Springer Goes Deep Twice As Blue Jays Continue Pitching Dominance

George Springer went deep twice after being held hitless on Opening Day as the Blue Jays took down the Baltimore Orioles 6-0 at Camden Yards on Saturday. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. added in a solo shot for the Blue Jays in the win. Alek Manoah turned in a gem of a start, going 7 innings while racking up 10 strikeouts. The young righty looked dominant against a weak Orioles lineup all night long.

Jays Slug Their Way To Sweep Over Orioles

The Toronto Blue Jays mashed four homers en-route to a 7-4 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday at Camden Yards. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. smacked his first homer of the season, along with long balls from George Springer, Teoscar Hernandez, and Matt Chapman - his first as a Blue Jay.

Jose Berrios surrendered three runs over five innings of the work, picking up a no-decision in his first start of the season.

Anthony Santander and Robinson Chirinos went deep for the Orioles in the loss. Baltimore is the only team to get swept on Opening Weekend this season.

Ryu Twirls Complete Game Gem In Home Opener

Hyun-Jin Ryu dazzled in front of a sold-out Toronto home crowd on Monday evening, turning in an impressive complete game effort in his first start of the season.

The Blue Jays got to Rays starter Ryan Yarbrough early on with the long ball. Offseason acquisition Matt Chapman made an immediate impression in front of the home crowd, launching a grand slam in the bottom of the first to get the Jays going. Toronto would add two more in the third when Teoscar Hernandez went deep with a two-run blast off the Rays lefty.

Rays shortstop Wander Franco left the game in the 7th inning with what the team is describing as a shoulder injury. The young prospect is expected to miss the rest of the series and will be evaluated by team doctors.

The Blue Jays go for their fifth straight win to kick off the new season tomorrow evening against the Rays. Yusei Kikuchi is expected to make his Blue Jays debut against Rays righty Drew Rasmussen

Blue Jays Squeeze Past Rays In Pitching Battle

Drew Rasmussen and Yusei Kikuchi went head-to-head in a pitcher's duel on Tuesday evening, with the Toronto Blue Jays squeezing out a 2-1 win to stay undefeated on the season.

Rasmussen tossed five innings for the Rays, allowing just one run on three hits. Kikuchi impressed in his first start as a member of the Blue Jays, working eight innings of one-run ball before handing it over to the bullpen to close things out.

Toronto scored both of their runs via RBI singles coming off the bats of Danny Jansen and Teoscar Hernandez. The Rays scored their lone run of the game when Brandon Lowe went deep in the fourth inning off of Kikuchi.

The Blue Jays look to completed their second straight sweep to kick off the new season tomorrow evening, with Kevin Gausman taking the mound against Tyler Glasnow.

Lowe Goes Deep Twice, Glasnow Dominant As Rays Top Blue Jays

The Tampa Bay Rays handed the Toronto Blue Jays their first loss of the season, squeaking out a 3-2 victory on the road on Wednesday evening.

Brandon Lowe went deep twice off Jays starter Kevin Gausman to power the Tampa Bay offence, who also received a solo homer off the bat of Randy Arozarena.

Rays starter Tyler Glasnow looked dominant against a red-hot Toronto lineup, tossing seven innings of two-run ball while striking out seven.

The Blue Jays' only glimpse of offence came in the fourth inning, when Raimel Tapia connected on a Glasnow fastball and deposited it into the right field seats for a two-run blast.

The Blue Jays get a day off before they try to get back into the win column against the visiting Texas Rangers, with Alek Manoah getting the ball against Rangers southpaw Taylor Hearn.

Hernandez The Hero As Blue Jays Walk Off Rangers

The Toronto Blue Jays got back into the win column on Friday night with a 3-2 walk-off victory against the Texas Rangers.

Teoscar Hernandez played the role of hero with an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning that scored Vladimir Guerrero Jr. from second, securing Toronto's sixth win of the season.

Taylor Hearn and Alek Manoah battled it out over the first five innings of the game, with Hearn surrendering two runs on four hits and Manoah doing slightly better, allowing one run on four hits.

Adolis Garcia made things interesting in the 7th inning, launching a game-tying solo homer off Toronto reliever Julian Merryweather to tie the ballgame at 2-2. The Blue Jays' other two runs came via solo homers from Matt Chapman and Lourdes Gurriel Jr..

The Blue Jays look to secure a series win on Saturday afternoon as they send Jose Berrios to the mound against Texas righty Spencer Howard.

Blue Jays Offence Explodes In Win Over Rangers

After squeezing out a 3-2 walk-off win on Friday evening, the Toronto Blue Jays took a very different approach on Saturday, scoring runs in the first four innings en route to a 8-5 victory over the Texas Rangers.

Bo Bichette got things started for the Blue Jays with a solo homer in the bottom of the first inning and the Blue Jays never looked back, putting up six runs on eight hits in just over three innings against Rangers starter Spencer Howard.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Teoscar Hernandez, and Danny Jansen also went deep in the win for the Blue Jays, who received a solid seven innings of work from starter Jose Berrios. Berrios picked up his first win of the season, allowing just one run on five hits while racking up nine strikeouts.

