcome 4 critical interceptions thrown | 13-point final score margin represents first year LSU head coach D. Geezy's biggest bowl loss of his coaching career as Tigers finish 8-5 for a second straight season, much to his chagrin

Jacksonville, FL -- LSU went into Saturday's New Year's Day matchup as a 4 1/2 point favorite over Wisconsin, and after going up 10-0 in the first quarter, seemed to be set to cruise to victory. However, the Badgers had other plans, as they'd subsequently go on a 51-7 run to pull away and eventually win in dominant fashion over the Tigers 51-38 in the Gator Bowl. Wisconsin senior WR Brian Simon caught 4 receptions for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns and RB Donny Coker had a huge day as well, as LSU's defense had no answer for the Badgers' offense for most of the game.

With Wisconsin down 10-0 early, WR Brian Simon's 78-yard touchdown turned the tide of the game and was his first of two scores on the day.

Following a 43-yard opening kickoff return by Tigers true freshman WR Brady Carter Jr. to start the game, LSU went on a 6-play 47-yard march which culminated with a 6-yard touchdown pass from QB Rob Mason to RB Scottie Rodgers that put their team up 7-0. And following an interception by CB Jerome Harmon on the Badgers' first offensive series, freshman PK Ross Bryant's 34-yard field goal would increase LSU's lead to 10-0 later in the first quarter, but that's when the wheels began to fall off for the Tigers.

Wisconsin QB Justin White's 78-yard touchdown pass to Simon, who beat Harmon, on the very first play of the next drive following Bryant's field goal cut the Badgers' deficit to 10-7. Then, early in the second quarter, Wisconsin would take the lead when White and Simon hooked up another time, once again with Simon matched up versus Harmon in one-on-one coverage, this time from 20 yards away to make the score 14-10, and the Badgers would never look back. Unfortunately for LSU, the bleeding was just getting started.

On the Tigers' very next offensive play from scrimmage after falling behind, Mason attempted to hit S. Rodgers on a short pass in the flat, apparently a big part of LSU's game plan as Rodgers finished with a career-high 10 receptions for 124 yards and 2 touchdowns. However, Badgers star FS Blake McCoy perfectly read the play and jumped in front of S. Rodgers just before the ball's arrival, picked it off and returned it 21 yards for a touchdown, increasing the Wisconsin lead to 21-10.

LSU would stop the bleeding temporarily, when Mason found TE Lucas Rodgers in the end zone for a 4-yard touchdown with just under three minutes to go in the half to cut their team's deficit to 21-17, however that would be the last time the Tigers would dent the scoreboard for quite a while. After the Tigers surrendered a touchdown pass from White to TE Drew Washington, an interception thrown by Mason to CB Chase Potts just before halftime resulted in a field goal by Badgers PK Jake Gorman, increasing the Wisconsin lead to 31-17 going into the break.

"This was just not our day today," said LSU offensive coordinator Anthony High. Sometimes, it just feels like a never-ending avalanche and any time we did something well, either it would get called back due to a penalty or we'd screw something up on the next play...we were just so sloppy."

LSU had no answers for Badgers RB Donny Coker as he finished the game with 19 carries for 163 rushing yards, including this 56-yard third quarter touchdown that made the score 44-17 and blew the game wide open.
Wisconsin (7-6) would go on to score 30 unanswered points, using a steady balance of power-running by Coker and efficient passing by White. Coker finished the game with 19 carries for 163 yards, and his 56-yard touchdown in the third quarter that put the Badgers up 44-17, just before White's fourth touchdown pass of the day, this one to WR Richard Hunter, increased Wisconsin's lead to 51-17.

"We couldn't stop nothing today and that's on me. They ran when they wanted to; they passed when they wanted to," said Tigers defensive coordinator Charles Kelly. "This was just a piss-poor effort, and I don't buy any of this 'Well we were off for so long' bullcrap because they were off too and whipped our tails."

Now down by 34, the Tigers would finally awaken out of their hibernation in fourth quarter to make somewhat of a game of it.

Mason's 3-yard touchdown pass to S. Rodgers cut the team's deficit to 51-24, then LSU got the ball back quickly via an interception by DB Mario Reed on the Badgers' next offensive possession. However, Mason would return the favor by throwing an interception of his own in "goal to go" territory to CB Danny Bowers, his fourth interception thrown during the contest. Mason finished the afternoon 28 of 59 for 432 yards with 5 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.

"We did not come in here today intending to throw the ball 60 times, no," said LSU head coach D. Geezy, who noted than S. Rodgers' 10 carries for only 20 yards played a hand in what turned out to be a heavy passing day. "We did like our matchups early and I thought we were successful with the pass on the first couple of drives. We did intend to run the ball more however, but the game flow and overall ineffectiveness with the run dictated something else. You drop back that much, you're going to throw interceptions, especially against a good defense like this one."

Tigers QB Rob Mason threw for a season-high 432 yards and 5 touchdowns, however the 4 interceptions he threw marred the stat sheet.

