Madden 19 or 20?

I've got 19 free. I keep hearing about glitches and upgrades in 20.

Which should I do?

Twenty is better in every single aspect, in my opinion. It's not perfect, and there are still some extreme moments of Madden weirdness, but I've played three full seasons so far in Madden 20 and I'm still not sick of it. Played less than one season in 19.

M20, hands down. I find that it plays a better game of football. I’m also way more immersed in franchise than I ever was in M19. I play offline CFM.

I’d go back to M18 or M16 before picking up M19 again.

I had a funny vulgar response written for this but I'll be sensible instead.

M19 was horrible in most ways
M20 is an improvement and has a balance of good and bad things.

But asking to compare something half bad to something completely bad gives you a false sense m20 is good. It's not brilliant but it's better.

If you combined the good aspects and fixes of each madden over the last 10 years you'd have a legendary madden but all are flawed in their own way individually.

If you favor a wide open passing game where QBs can regularly hit 70% of passes, definitely go for 20.

Or if you utilize the tools of the game, feel good about holding QB's to mid 50's to mid 60's passing %'s.

YMMV depending on your play and call style.

This ^^^^^ Right here. Enough said.

The game is what you make it. It literally gives you the tools to make a really good game of sim football. It's not perfect, but it's one of the better Maddens... possibly the best of this generation. My opinion.

Try it on EA Access, see if you really want to go backwards.

M20 felt so different initially I gave up a safety my opening drive because of the throwing timing changes.

I can't imagine going backwards after M20. It's not perfect, but X Factors, Superstars, Scenarios, RPOs and more all make 20 way better than 19.

No way for me to know which edition you'd prefer. Only you can say. Perhaps rent game or sign up for free trial so as you can decide for yourself.

I will say that the game feels and plays very, very differently from Madden 19. I think M20 plays light years better, and I actually liked Madden 19, but you may view it differently. Good luck.

This is pretty much exactly how I feel about Madden 20, it’s an improvement over 19 but 19 was imo was a terrible version of the game. I think 20 in some ways offers some of the best gameplay that we’ve had in sometime, of course there are some issues still namely with coverage logic, especially zone coverages.
Same with franchise mode while there were some improvements to franchise like the more realistic contracts, they didn’t give us all of the tools to manage these contracts and the a.i. is just bad at managing them to begin with. Also the scenario engine that they gave us operates nothing like the they initially described it as when they sold us the feature, which is a shame because if it worked as initially described it would of added a ton of fun factor to the mode.

Overall this game is an improvement over the last few maddens in my opinion but that’s not saying much because we still haven’t gotten what I feel has been a complete game this console generation.

What about 18? It’s really cheap at GameStop, just wondering if I should pick it up over 20. The last madden I played was 17 so only have that to go on as far as this gen

For me post last patch this is the best playing User vs CPU Madden ever by a wide margin and I've been playing the game since the beginning.(H2H play is another universe which I don't play so it doesn't enter into the equation for me) I completely disagree with those folks who say that 20 is bad or a mixed bag.

I see an occasional hiccup with pass coverage or CPU QB movement in the pocket, but nothing like the issues that other are seeing on that front. Someone who doesn't like the core gameplay mechanics of Madden isn't going to be drawn to the game, but if you actually like how Madden plays, it's tough for me to see how anyone prefers any other versions of Madden in any generation over this one, but obviously some people do.

Folks will argue that it should have been this way at release, and that is probably true, there were too many missteps along the way, but I see literally more than a dozen gameplay improvements from what the game was at launch.
