How are y'all stacking up VC?
The struggle is real. Currently playing My Career and average around 1300VC a game. About 30 games in, sitting on 71 overall and still have a long *** way to go still. I need about another 70k VC if I want to hit a measly 80ovr which is another 53 games or so.

Re: How are y'all stacking up VC?
I'm probably going to start MyCareer today. It sucks how they just stripped down the MyNBA2k app to where it is 2 different apps where the MyNBA2k21 is just for facescans(which are mostly terrible) and the Super Card app does the card games. You can't get VC from the app like you use to. Even since the lowered the amount of VC you could get from app since MyNBA2k17, it still stacks up over time. Even going by last year where you could get 500VC a day by doing daily login bonus and quick game. If I had my PS4 and was able to use the app daily since September to now, I would have had stacked up over 62000 VC. That would have gotten me to 75+OVR. Just wish they would relax on the starting at 60 OVR just to entice people to buy VC to be competitive in Online right away. If that's the case, separate offline and online in MyCareer.
Definitely want to know good ways to stack up VC because I have no desire to buy VC -
Re: How are y'all stacking up VC?
There is no real way to be honest. Some years back I acquired lots of VC just by playing in our online league. They loudly proclaimed that "VC can be get by just playing this game, regardless of mode". Yeah, now see where we got today. Is there even any other mode besides MyPlayer where you get VC?Comment

Re: How are y'all stacking up VC?
No real way to do it faster although you get some extra VC from endorsements. If you can perform ok on HoF, you get more VC from playing that. Lowering the quarters to 5 minutes makes the games go faster as well. You can also sim to the end of the game once you’re up by 25 in the second half.
The one thing I would recommend is to sim to the playoffs after you’ve played 35 games (actually PLAYED them). One, you’ll get the gym rat badge and secondly you’ll get a better contract to get more VC in your second season.

Good idea, but I think the Playoffs are gonna be tough for me since I'm a 71over and 2K loves to nerf my team mates Lebron and AD.No real way to do it faster although you get some extra VC from endorsements. BTW, how much more can you get on your next contract? I played through story so I'm getting 750 VC now.Comment

Re: How are y'all stacking up VC?
I typically don't sim until I get close to 90 OVR. I never tried to grind to 99 OVR, I just always want the 90 OVR award. Unlocking ability to suggest trades, signings, lineups, and playcalls always makes the mode more enjoyableNo real way to do it faster although you get some extra VC from endorsements. The bigger contract does help, my issue is that I like to play 12 minutes quarters because I want realistic stats. So it takes me awhile to get to point to sim gamesLast edited by illwill10; 01-07-2021, 07:01 PM.Comment

Re: How are y'all stacking up VC?
If your intentions are to take your player online, i would Just pay the bread bro. Sad but thats what its come too. If not, i guess you’ll be a 90 by next season.Comment

Re: How are y'all stacking up VC?
No intention to play online. But I understand why it's almost like you have to just to be competitive.
But usually I have enough VC to start around 75. Usually I can end around 90 by after playoffs.Comment

Re: How are y'all stacking up VC?
Yeah it is very tough to efficiently grind VC just from playing the game, the most efficient way to do it is to simulate ahead a few seasons to increase your salary and then get your minutes lowered to 5 a game (the minimum 2k will go) by playing badly (you can do this by just leaving your game running while you do other things so your guy will stand around and get a terrible teammate grade). Using this method you can finish entire games in about 10 minutes, and if you are quick with skipping all the post game stuff you can reasonably get about 5 games done in an hour. Although you won't get bonuses for completing endorsement challenges or statistical driven bonuses, given a salary around 750 VC a game, and enough earned endorsements (always negotiate the per-game VC up and remove an incentive) you will average about 1k VC a game, and about 5k VC an hour.
Note the best way if you actually want to earn my points and get badge progress as well (because the method I just outlined above will not help with that), is to make a build with a high three point shot... upgrade your 3 fully and get HOF hot shot (note high ball handling with a high level of Space Creator helps), and play 5 minute quarters. Then just get a little space from the AIs and make enough 3s to get team takeover and then just continue making 3s. This is an easy way to get a 25 point lead early in the 2nd half which let you complete the game quickly, and honestly you can get through a game in 12-15 minutes sometimes (if the other team plays poorly enough to get way down early), so it isn't that much more inefficient than the intentionally playing bad method I described in the first paragraph.
Still to grind even 50k you are talking about 10 hours worth of playing time (assuming you average 5k VC an hour), and considering you can buy 75k VC for $20 you would have to value your time at < $1.33 an hour to justify grinding those 15ish hours vs just paying $20 (especially because in order to earn 5k VC an hour you will not be getting any mycareer progress). I certainly admire the mindset of not paying for VC because it plays into 2ks love of microtransactions, but it can be hard to logically justify sometimes given how tough it is to earn VC in my Career.Comment

