What Are You Working On? (MLB The Show 25 Edition)

Hope this thread is more active this year. I got the pre-order but won't play until about noon on Friday..

I'll of course open my preorder packs first to see what I'm working with.

I'll prob check out the new diamond quest and just navigate thru the game to start. Really no idea how to attack team affinity.

I'm excited for ambush hitting because I like to sit on inside fastballs anyway, excited for the 800 world series level instead of 900....unsure of the events/br not really having any rewards?

Super stoked for shield woods and the other garbage field getting the elevation nuked.

I'm hopeful for the game, got a bunch of energy drinks in the fridge and ready to grind out most of Friday, Saturday and Sunday... Hopefully xp cap doesn't ruin my fun

I took tomorrow off and am going to stay up a long as I can playing tonight. After the stream today, I’m almost overwhelmed by how much there is to do at launch. My first priorities will be obtaining the TA Edmonds and Miller, and then will probably complete the Spring breakout program. I’m hoping I get some good pack luck, because I really want that NL Central collection Simmons.

I've been getting the summaries from ance and gomes youtube channels. I too am not super familiar with the structure or the cards available on launch because I haven't watched the SDS videos.

After last year I didn't expect to be back, at least to pre-order. But definitely seems like they've listened to feedback, and I've liked most of what I've seen this year and excited to get started.

Seems like so much to do this year to start I'm not even sure what to do first, and feel pretty rusty as well. So maybe just doing some poking around, checking things out, and coming up with plan of attack for tomorrow. I'm too old to stay up much past midnight.

I’m incredibly excited, more than I have been in a while, but for the first time in years, I preordered the base edition instead of a deluxe one. I’m going to be fighting myself not to upgrade over the weekend! But part of my rationale was that I wanted to take it easier and enjoy earning the early rewards. The extra preorder diamonds and backs sometimes render those obsolete quickly.

Almost done with breakout and pipeline program, working on that first conquest map

I guess I'll go for roki first... Idk

The collections seem daunting, all I've pulled is freeman and I forgot every year whether I sell everything or keep it

I did play one quest or whatever the new thing is and got chase burns but Idk how time efficient that is this early on

I am extremely back in (at least early on), so I'll be contributing more than last year at least for now.

Update: I am, in fact, so weak. So incredibly weak.

Re: What Are You Working On? (MLB The Show 25 Edition)

I have to admit not having a program for each Ranked, Events, BR etc is a bit weird.

The gameplay is very solid and can't wait to dive into Franchise at some point.

I feel no urgency this year to do anything but back again with my usual Mets Theme Team. I have 38/40 Live Series, need Soto and Lindo. I'm around 120k into the Mets TA. I would have Soto/Lindor but I didn't put in my usual $150 in stubs on opening night because there is legit no need or advantage to doing so anymore. I'll snag them soon.

Conquest Maps, Batter ups all done, and 1 game left on the West Map. Very sad they broke up the US Map, was one one of my favorite things to do at launch. It's now dumbed down and easier to do but whatever.

I've done all 3 Diamond Quest Boards, still need a few cards from them. It was alright at first, but it ended up being meh for me.

Started a Mini Season, just 1 game into it.

Clearly put some time into the game a bit yesterday but when I loaded up PGA 2K25 to shoot our society rounds it was a breathe of fresh air.

Hope everyone has some fun with MLB 25 DD this year! Despite its whatever this game is bar far one of the best polished sports games we can play.

Re: What Are You Working On? (MLB The Show 25 Edition)

I've been really enjoying the game so far - and it's so nice to see the power creep back. I think that combined with getting rid of so many secondaries it feels like you have to put together a team. I've got guys in the bullpen who have no business being in the bullpen, so feels different so far.

I didn't really have a plan going into yesterday, other than selling most cards worth selling. At some point yesterday it looked feasible to get the Yankees live series collection done, so was going to target that over the next week, but right before bed got lucky and pulled Harper, which gave me enough stubs to get Judge and finish up the Yankees. I'm in no rush on live series beyond that, so will see what happens.

I think the plan for today is play around with Yankees theme team, make some progress on team affinity and programs.

I ended up playing a lot of Diamond Quest yesterday - I'm enjoying that a lot so far, so maybe target the rewards to keep this time.

I earned Jim Edmonds in the Cardinals team affinity last night.

Basically I want to get all the Cardinal Cards available at launch which means completing the Central Conquest for Quinn Mathews and the Spring Breakout program for JJ Weatherholt.

The card I really want is that Ted Simmons division collection but Paul Skenes, Elly De La Cruz and Kyle Tucker are going to cost me. But I have been suggesting Simmons ever since he was inducted to the hall of fame, and especially when the Cards lost Molina as a catching option.

Overall, it looks like it is definitely going to be more of a grind this year which is not thrilling for me so I really need to narrow my focus to keep me from burning out.

I also feel rejuvenated after a light couple of years so I should be contributing more as well.

Working on upgrading the Ubaldo card.

I’ve done 3 runs of the new single player mode and I’m enjoying that a lot. The mix up of events, mini showdowns and then a 3 inning game is a lot of fun and keeps it from feeling as monotonous as conquest. It’s also a way better grind. The third one over you can just go right for end games and you’re either getting ballin packs or one of the two players that right now uou can quick sell for 10k+

Also did a bunch of events in various programs.

Pack luck is predictably trash to start. 0-35 regular packs, 0-5 ballin packs.

No pack luck for me aside from freeman

Finished breakout and spring training whatever rookie programs

                          Finished two team affinity maps

Working on ubaldo, just put together a team of silver ta cards to work on 3rd conquest map. Already a bit burned out on conquest grind but it's fine

I plan to take a conquest break and finish all the moments in the game I think while catching up on TV

I need to do showdown 3.more times I think to get more pipeline cards towards sasaki? Looks like I'll still have to buy cards if.i want sasaki early

My team looks pretty decent, might do some online play on Monday.

Hoarding stubs and flipping a little on the app but margins dry up quickly... Hoping Tuesday the margins will hold a bit better. I think im going to save for either trout or ohtani and do collections that way. I'm tempted to just knock out the AL first because I like clemens and don't really know or care about hodges. Beltran is probably a good ways away anyway.

Max Clark doesn't have the best hitting stats but his defense is great while I wait for Beltran

I'm taking a scattershot approach to a lot of different things and not necessarily grinding specific programs. Mostly playing Conquest - I really like that they broke National of Baseball into smaller maps. As a fan of an east coast team it's nice to go get the reward for their stronghold earlier, rather than grinding across half the country to get there.

I did finish the Nationals' live collection and will probably start rolling a team based on their roster eventually.

Once I've gotten NOB East and every TA silver in the bag, I'll probably start working towards the Spring Breakout program. It's a little hard to decide what to do!
