The AI cheats in the 2nd Half

I’ve noticed how all of my turnovers seem to happen in the 3Q. You can call it halftime adjustments if you want but the AI on Heisman literally reads your play perfectly in the 2nd half of games. It will jump routes with guys that are in man with their backs turned. It’s seriously game breaking. I’m all for a challenge but don’t cheese me CPU or I’ll just resort to having to cheese play you back.

EA put effort into this game but unfortunately it’s a polished Madden at the moment.

The amount of hyperbole is really out of control here on OS.

I bought a different version of that game than you I guess. Haven't seen a single instance yet since release where I thought the AI was cheating.

It certainly does if you start simming the second half! A couple early season game I’ll jump out to 31- 10ish leads and sim and I’ll have to jump in late 4th qtr to try and hang to the fcs’s of the world

At least for me I haven’t noticed any obvious catch up logic, but I dont play on Heisman and fully play out my games, not sim. Since just finished about half my season games, I have been winning at half time in most of them, with decent margins, where the cpu hasn’t come close to catching me, nor do I feel things happened artificially. With that said, progressively through the game the cpu does adapt and if I continue to use the same plays over and over, the cpu does a better job defending them later in the game. So if I dominated running in the first half, I do have to better mix in pass in the second half if the cpu catches on, which I think is pretty realistic.

In modern sports - gaming something like a "enhanced AI" doesen't really exist. Old School-Scripts YES, but learning AI? No from my standpoint....Maybe with the "next gen consoles" we get realistic gameplay in NFL, NHL, NBA or MLB...but for this they must change the engine...

Must not be any Falcons fans on this bandwagon cause if there were....... we would tell you no lead is safe.

              28-3 never forget.

This was always in the game, but I agree it is much worse in this release. I had a play where I had a DIG under a GO route in the slot. It was man coverage and I knew the DIG would come open soon after his cut, based on the defensive alignment. But the slot man had his man beat by 5 -- 7 yards. My QB did not have a big arm, so I wanted to hit the DIG underneath since I didn't expect my QB to his the go. I threw the DIG and the CB covering the slot stops, turns on a dime, and picks the ball off. No way that happens in real life because the CB is trying to catch up to the man who beat him.

I don't have much confidence we'll get a viable game this year. There is too much wrong with the game. I am not planning to buy next year's game at this point unless I see some major improvements this season. I think they have about a year and a half worth of bug fixes and enhancements.

Yeah the AI cheats. This is why we go to war with Skynet and the Matrix and Will Smith was correct to be untrusting in I, Robot.

Re: The AI cheats in the 2nd Half

Weird. I get a variety of outcomes in the 2nd half. Look no further than my last 2 games I played. As Duke, I was up 27-3 going into halftime against SMU. They came all the way back and made it 27-24 and had a chance to win the game on the final drive and I made a user INT to win it. Didn't stop them a single drive in the 2nd half before that. Next week, was up 17-3 at halftime vs University of Miami. Shut them down all 2nd half and won 31-17 (one of their scores was a pick 6).

There hasn't been any logic that fully dictates what happens. In Madden a turnover almost always resulted in a TD for the CPU unless you made a play as a user. I get stops all the time after turnovers in CFB. Same with the last 2 minutes. In Madden, it's almost impossible to keep a team from driving in the last 2 minutes barring a user play. In CFB, I make stops on 2 minute drives all the time.

The CPU will learn tendencies, it's built into the game so if you run the same 4 concepts the entire game (and also don't rotate d-lineman because they run out of pass rush points), then you are going to get beat up in the 2nd half.

No, the AI adjust to your playstyle. Switch it up, make pre play adjustments. Also, zone coverage is pretty busted right now so take it for what it is until patched

I've not seen that. I do know I can't run the same 3 plays all game. At the half the AI makes adjustments. I usually allow myself to call my own plays on the first drive at the beginning of the game and coming out of the half. Everything else is Coach suggest from the first 3.

I will say I've had similar thoughts, but I'm not sure if it's fair to blame it on the AI cheating.

If I'm being honest with myself a lot of my late game collapses might be due to complacency. I've been calling the same plays both on offense and defense the whole game and the CPU has adjusted by the end. Or honest human error from me getting nervous and choking it away.

Though the one thing that is pretty frustrating is the route jumping you mentioned. I've had a few screens that I thought were safe. D looks like it's in a relaxed zone, I throw a quick screen, then as soon as I hit the button the CB flies to cover 10 yards and get in front of my WR for a pick 6.

I'm suddenly inspired to make a custom playbook and name it, JohnConnor. I'm also suddenly again wondering why none of the T-models ever just replicated the look of John Connor. AI so stupid.

The same blocker memory system which is in Madden is also in CFB25, which means if you leave your same four pass rushers at the default positions all game, your pass rush effectiveness is going to decrease significantly the longer the game goes on. The worse your pass rush, the more effective the CPU quarterback is going to be.

To reduce the accumulation of blocker memory, you can: mix up the defensive fronts you call to get rushers in different spots; use package substitutions to get different rushers in different spots; and call different plays (especially fire zones) to get rushers attacking at different angles so that different offensive linemen pick them up at different angles (each blocker accumulates resistance to losing to their inside and outside shoulder independently).
