          Sam Hudson Stat Update

I probably should've done this before I posted the Wild Card results, but c'est la vie. I wanted to give a statistic/award update before I start the playoffs for the Redskins.

First off, Sam Hudson had literally the second best season as a running back in NFL history by two yards. Hudson rushed for 2103 yards on 356 rushes and scored 21 touchdowns on the ground. As a reminder, we had Le'Veon Bell on the team. By no means did he have an amazing season, but as a RB2 behind a back who rushed for 2000 yards, Bell rushed for a respectable 749 yards on 143 rushes and 16 touchdowns. Basically, the running game is important to the Redskins offense (Kirk Cousins had the 34th most passing yards and 33rd most passing touchdowns... as a starting QB).

Hudson's going to need a new shelf for all of his hardware that he got this year. To award this amazing season, Hudson won the NFL MVP, the NFC OPOY, and the NFC RB of the Year, and he was voted to be in the Pro Bowl.

Hudson also set (or came close to setting) some records. He has the most rushing yards in a game in NFL history with 309 yards, becoming the first RB to do that ever. He also has the second most rushing yards in a season in NFL history, behind only Eric Dickerson by just 2 yards.

That's about all I can think of that's noteworthy from this season so far. I won't be playing any more games tonight and the hope is I'll be able to finish the season tomorrow. If not, I won't be able to finish it until Thursday night, so I may be inactive for a while.

2018 NFC Divisional Playoff: Carolina Panthers (9-7) @ Washington Redskins (12-4)

After having the best record in the NFC, the Redskins earned home-field advantage and the number one seed in the NFC. Washington hosts the Panthers in Landover and the Redskins look to grab their first home win in the Divisional Round since 1991.

Neither team was able to get anything going to start off the game. However, Sam Hudson started off the scoring with an 8-yard rush with less than a minute to go in the first half. The defense forced a field goal by the Panthers to end the half.

Hudson scored another touchdown on the Redskins' first drive of the second half that took more than a quarter of time off of the clock. The Panthers scored a touchdown and converted the 2-point conversion to slim the lead to 3 points. The Redskins were able to hold on after running out the clock with a 3-point lead.

2018 NFC Championship: Seattle Seahawks (10-4-2) @ Washington Redskins (12-4)

Making their second straight NFC Championship, the Redskins look to make their second Super Bowl in as many years by defeating the Seahawks at home in a wintry storm.

Deferring until the second half, the Redskins were able to score on their first drive after being given great field possession by the defense. Sam Hudson walked into the end zone untouched from 6 yards out and immediately went to make a snow angel on the field. After another stop by the defense, Hudson was able to walk into the end zone untouched once again, this time from 7 yards out. After the third forced turnover of the game, the Redskins were able to score a field goal to increase the lead.

On the first drive of the second half, the Redskins weren't able to score, making it the first drive of the game that they didn't score on. However, the defense was able to make up for it by scoring a safety. Hudson scored his 3rd touchdown of the game in the 4th quarter after a 30-yard sprint towards the end zone. Even though the game had been sealed by the end of the third quarter, Hudson closed the game off with a 6-yard rush for a touchdown. With the huge win over the Seahawks, the Redskins were able to advance to their second straight Super Bowl.

Super Bowl LIII: Kansas City Chiefs (10-5-1) vs Washington Redskins (12-4)

In the Redskins' second straight Super Bowl, Washington finally looks to get the job done, this time against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in Atlanta.

After a stop by the Redskins, the offense settled for a field goal inside the red zone. Sam Hudson scored his first touchdown of the game after another stop by the defense. He punched it in with less than 10 seconds left in the first half from the 1-yard line.

In the second half, the Redskins were unable to score any points on their first drive, which allowed the Chiefs to score a field goal and get back into the game. The offense was stopped again, but the defense came through by returning an interception for a touchdown. The Chiefs came back down the field and scored a touchdown. However, it was too little, too late, as the Redskins were able to run out the clock and win their 4th Super Bowl in franchise history.

Hudson stays in Washington for one more year

The news has broken out that starting running back for the Washington Redskins, Sam Hudson, has decided to finish out his rookie contract. "I've loved my two seasons here in Washington," said Hudson in the press conference today. "After this Super Bowl win, I'm extremely motivated to go out there again and win another one."

Hudson has led the Redskins to two straight Super Bowls, winning the most recent appearance in Atlanta. Hudson was two yards off from having the most rushing yards in a season in NFL history last season, which gave him a great resume to win the NFL MVP, the NFC OPOY, and the NFC RB of the Year. He also had 2 Pro Bowl appearances, although he hasn't ever played in one.

I just wanted to give an update on the "journeyman" situation. Technically, I could've (and should've) demanded a release and switched teams, but when I was simming through the offseason, the game advanced past the point where I could demand a release. I've researched it, and it has happened a lot in Madden 18 franchise mode and the only solution is to have a coach/owner as another character to stop the auto-advance.

I feel satisfied with my time in Washington and I'm thinking about simming through this next season to switch things up. Technically, I can sim an entire season and not play at all.

There's nothing in the House Rules that say anything against it, so I'm actually taking it into consideration. If we end up making it to the Super Bowl again simply by simulating it, then I'll play that game, but other than that, I don't really see myself playing a game as the Redskins again.

If anybody has any input, let me know. You'll probably have a couple days for some input because the plan is I won't be playing until Thursday afternoon.

Alright, so I've decided to sim through the season, but I'll still give some of the standings and playoff results that I would usually give anyways. Like I said, if we end up making it to the Super Bowl again, I'll play that game but, otherwise, I won't play any games this season.
