Better Call Saul

Since Better Call Saul is now a real thing and not just an idea or hopeful dream, it's time we get this thread rolling to discuss the show.

New info is leaking out.

First, this snippet from The Daily News:

Quote:
Executive producer Peter Gould says that the show will feature scenes that move back and forth over several decades, including the era where Walter White cooked and sold crystal meth.

“One of the great things about having a time line which is flexible is that perhaps some of it takes place before ‘Breaking Bad,’ during ‘Breaking Bad,’ and after ‘Breaking Bad'. That gives us the ability to bring back characters that were killed on ‘Breaking Bad,’ ” he says.

The series has also been pushed back to early 2015 thanks to, well, Gilligan...

Quote:
“I am slow as mud as a TV writer,” Gilligan said. “We had a pace on Breaking Bad thanks to AMC that was deliciously stately … we have a way of doing things that’s slower than most tv shows … because we want to think everything through and we think that pays dividends.”
...but filming has begun. We even have photos courtesy of EW http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/07/11/be...l-saul-photos/

Some info in that above link:

Quote:
The series regulars and their confirmed character names joining star Bob Odenkirk: Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad) as “fixer” Mike Erhmantraut, Michael McKean (This is Spinal Tap) as Chuck, Rhea Seehorn (Franklin & Bash) as Kim, Patrick Fabian (Grey’s Anatomy) as Hamlin and Michael Mando (Orphan Black) as Nacho.

The series takes place in 2002. In fact, that's six years (2008) before Breaking Bad. If that's news to you or confusing, it's because it should be.

Quote:
[Breaking Bad] never specified what year it took place. “I hesitate to say it, but it is indeed a period piece,” Gilligan said.
Michael McKean plays Saul's brother.

Quote:
Better Call Saul is set to premiere in early 2015. As previously announced, Gilligan directed the first episode of the first season, which will consist of 10 epiosdes. The second season will consist of 13 episodes.

Re: Better Call Saul

It would be amazing if this includes Saul's introduction to Mike and Gus.

Re: Better Call Saul

Good to see Mike on the show and definitely interested in post Walter White era. Just finished the series last week and going through withdrawal.

I thought this was strictly a prequel show. Regardless, could be good.

Side note: I bought a "Better Call Saul" tee-shirt last year off the $6 Shirts site. Not available there any longer.

Re: Better Call Saul

Looking forward to the post Walter episodes. Hopefully, they can get Jessie in some of those episodes.

Re: Better Call Saul

So we're going to see scenes with Saul after he isn't "Called Saul", possibly managing a Cinnabon in Omaha?

Probably. Seems that way.

I'm interested in how this matters. Like why would we jump through different time periods in an episode?

I'm guessing we will see how a shady deal from 1993 affected him in 2004.

Re: Better Call Saul

Pretty excited about this, I'm sure it'll tie up some loose ends nicely too.