Mason would end up throwing two more touchdown passes during the game's final period - a 74-yarder to WR Joe Burnett and a 41-yarder to WR Glen Walker - and cut the deficit to 51-38. The team did get the ball back with just over three minutes remaining with a chance to do more damage, however it was all for naught as they'd end up turning the ball over on downs after crossing midfield. LSU would never get the ball back, and their miracle comeback attempt came to a screeching halt.

With his record now 11-6 in bowl games, the 13-point loss on Saturday represents Geezy's largest bowl loss ever in his career (the previous worst losses were by 8, in 2011 and 2014). LSU finishes the year 8-5, identical to its record of the past two seasons prior to Geezy's arrival.

"Obviously this was a disappointing conclusion to what was a very enjoyable season," said Geezy. The #1 takeaway after a game like this today is just that we must figure out how do we get better at being consistent, really on both sides of the ball. We've had outstanding offensive games and horrific offenses games this season, and the same can be said about the defense. Our off-season will really be focused on figuring out how to put together good performances on both sides of the ball, week-in, week-out, both schematically and in terms of making sure we have the right player personnel on the field in order to get it done. And you can include special teams in that as well.

"I know I wasn't hired here for 8-win seasons. Say what you want about this being year one of installing our program or what have you, but this was not a satisfying way of concluding the year, and 8-5 is not acceptable. We have a lot of work to do, and today served as a very strong reminder of that."

LSU senior DE Joel McFarland laments walking off the field for final time in his career and unfortunately having to do so with confetti raining down on him following Wisconsin's surprisingly dominant victory.

LSU prepared to march onto the field hoping to get a win and to finish with a better record than last year's 8-5 campaign.

WR Glen Walker, who would eventually finish with 5 receptions for 84 yards, took in the moment as pyrotechnics rained down during the pregame festivities.

A Wisconsin cheerleader may have bared a little too much as the United States Air Force performed a flyover after the singing of the National Anthem.

True freshman RB Scottie Rodgers celebrated with Mike the Tiger following his 6-yard touchdown reception which gave LSU an early 7-0 lead on the game's opening possession.

With his team down 10-7, Wisconsin WR Brian Simon made an athletic catch in the back of the end zone over LSU CB Jerome Harmon, giving his team a 14-10 lead early in the second quarter.

With only seconds remaining until halftime, QB Rob Mason got hit by DT Adam Long as he attempted to throw and the ball fluttered into the awaiting hands of Badgers CB Chase Potts' for an interception which led to a field goal that made the score 31-17 just before halftime.

Wisconsin fans were going bonkers with their team holding an impressive two touchdown advantage going into the second half.

Badgers QB Justin White threw three interceptions during the contest, however they were offset by the 4 touchdown passes he threw as he finished 13 of 22 for 206 yards.

Redshirt junior RB Donny Coker hurdled over freshman SS Dominique Woods on this 18-yard gain and was a problem throughout the contest for the Tigers defense, as he finished the day with 19 carries for 163 yards and a touchdown, helping the Badgers amass a whopping 51-17 lead.

DE Jeremy Long notched Wisconsin's only sack of the contest in the third quarter, however Mason faced heat and was effected by pressure all game long.

Rodgers fought through freshman DE Tony Walker's attempt to tackle him before reaching the end zone, however that attempt failed and his 3-yard touchdown reception cut LSU's incredibly large fourth quarter deficit to 51-24. Rodgers was stymied on the ground but did finish the afternoon with 10 receptions for 124 yards and 2 receiving touchdowns, all career-highs.

With his team "nursing" a 51-24 lead, CB Danny Bowers' interception near the goal line with 5:30 remaining severely hindered any hopes of a miracle comeback for LSU.

Junior WR Joe Burnett got the best of Bowers on this 74-yard touchdown reception late in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late for the Tigers.

Despite a late push by LSU that made things a bit interesting in the final minutes, Wisconsin was able to hold on to its big lead and in the end celebrated a huge New Year's Day bowl win.

2027 NCAA FOOTBALL BOWL GAME REVIEW

Texas star QB Joe Jones had no problems picking apart Michigan's secondary and finished the night 20 of 28 for 262 yards to go along with 3 touchdowns and, per the usual, 0 interceptions.

Led by Heisman Trophy winning QB Joe Jones' stellar performance, Texas takes home its first national championship since 2005 in 42-9 rout over Michigan, just one year after losing title game to Notre Dame | Wolverines' inability to stop Longhorns' passing attack leads to them leaving New Orleans empty-handed once again, just like in 2023's Superdome title game loss to Florida; Michigan junior RB Greg Lewis, who "guaranteed victory" over Texas after being snubbed for Heisman honors following 2000-scrimmage yard, 16-touchdown season, held to just 96 yards on 21 carries and no scores in a game that was never really close | #4 USC's 27-17 Fiesta Bowl win over #3 West Virginia nets Trojans national runner-up status
