Haven't Played Madden since 2017 - Worth the purchase?

The title ways it all. What do you all think?

I'm older (56) and enjoy mainly sports video games, when I do play video games. Will Madden 24 just frustrate me or is it worth the purchase, realizing it has issues?

    Thank you in advance.

    Their slow laggy menus alone
    Makes Madden a aquire taste
Growing up on Madden I never thought I have to be in the mood to play madden until now

Im definitely getting college next year and skipping madden
Their heart and soul is not in it like the past[emoji1745]

If you haven't played since 17 then I would say it's worth a purchase. Franchise is much improved and gameplay is really good for Madden. There's several new mechanics that have been implemented that have made user control slightly more complicated. Pass rushing is done with the right stick. There's a new option for passing that allows for greater control. Gameplay is slower but in a good way and feels way more realistic than most of the ps4 generation.

Overall I think you'll like the newest Madden especially if you're a franchise player primarily.

Wow, you managed to avoid the entire move to frostbite until gameplay was actually really good!! Well done for missing the gameplay of 19, the bugs of 22 & 23 etc.

Yes, if 17 was your last edition (final year on ignite) then 24 is as good gameplay wise. The systems in franchise mode are as good if not better overall than the pre cfm era (08-12) and light years ahead of cfm era (13+).

Thank you everyone. I will by the game today then!

BTW, if I want to play a season of football, do I need to use the Franchise mode and get into all the daily details of whatever role I choose? Thanks again.

You can have the cpu automate nearly every aspect of franchise if that's what you want. Just go into the settings and customize it to you're liking.

Well hold on, are you jumping to Series X/PS5 gen with this purchase? There will be some changes from 17, but most of the talk around here is on the current gen, so you might see a different experience.
Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.

I'm still playing Madden 21 on the PS5. What I like about it is there is still a good amount of defense and variety of games. For example, my last game I just lost 10-6. I could not move the ball on offense.

I played Madden 24 during the free weekend. Not a huge sample, and while there was a lot I liked, it seemed like the few games I played were all offensive shootouts.

How is defense. Can you get games (12 min qtrs) where the scores are in the teens and 20's, or is every game a high scoring affair?

I just played two franchise games in 24. The first game I lost to the Saints as the Packers 24-13, and then my next game I won 22-20.

^^^ yeah I beat the Chiefs 27-21 in my season opener last night, 12-min Q. I think it’s pretty challenging to score 30+ unless you win the turnover & field position battles. I’m legit on defense though and it seems like a lot of people aren’t, so ymmv of course.
                          Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.
