MLBtS ‘25 Franchise Team Thread

Baseball is almost back and that means it’s nearing a time to choose a baseball team to take over and make your own in MLBtS ‘25.

Deep franchise dives with evolving storylines are always (to me) what makes this game so great & so I’m excited to hear about yours.

What team are you choosing? What is your plan for that team? Are you rebuilding or taking a ready made team and trying to get them that elusive World Series?

Perhaps you’re struggling to choose a team and have a few options, if so post in here and open it up for discussion. Let’s take the dive!

Well I always roll with the Mets, How far into the season I make it is always yet to be seen.

I’ve been a Mets fan all my life and it’s almost impossible for me to be them (or any of my favorite sports teams) for dynasty/ franchise modes.

If we dont have Alonso in 25, my plan is to transition Soto to first base ASAP. Might still see what I can find in free agency pitching wise.

Just read today that the Mets have approached Vladdy/ Blue Jays on a potential trade. Crazy times.

Cubs as always. Decent roster and a new superstar in Kyle Tucker to play with. All 5 of our top 5 prospects ETA is this season. Plus our #6 prospect Alcantara will likely be up at some point.

Still on the fence about whether I will buy 25’ or not. I’m enjoying 24’ recently started a new franchise with Miami using opening day rosters.

If I do end up buying 25’ I don’t have a clue what team I want to run with. Possibly Cleveland.

My CLEVELAND GUARDIANS. Gotta be the guy that brings them their first world series WIN since 1948. It's a great story line.

I’ll probably change my mind 6 times between now and release and another 6 times after release, but I think I want to do a Cardinals franchise and play one game a week year one, one game a series year two, and then all 162 year 3. I’ve never made it past the first year on The Show and I hope that plan can get me there.

You're a Blue Jays fan, they have a great story. You can be the guy that saves the franchise from a total rebuild.

I've been playing video game baseball since the late 70's and without fail, every single year I would pick the Red Sox as my franchise team. Even before we could save our progress, I would keep score of individual games in a notebook or scorebook.

That all stopped a few years ago, when, for whatever reason, I decided to begin a Cubs franchise. Something in me just got bored with using the Sox every single year and playing every pitch of every inning in Fenway. I wanted to branch out and see other parks and play other teams, and man, did that ever invigorate my love of the game even more. the next season I chose the Padres, and then the Reds.

Don't get me wrong, in real life I still cherish my beloved Bean-towners. I still watch or listen to almost every inning of their games. It just feels awesome to step into the shoes of my fictional franchise and live a different reality for a bit.

As an aside, I found that after playing as a different team for a couple of seasons, the joy I get when I do return to Fenway to play an exhibition game is wonderful. Playing as the other teams makes me appreciate Boston all the more.

For MLB 25, I am seriously considering the A's, if they are playing in Sacramento. If they can't get the A's into their temporary home of Sacramento, I'll be choosing the White Sox. Something about building a champion out of a dumpster fire really intrigues me.

This was me for the past few years. I needed a break from always choosing my home town Indians/Guardians so since 21 I've been using different teams. 25 it's back to Cleveland.