Texas made things interesting in the bottom of the ninth inning, getting to Toronto reliever Ross Stripling for four runs. Marcus Semien led the short offensive outburst for the Rangers with a two-run homer, his first as a member of the Texas Rangers.

The Blue Jays look to complete the sweep on Sunday afternoon, sending southpaw Hyun-Jin Ryu to the mound.

Blue Jays Homer Their Way To Sweep Of Rangers

The Toronto Blue Jays slugged their way to a 11-2 win over the Texas Rangers on Sunday afternoon, completing a three game sweep over their rivals.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went deep twice in the win, while Hyun-Jin Ryu continued his excellent start to the season with 7 2/3 innings of work, allowing just two runs.

Toronto shortstop Bo Bichette drove in two runs with a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning, getting Toronto back on track after surrendering an early lead thanks to a Nate Lowe homer in the top half of the inning.

The Blue Jays hit the road for a four game stop in the Bronx as they take on the 7-3 New York Yankees. Yusei Kikuchi will get the ball against a tough Yankees lineup in the opener. The Blue Jays lineup will be faced with a tough matchup against the 2-0 Gerrit Cole.

Yankees Avoid Blue Jays Comeback With Walkoff Win

The New York Yankees nearly let a Toronto Blue Jays rally spoil the series opener of their four game set on Monday night, squeaking out a 6-5 walk-off after leading 5-2 heading into the ninth inning.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa played the role of hero for the Yankees with a two-out RBI single into the right-centre field gap off Toronto reliever Adam Cimber to score the winning run from third in the bottom of the 11th inning.

Toronto made things interesting after entering the top of the ninth inning trailing 5-2. George Springer lifted a clutch three-run homer into the left field seats off Yankees closer Josh Luetge, who had been 7-for-7 in save opportunities up until this point.

The Blue Jays look to rebound on Tuesday evening as they send their ace Kevin Gausman to the mound against Yankees righty Jameson Taillon.

Biggio Goes Deep Four Times As Blue Jays Blowout Yankees

Cavan Biggio put together a historic performance on Tuesday night as the Toronto Blue Jays blew out the New York Yankees 17-6 on the road. Biggio went 5-for-5 at the plate, including four home runs as the Blue Jays used a seven-run fifth inning to break a close ballgame.

In total, Biggio finished with 10 RBIs, with four of them coming on a grand slam in the fifth inning. The son of Hall of Famer Craig Biggio, Cavan took full advantage of the short porch in right field as he entered the game with no homers on the season.

Kevin Gausman laboured through six innings in his third start of the season, surrendering six runs on ten hits. New York did most of their damage in the 3rd and 4th inning, scoring five of the six runs.

Jameson Taillon struggled mightily for the Yankees, surrendering eight runs in just four innings of work.

In some unfortunate news, Toronto right fielder Teoscar Hernandez exited the game in the seventh inning after legging out an infield single. Hernandez was seen limping off the field and was not able to put weight on his right leg. The team is expected to provide an update on his status shortly.

The Blue Jays and Yankees are right back at it tomorrow evening, with Jose Berrios getting the ball against Luis Severino.

Blue Jays Place Hernandez on IL, Recall Lopez

The Toronto Blue Jays provided some unfortunate news on Wednesday morning, announcing that outfielder Teoscar Hernandez is expected to miss 1-2 months with a broken ankle. The team announced that Hernandez has been placed on the 10-day injured list, with infielder Otto Lopez being recalled from Triple-A Buffalo.

Hernandez's injury represents a huge blow to a Toronto offence that has been scorching hot to start the season. Hitting out of the cleanup spot in Charlie Montoyo's lineup, Hernandez has put together a .326 average to go along with three home runs and eight runs batted in.

It remains to be seen how the Blue Jays will shuffle their lineup to accommodate for Hernandez's absence. Outfielder Raimel Tapia is expected to receive the bulk of Hernandez's playing time, with Bradley Zimmer sliding into the fourth outfielder role.

The Hernandez-less Blue Jays look to take down Luis Severino and the Yankees in the Bronx tonight, first pitch at 7:10pm ET.

Blue Jays Slug Their Way Past Yankees

The Toronto Blue Jays smacked four home runs en-route to a 5-1 win over Luis Severino and the New York Yankees. Severino lasted 5 1/3 innings against a red-hot Toronto lineup, surrendering four runs on four hits.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Raimel Tapia, and Danny Jansen all went deep for the Blue Jays, who improved their record to 5-1. Former Blue Jay Josh Donaldson homered in the 7th inning for New York's lone run of the ballgame.

Blue Jays starter Alek Manoah tossed seven spectacular innings, surrendering just two hits and one run while striking out five. The Blue Jays look to keep the good times rolling tomorrow in the series finale against the Yankees. They'll send Jose Berrios to the mound against southpaw Jordan Montgomery.
