Yes, the defense is done similar to the run controls. This is a quote from the Backbreaker Info Thread. I actually got the info from an Ask a Dev thread on the BB forum:

Defense: Defensive players controls built with evasive and aggressive mode similar to ball carrier. Evasive mode gives defender maximum agility. Rt trigger enters aggresive mode. Aggressive mode on defense allows the player to take down the ball carrier via a number of tackle types that are triggered by gestures on the right analog stick. Not only can the type of tackle be chosen, but also whether the tackle should be aimed high, to the torso or low to the legs.

Love the ability to choose tackling high or low.

WOW, the advantage of a high tackle in aggressive mode is obvious (fumble or just a harder hitting tackle). I wonder what advantage a low tackle will yield? Will they have a strip available in aggressive mode? Obviously, in aggressive mode you'd be more prone to miss the ball carrier, particularly if he jukes.

That will be great. Now if you have a big RB coming at you, you better try and go low. If you try and go high, you will get shaken off. It will all be in the hands of the players.

right-wasn't thinking of that. Can't go hi or lo in evasive mode?

Re: Backbreaker Video: Running Game Tutorial

I noticed that the A button can be used for action as well. Do you think that if you don't use the right stick (at least on defense), you can press the A button to initiate an automated tackle type? Or is that to switch players?

as a ball carrier, A button is to switch the ball between your right and left hand.
