A little over three years ago, at the urging of my wife, I took a chance and submitted my resume and writing samples for an open position here at Operation Sports. My passions in life have always been writing and sports gaming, so the opportunity was a dream come true. Upon leaving college to join corporate America, I was sure I would never again have the opportunity to explore my creative side. I will forever ... Read More

Taking a cue from my colleague Chris Sanner, I decided to make some 2010 industry predictions of my own last December. Not knowing any better, I wanted to make a splash with some huge predictions. 2009 was relatively stale in terms of sports gaming, so it was time for a change. So here we sit in December of 2010 -- did my predictions of the future come true, or should I throw my crystal ball away ... Read More

2009 was surprisingly enough a pretty good year for sports gamers. With Madden finally hitting it's next gen stride, FIFA 10 making soccer interesting even for the most jaded critic, MLB 09 The Show setting a new standard for the genre as a whole, and two rock solid basketball titles, there really was a lot to love about the end of the decade. With 2010 in full swing I decided it was time to look into my proverbial crystal ball of sports gaming and make some industry and game predictions for the ... Read More

Madden 10 is only a few short days away, and many who have played the final version of the game are already proclaiming this years offering as the series’ best. The majority of Madden fans, including myself, will have to wait until tomorrow to pass their final judgement, but this doesn’t have to stop us from taking a look at some of the greatest years of Madden. Here are my picks for the 5 best Madden games since the series inception in 1988.

5.) Madden 99 (Playstation 1)

I think it's pretty sad that Punch Out!! isn't getting more love in this weeks poll. It actually bothered me so much that I had to write this rant (sorry! )

I hate to say it, but I think we've reached a really terrible crossroad in sports gaming/gaming as a whole. Graphics and flash have now officially become more important to sports gamers than actual solid gameplay. I am sure FNR4 will be a solid game overall, so I do not fault people for being excited for it, but UFC? Seriously ... Read More

The NCAA Tournaments has finally come to an end, and so has the Offical OS Tournament Pick'em. As heartbroken as I am about my beloved Spartans losing to a great North Carolina squad, I am pleased to announce the winner of the Pick'em: MizzouRah Habes.

Mizzou was narrowly able to defeat yours truly and Xevious (McTown11), with the Final Four deciding the winner.

A big Congrats to MizzouRah, you will be contacted by OS for information on your super cool prize. Thanks ... Read More

With the holiday game release rush in full effect, I've been seeing my sports gaming playtime decrease in an exponential fashion (wow, I knew calculus terminology would come in handy one day!). It seems like every November the gaming lineup across all three systems gets stronger and stronger. 2009 has already been an exceptional year for sports gaming, and is turning out to be a ground-breaking year in terms of action games, shooters, and platformers.

Personally, you'll find me helplessly ... Read More

After spending several hours with the NCAA Basketball demo, I wanted to share my overall impressions of the game in anticipation of next week's release.

As a seasoned NBA Live 09 and College Hoops vet, I was pleasantly surprised by how the demo played. The March Madness series has been a complete disaster ever since the series jumped off the PS1, so my expectations were relatively low for this demo. Overall, I was left with a very positive impression of what NCAA Basketball 09 is ... Read More

As a long time member, and relatively new contributing writer, I just wanted to let everyone who made the new Arenas happen know how awesome this addition to OS truly is. It's an honor to be a member of the OS family, and to be able to grow with the site.

Great job guys, looking forward to even more innovations in the future- this is outstanding. You've once again figured out yet another way for me to get absolutely nothing done during my 8-5 job..haha.
