Also this seems to be making the argument that just because worse fouls exist that this one can't also be labeled as excessive and unnecessary as well. Just because knocking some airborne player out from under his feet is more dirty, more dangerous, more likely to cause injury, doesn't mean that this foul doesn't (at least debatably) meet the criteria for a flagrant 2. Both of those things can be true at the same time. This play doesn't need to be malicious in intent or have a high chance of causing injury for it to meet the criteria for the foul to be called.

If Steph Curry drops a player to his feet, steps back and drops a 30ft bomb at the buzzer, and Bruce Bowen just stands in a corner and hits the open 3 after someone else did all the work, both of those shots are still worth 3 points. Doesn't mean they are the same, and also doesn't matter that they aren't.
