I'm always iffy on these gimmick matches though, feels like more often than not they disappoint.
If they let them get a little bloody, then this could be a great match. I think even bloodless that McIntyre and Punk have pretty good chemistry.

Does OVW really count if it was a developmental promotion at the time?

Maybe they revisit that relationship if they both are on Netflix next year? That's if the OVW reality TV show is renewed.

My ******* got a strap match mixed up with a dog collar match. [emoji2365]

I don't really like the rules of a strap match under WWE (can't recall if it's done the same elsewhere), either.

But can their chemistry override what is a stupid match concept?

True its not quite the same as if they referenced the same match type he won the AEW title in.

But yeah the rules are the same as the old WCW Vader Sting match. If I recall the strap match was something of Vader's specialty. I just can't get over my dislike of it though because either guy could have already won this match 5 times. They play it like "he doesn't care he just wants to beat up the other guy" but then in the second half of the match it will shift into both guys digging deep to touch them all. The change in motivations in the same match always is jarring to me

This match is a lot better than their previous one, IMO. And Punk's cardio is holding up unlike the last match where he clearly looked gassed. [emoji1474]

Nah call me a bitter old head but they really gonna disrespect Hart Austin WM13 with that sequence though

All in all that was an entertaining match even with being handicapped by the rules. Really didn't like the sharpshooter sequence, and Punk sneak touching the corners immediately after Drew was both great but also confusing as hell

Anyone else think this is a big match for Dom? He has epic heat as a heel but to go to the next level he needs to be presented as a legitimate in ring threat to Damion

Punk has to get in one Bret Hart reference into every match. It was probably a stipulation in his contract in both AEW and (now) WWE.

I love that WWE didn't change the presentation or entrance music of Rhea or Damien. They've both really found themselves in this 'darker/Metal' personas so why mess with it?

Not sure how they'd justify it, but WWE should really think about bringing back the Mixed-Match Challenge, IMO.

Liv is killing it though with this character too. This should be a feud that elevates everyone (except for Dirty Dom probably lol)

Right, she's even throwing in new offense that we've never seen from her before. Good stuff even if the match was a cluster**** (to be expected).

I'd like to see Finn more involved from a match perspective. They have to do this clusterbooking because Dom isn't there yet as an in ring worker. Its a great program but Balor is being wasted on it imo.

I'd like to see it shift into more of two separate programs that are connected. Make it Damion vs Balor and running alongside that make it Rhea vs Dom/Liv.

This is the match I've been looking forward to the most. What I was hoping to see in the build up was Randy turn more to his Viper persona seeing as how he will be the de facto heel here

Gunther is great (in the ring), but he's mid as hell on the stick.

Is he gonna say everyone he goes against is 'trash' and a 'screw up?'
