How do you maintain honor among members in an online dynasty?

I'm in an online dynasty with people I know, but there's a lot of fishy stuff I think holding it back. Video games turn people into behaving like children.

The number of "internet outages" mid-game would make you think we're playing with 90's dial up. When I check the stats people are doing things like running 50+ times a game with their HB or completing 49/50 passes with more RAC than passing yards, making me think they're just spamming jet sweeps.

I kinda just let it slide because I don't wanna be the guy taking things too seriously, but I feel like this league will be lucky to last a full season at the rate it's going.

We're playing on Heisman with "realistic" sliders from here but it doesn't seem to make much difference. It's a video game and people are going to break it.

The first thing you might do is ask people to stream their games.

There are dynasty settings that put plays on cooldowns and limit how often you can call plays. That's a good start.

You can also put the auto-sub settings really high to force backup players in more often, perhaps reducing cheese for a highly rated starter.

In our online dynasty we have the "cool down" so that plays like "jet touch pass" can only be called a max of 5 times per game.

Not much you can do about it other than try to find a "sim" league.

But I'll tell you in my experience even "sim" leagues turn into a complain fest if you do one tiny little thing that people don't deem to be realistic.

I remember one time I was in a 2k basketball sim league and at the end of the half of one of my games I executed a "two for one" which caused my opponent to cry to the commissioner because I took a shot too early in the shot clock and didn't run a play so the commissioner sends me a message and I explained the situation to him and he was understanding about it but by that time I had made up my mind that I'm not longer interested in playing with a bunch of cry babies who will nitpick everything to death and I left the league *♂️

Does this affect the defense too? I feel like defense would be hurt more by not being able to call the same plays too much

lol I had a similar experience with sim leagues in 2k back in the day. 2k13 or so my league put a limit on number of 3’s you could take, % of points that could come in the paint, etc. which was hilarious because within just a few years real life NBA was breaking the “sim” league 2k rules.

Haha exactly!!! I was like you guys do know that NBA teams run up and down the floor and take quick shots, and don't even run set plays on a lot of possessions right? They wanted us to play like it was 1960s or something.

Unfortunately yes, which is why it's not a reasonable solution. I'm in an online dynasty with one close friend and we were going to use the play cool down option to keep ourselves honest, but it was impossible to call plays on defense with an 5-8 play cool down. I'm running Cover 3 as my base and I'm in Sky most of the time, I'll mix other things in but I don't want to be forced to blitz or call Tampa 2 arbitrarily. Fortunately we're pretty good about not spamming cheese plays and we both stream any championship games.

As far as what to do, I'd guess the people cheesing the system are going to drop off pretty quickly, try and keep around a couple guys who want to take it as seriously as you. Sometimes less is more.