Re: How are y'all stacking up VC?
If you want to grind then 5 min on lowest difficulty is the way.
Get a big lead and sim to end with vc.
Go for max vc and nothing else with endorsements and it can go fast.
Especially if you into your second season and beyond.
You can dropstep your big through a game real quick lol

Re: How are y'all stacking up VC?
Hilarious you mention this. I broke down and bout 75k VC, having way, way more fun now. I'm still 74 overall. This may very well be my last 2K ever at this point. The grind is just too much. And just think, I have to do it all over again in 9 months.
Also I'm not even getting all my VC. For example, I'd earn 1300 from a game, but only have 1100. It's happened several times and I don't know how.Last edited by ImInThis; 01-08-2021, 04:10 PM.Comment

Re: How are y'all stacking up VC?
At the end of day, this is how it has been for a while. Either you break down and buy VC or you grind it ouf for a while. The whole thing is just to tempt people to buy VC by making your player start at 60 and purchasing accessories. I just wish they would start you out a 75 OVR. Your player is always touted as a young phenom heading into league but they want to start you at 60. I wouldn't mind the grind starting at 75 because at least you're at level of other rookies and you can contribute right away.
I skipped last couple 2ks because of this. I give them a pass this year with transition to next gen in a pandemic. But, I hope they change this format or at least separate offline and online. I would do Player-lock, but i don't want to deal with all the extra stuff that comes with it. I have limited time to play games, I want to be able to enjoy it right away without having to spend $20-50.Comment

Yep,some of us have been saying for years that they basically run 2K the same way they run GTA Online and RDR2 Online (that is to say, pretty much like a mobile game).Sadly, unless enough people wake up and start refusing to buy micros long enough that it kills their bottom line, it won't change any time soon.At the end of day, this is how it has been for a while. Re: How are y'all stacking up VC?
Honestly, I don't see it changing. If someone is going to buy VC, they're at least spending $20-50 minimum just so they can either get their player to 75-85 OVR. Then some will spend $10-20 more on animations, $10-30 on accessories. And that's just on one build. Some probably do it for multiple builds. It's crazy to think that some spend over $200(including game) on 2k and other sports games every year. Thats why it won't change. If they are making billions off of microtransactions alone, why change it.Yep,some of us have been saying for years that they basically run 2K the same way they run GTA Online and RDR2 Online (that is to say, pretty much like a mobile game).Sadly, unless enough people wake up and start refusing to buy micros long enough that it kills their bottom line, it won't change any time soon.
That's why I preferred Live's The One approach. If the gameplay was on the same level as 2k, I would have chosen Live over 2k. You start out at 70 OVR. You can't spend money to progress your player, but you can get you progress relatively fast, just by grinding. I remember getting to 90 OVR relatively fast in The One. On one hand, $10-30 doesn't seem like much to get your build to 70-80 OVR. But on the other hand, i shouldn't have to spend $10-30 extra on top of what I'm paid for game just so my build is playable right away. Keep that pay to win approach for mobile games and online portion of MyCareerLast edited by illwill10; 01-09-2021, 06:09 AM.Comment
