The main reason for gameplay issues and how EA can fix it (should they choose to)

So, the clickbaity title isn't clickbaity. There is no pocket in the game and as such the rush is dead and QBs can roll out with impunity. The number 1 bit of feedback in gameplay from the beta was this. So of course it was roundly ignored.

Now I have seen the reason why this is the case and I'm going to lay it down for you.

The defensive pathfinding is off by about 7 yards. Let me explain.

Every single shed from the DL, be a pass rush move or blitz or run game block shed, it sheds inside.

I saw a corner blitz to stop an outside run and the corner ran from the nickel in the left tackle at an almost 90 degrees angle. this is what triggered the epiphany. They attack for directly behind the centre, instead of spot 7/8 yards behind the snap. all it would take to get the game serviceable, would be to amend the pathfinding of the D AI to be 7 yards deep in the backfield instead of where it is now.

    Let me know your thoughts!

Was the snap from under centre? And it's ball carrier tracking to that spot before the dropback?

I believe it was under centre for the corner blitz running 90 degrees into the tackle. But it's the incessant inside sheds that are driving me up the wall. I could salvage some of it if the rush went like two trailer park girls. but it's always AI

(round the outside and caught in the middle - for those that don't a very niche reference)

Try and see if it occurs on shotgun plays as the snap is already back?

Do the inside sheds still happen on DL pinch (trying to get the Dt over the A gap, do they shed into each other). What you say makes sense if field sense is picking path of least resistant direct to ball carrier after snap.

Ooo are there any wildcat snaps not directly backwards? That would be a good test if DL shed outside (might have to pinch).

The inside sheds occur in all snaps, shotgun or under centre. I'm convinced it's the pathfinding telling them they need to get to a certain spot. it's a nuisance. but the entire mut crowd been moaning about it so hopefully they will fix the pass rush and not nerf the QB mobility (again)

I personally often ask my DL to go outside and they again shed inside each time.

Years ago the roughing the passer slider was the one adjustment that when made would cause defensive ends to shoot down the field and form a pocket. Probably still the same lol.

Reckon boosting or reducing be the play. Read it's annoying again if you take it above 50. I certainly have the horror stories of 19 where if it went above 50, a qb could thro a deep pass, then run forwards into an engaged lineman and get a penalty

An issue I’ve found as far as pockets being made. Check your ends. Cam Jordan was the last guy to get off the snap often (I played as NO and had 7 sacks)

Jordan had 0, and often never even bent the corner it’s like super bad some plays.

You see here jones has the ball and Jordan is still in his stance

                      01/09/2023 Patch

Fixed an issue causing edge pass rushers to shed to the inside too frequently.

Thankfully they heard you! Hopefully it works and cuts down on QB's being able to roll out at will.

It certainly has helped curtail the scrambling, but it hasnt helped the game to the level one would have hoped. fingers crossed the true week 1 patch addresses it. I have taken to tweeting Clint and asking for him to have a look.

see if owt happens. but at least thats one issue addressed
