We are monitoring and fixing issues in this thread.
Thanks for your patience.
The upgrade is complete, but you've probably noticed the forums are only showing posts up to about April 8. Posts made after that are still in the process of being moved over, and that should take another week or two. Feel free to start a new thread.
The site might feel a little slow while work continues. Engineers are staying on it through the night to get things moving faster again. Thanks for your patience.
Nice preview, thanks. I can't wait to see all the new "little things" that make this game so special. The new lighting effects and field wear sound amazing. I am also excited about the new way the catcher calls the game using signs, this sounds like it will add a lot of realism when pitching. I can't wait to read the interviews.
"there was an instance where a ball bounced hard off the wall and my outfielder gingerly ran up to the ball to pick it up. It was a moment where I felt the game should not have taken control out of my hands because I did not tell the fielder to slow up; he did it automatically. There is certainly a time when you want an action to be completed automatically, but I did not like that control was taken from me at that exact moment."
so, seems we will have dynamic weather(not talking about rain) too afterall...
quote: "Because of these new lighting effects, when it is overcast you can now really tell, and if it is just partly cloudy, you will also be able to notice a substantial difference. "
this is great!
cant wait
Yea, just to be clear, before the game you can select daytime -- and then partly cloudy, overcast, sunny.

Good preview.....Basiclly theres NO major changes to pitching and batting "which isn't a bad thing IMO" and theres loads of new little things that make it more "authentic"
I can't wait to learn the catcher signs and just watch his hands to see where he wants the pitch when using the T.V. camera views
I'm disappointed that it appears that there still is no true manual fielding.... so once again fielding will be CPU overridden on some plays
Oh well...still way more positives then negatives
Is there a camera view where you can get rid of all the on-screen displays? To me, it would definitely be worth trying to learn the pitches of your pitchers so you do not even need to see what pitches they throw.

Is it possible that you had defensive assist or something on that would allow the cpu to "take over" control of you outfielder? I know I'm reaching, especially since it was present last year, but am curious nonetheless.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I don't think so since I was pretty meticulous about going through and turning off some assists, boosting the level to All-Star, and changing the pitching camera before playing. I mean I wasn't playing the final build, so anything could still change. I still think fielding is the area that has to prove the most from a gameplay standpoint either way.

are there different start times for games? Like 1:00, 4:00, 6:00, etc...or just daytime or nighttime?
During the exhibition games, I was just picking daytime or nighttime and then the weather conditions.

I actually like the fact that the Show slowed down his outfielder as he went to the wall. I have no problem giving up control for realistic animations in certain situations and that scenario was fine for me. I wish there was true collision detection, including breaking up double plays, but I can live without it. Can't wait!

Like I said, I was reaching.
Thanks for responding Chase and again, great write up.

Bummer, so there was no option anywhere for you to select the time of the game - just daytime or nighttime? I wonder how they will incorporate this in Franchise when games start anywhere between 11 and 3 as well as 6 or 7 at night.
