Old head considering a Show comeback...

...some may remember me, most will not, but i used to be a big slider guy on OS for the Show for many years (think Perfect Sliders).

For various reasons ive been away from the Show since 18, albeit a brief pop on '19 but nothing much.

Seriously considering putting my PS5 to use by getting '21.

A question if i may...

Im a Tigers fan but fancy a team middle of the road, not stacked but could contend, any recommendations?

Also nice to see some of the older heads still around here from when i used to be on a lot, Country/Armor/Tomba/Cujo etc.

Hope all are well.

Any thoughts appreciated.

In the past i used to fret about rosters, sliders etc waaaay too much, never let myself just enjoy the game.

If i do take the plunge with '21 im simply going to pick a team, roll with default All-Star, SDS rosters and let it fly.

Youre too kind - think i got lucky.

Yeah im reading a lot of negative prose about '21, and much seems justified, removal of SOTS (which i used to love), Y2Y, XP etc, but as someone who simply now, after too many stressful years just wants to see if his old love of ball is still there, surely '21 cant be that bad?

That said, '20 is dirt cheap now for me (only £15, around $20) if i wanted it, so maybe that would be the way to go.

Get '20 my friend. Best it has ever been and plays a great game of Baseball and its 1/4 the price at least.

'20 is dirt cheap and looks like it plays a great game of ball, but '21 is fine if i just...play ball, and dont sweat the other stuff, or is it.

Really dunno which way to go...which i guess is why im here asking for advice :o

Ok here is my honest opinion. There is a lot wrong with 21 right now. Lotsa of issue and basic change to formats. Really leaning heavy on the micro transactions and Diamond Dynasty stuff. But people are saying it plays a good game of ball.

20 is the best of the Generation of PS4. It plays an amazing game of Ball and you are basically familiar with all of the mechanics already so no real learning curve. Its been thru the cycle so all of the patches are done. It works and nothing to wait on. Great selection of rosters. If you are looking for a hassle free just put in and play 20 is the way to go. 21 may be there in 3 to 6 months but you know how it goes with this game and patches.

Excellent points regarding patches and rosters etc that wont come for '21 for some time, not something id thought of.

I had noted in the roster forum some fine chap has made a '21 Opening Day roster for '20 which judging by the comments of some wise old heads appears to be stellar, so...theres that.

Plus '20 will play like a smooth block of ice on 4k/60 on the PS5.

Hmmm, could be swaying that way but any more opinions much appreciated.

I actually messaged you a few months ago lol. Just assumed you weren’t into the game anymore. I stopped using sliders after you didn’t post anymore. Went to default until 20. Tried using other people’s for a few franchise seasons. It just wasn’t the same (insert grown man crying) I don’t know if you have last year’s version of the game or have even been playing for the last few years but if not you should give it a shot if you are uncertain about 21.

I found something that has made this a whole new world for me and is one of the main reasons I am not switching.

Bacon did this Fictional Roster that is just Glorious. All fictional players throughout the entire league. All with service time and stats. My friend it is like Heaven on a Baseball field. Having absolutely no pre conceived notion of who is who, whether a team is good or bad. You have to actually scout teams and players. Pay attention to what is going on in the league and scouting. It truly is the best it has ever been for me. Just pick a team and team and play because you have no idea what the hell is going on anyway. It has really changed my whole outlook on the game itself.

But yeah, my opinion is 20 is the way to go either way. Just a complete and done game with a lot more options and a whole lot less stress.

Apologies for the lack of reply - my visits to OS have been fleeting only for a few years now for personal reasons, but for some reason this felt like a good time to get back on the wagon.

Anyway, Bullits post and the logic it contained was enough to convince me - '20 is downloading as i type, and i look forward to trying it tomorrow.

Might even look at sliders, who knows...ive already told myself off for even thinking about that!
