Wear and Tear: What has your experience been?

    See topic question.

Of particular note: what clock settings are you using and how many plays do you typically average per game?

I ask because so far in my experience the effect seems... pretty understated when I am playing games to be honest. Other teams regularly get more banged up in simulated games than mine does actually playing games. I'm currently using 10 minute quarters with accelerated clock runoff to 18 seconds. My offensive tempo is slower, though, I rarely get 60 plays in a game, I'm normally in the high 40s / low 50s in play count.

EDIT: I should add that so far I have not touched Injury or Fatigue sliders.

12 mins with 15sec left on the play clock. Would have to check total play count, think I just ran 74 in my game against OSU. I’ve noticed a lot more wear and tear with fatigue on 90 and injuries at 55. Actually have an RB dealing with a nagging ankle injury right now which is cool.

Side note I wish there was an easier way to see wear and tear on your players within dynasty.

I’m having the same experience as you. It seems like it has impact but I have yet to see my qb get anything even though he’s taken multiple bad shots. I use 11 minute quarters and get usually between 60-70 plays. That maybe why. I did notice after a hard fought game with South Carolina my hb and a couple dlineman were hurting so i rested them the next week and they were fine after that. So i do think the competition may have something to do with it

10 minute quarters with acc clock set to 19 seconds. I saw it mostly for RB. I’m no good at read option so I rarely run it in game, just practicing right now. So QB is a non issue.

did a decent amount of formation subs throughout the season to give my top back relief because I didn’t want it to be a factor when I needed him.

I really saw it more down the stretch of the season. Ashton Jeanty would need to come out for more breathers and for a bit longer. This was on a 1700 rushing yard season for him.

By the CFP Championship he would miss roughly half the drive to take breaks.

Lower rated players wear down faster. I was blowing a team out and put in my #3 back to take the heat off the workhorses (I think my second string Dubar had about 600-700 yards on the year). After two games of this in a row of #3 playing the full second half, he was banged up and at “severe” risk of injury to one leg and one shoulder.

Overall it’s fairly muted I’d think. It was not over the top at all, but barely a factor.

8 minutes on Heisman. Through 2 seasons seen very little impact, had to limit carries to someone and sub out a pass rusher maybe one time each to limit effects. 3rd season upped the injury slider to 50 (default 25) and have seen a little more impact. I have no idea if injury slider even affects wear and tear or it’s just a coincidence, I was mainly after more injuries because I’m not having anybody miss games. Fatigue is set at 55.

12min/20sec accel with fatigue at 72 and injury at 30. I definitely notice it more in dynasty than play now, in dynasty if I give the ball to my back a few plays in a row the little graphic will pop up in the corner of the play select screen showing his wear and he'll usually be out for 2 to 4 plays.

Around halftime is where I'll see guys start sitting out longer, especially if they've taken a beating.

It's a fantastic concept of a feature. One that I hope gets refined year after year in CFB and Madden. Both games so that they can collaborate and build upon. Commentary, in game updates (Pre game, during game and halftime) , Menus (HUB and in game) all could have used more quality of life improvements.

I think it would be a huge quality of life to allow us to have a Wear and Tear menu similar to injury report and let us chose to bench a player for a certain amount of time to recover and replace with someone else.

My biggest gripe is I'm not certain my impact against CPU matters. I've hit stick QBs and RB alot during a game only to go and see there's no wear and tear. Meanwhile, I find d linemen with it.

11 and 15. About 60-65 per team per game. Varsity. Fatigue 85. Injuries 60. Works well, but you have to sub guys out. I think the levels are

                Low
                Increased
                High
                Severe

Sometimes it impacts their ratings sometimes it just says they are at a high risk of injury sometimes both.

If a guy is at low or increased if you rest him a quarter it clears up. The CPU is dumb as ****. They leave guys in no matter what and then you get a constant stream of guys getting injured and then coming back in. What I've noticed is if a guy gets some level of wear and tear or it increases the game does the injury animation and the guy comes out for at least 1 play. It constantly stops the clock so you end up getting longer games.

Great idea, awful execution. Rating downgrades are way way too much, and the CPU doesn’t rotate players much, so if you rough up their starting tailback they’ll just have him in with -15s all around. Also inexcusable to not give us formation subs that carry over week to week.

Currently playing 9 minute quarter with 20 sec accel. Used to play 12 min with 20 sec accel before seeing the simmed game snap totals.

In both settings I didn't feel wear and tear was strong enough in general. I'd like to have the ability to increase it's impact on the game if possible. When players are getting beaten up, I do think there needs to be more systems in place for the user and CPU teams to better rotate them in multiple ways that are tied to the coach's profile so that each team handles the wear and tear differently but consistently to their own styles.

I also would like to see a standalone menu/screen to display wear and tear so I don’t have to dig through my depth chart which can be tedious. The pre snap highlight with the R stick doesn’t exactly tell you enough, there’s gotta be a better way to streamline this.

Re: Wear and Tear: What has your experience been?

I use 10m/20s quarters/runoff and general get around 110-120 plays between offense and defense. I really like wear and tear except for 1 possibly related issue.

I run a run-heavy no huddle spread option attack on offense and I doubt I’ve had a single game in my 3 seasons where my HB1 wasn’t banged up during the game. I liberally use my 3DHB and HB sub package to rotate backs, but they still get dinged. No if I keep them in there once they get orange or especially red, they’re likely getting knocked out of the game.

My QB takes a helluva beating and is often at least yellow. There were multiple times last season, including down the stretch as we were fighting to make the conference championship game, where I had to pull my starting QB and play his sub for about a quarter or more while he rested up.

I often lose OL guys due to injury and on defense I have my guys get banged up pretty good too. So, all in all, I really like the effect it has on my games and season (I’ve had people’s wear n tear carry over game to game and start yellow).

The 1 thing I don’t like (and I REALLY don’t like it) is that no one ever gets injured more than maybe a quarter in game and no injuries carry over. I don’t know if this is caused by the wear and tear system or not, but seems like it must. As someone who in the past couple of years has seen Blake Corum blow out his knee and have to miss the Ohio game and the rest of the season. And Zac Zinter break his leg against Ohio and miss the rest of the season, and Rod Moore blow out his knee and will likely miss this entire season, etc, etc having no lasting injuries really blows.

12 minutes, 15 second runoff. Getting around 130 total plays in the game (across both teams). I don't remember where I have fatigue set at exactly as it has been several days since I played, but I jacked both of them way up.

I love the idea of Wear and Tear. I hate how it is implemented. I have encountered very little impact that was noticeable aside from seeing certain players sit out for a few extra plays in a game, and that may even just be related to my high fatigue setting. Injuries are almost non existent. And some of the few areas that I actually do notice a discernable effect don't make sense. Like a QB scrambles 2 or 3 runs in the first half, each for just 10-15 yards and either slides or goes out of bounds each time never taking a hit, but he ends up with a negative on his speed rating for the rest of the game because you used the turbo button for just a few seconds.

I guess it's good that it is so easy to ignore it since the game lacks tools to sub guys out and protect them, but the current implementation also makes it hard to even consider as a back of the box feature.

One of my biggest annoyances has been with the re-injury rate.

I've had guys get injured, then reenter the game and almost immediately get reinjured, and then the cycle repeats (this is even when I select the option to substitute). Happens to the AI too, I've seen the same name show up on the injury timeout banner 4 times in one game.

Is there anyone who is playing Dynasty without accelerated clock? If so, what is your experience with Wear and Tear?
