Re: OS Roundtable: How Excited Are You That NCAA Games Are Potentially Returning?
While I'm excited for the possible return of NCAA Football, I have my excitement in check. Until we start hearing about the compensation models NCAA is proposing and hear rumors/reports that EA has approached NCAA about reaquiring the license, then I want to keep my hopes in check. But I do think the could get core group of developers back on the game. Ben Haumiller and Christian McCloud still works on Madden and Rex Dickson has said on twitter he would be very interested to get back to working on NCAA Football. For us, it would be important for the developers to get same level of creative Freedom as before. We all know Madden gets controlled by marketing and higher ups. I feel like as long as NCAA broke even and kept status quo, they had the creative freedom.
For me, as long as they can pick up where they left off in NCAA 14(as far as modes) or not turn into Madden lite, I would buy day 1 with no hesitation. I've never said that about Madden. NCAA has so much more replayability for me. I'm a person where once I win a title and/or my team gets dominant, honestly I start losing interest. But with roster turnover and recruiting, you always got to think 1-2 years ahead. And that gives you something to play for. In a game like Madden, your roster can look and feel the same because of contracts and draft/FA. But with NCAA, your roster will look different every 2-3 years and you have to plan ahead especially if someone might declare early or transfer. Like when I get to year 9(6th year with current team), i can lose up to 8 players on offense and only of those players is a OL. My offense would look completely different, and I'm looking forward to adapting to it
