Poll for devs attn: edit names or edit numbers

A lot of discussion on these forums today about the inability to edit numbers, even for generated recruits.

It seems nonsensical that this would be an NIL concern, given players can transfer. Why is changing the number of Arch Manning any less valid than changing his school? Nevertheless fake players.

The best reason I've seen posited is that they're allowing people to edit player's names, so there's concern that opening names + numbers would enable the creation of real people that didn't opt into the game.

While I still don't fully understand that logic (we've been able to do this in Madden and other sports games for years)... if we were truly left with a choice, what would you choose?

The ability to edit players numbers?

Or the ability to edit players names?

Ideally this can pick up some steam and be seen by the dev team. I'm anticipating the community will be convicted in changing numbers as the preferred option.. but could be wrong.

For me, numbers. Yeah the names can get a bit unique as you go forward, but I’d rather have the option of keeping special numbers special, unofficially retiring numbers or anything

Both. My thought is that we should be able to create a prospect, and we should be able to edit recruits the same way we can edit our RTG player.

There's no reason for QJB to be able to create #11 for LSU in RTG, but not anywhere else in the game. The legal ramifications seem like they should be the same in every game mode. It should probably be even more strict in RTG, considering I could name my player after a real person and give them a 1.5 GPA, plus have them create burner accounts and be a terrible teammate.

To be fair, we don't know what's in the cards, so we should be pushing for both. I still votes for numbers, but my post will say both because that's what makes the most sense.

We shouldn’t have to chose either or because it’s an auto generated recruit who has no likeness.

Even if we can change the name and the number, we still can’t change the race, face, and home town.

I don’t think I’ve heard one person say they’re upset that they can’t change any of the three listed player information as mentioned.

FWIW I would happily give up name editing for rating editing. It feels like that would solve a lot of the NIL issues.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the developers. This has everything to do with EA lawyers telling the development team that they can not risk more lawsuits by allowing the editing of numbers. I'm OK with not having the ability to edit numbers if that ensures we will continue to get this game in the future.

I think all of us have to put in prospective what we desire from this game and what could be at risk if we get what we want.

You guys are aware that if you didn’t have name editing, you couldn’t put yourself or anyone that you know, I.e, friends or family in your dynasty, or name recruits that are In the 2025 class?

Yes and I’d definitely give that up for rating editing. It’s not even close. I want to be able to fix broken stuff down the line if needed.

Yup. It's an L either way.

The only W is edit names and numbers. Ratings would be cool too.
