Preliminary Game 8
2016 Seattle Seahawks (10-5-1) vs 2018 Houston Texans (11-5)
Seahawks Survive Texans Test
A battle between two of the most athletic quarterbacks of any era played out at Century Link Field, but in the end it was the defenses that decided the game. The hosts, bolstered by their fans, went up 10-0 in the first quarter with Alex Collins scoring the first touchdown. From there however the Texans defense played very well and in the end held the home team to 25 yards total on the ground. The Seattle defense was just as stout, Deshaun Watson had a hard time getting free and heading into the final period Houston was down by 10; they punted 10 times in the game. Still Watson found Demaryus Thomas for a short score with 2 minutes to play and cut the lead to three. Russell Wilson and the Seahwaks were able to convert a couple first downs and preserve the win in a tough, aggressive game. The modern game can be just as brutal as the old one.
