Re: Weston Road Flows - The Toronto Blue Jays

KIKUCHI, JAYS' DEFENSE, AND BICHETTE GOING YARD AS JAYS UP ON YANKEES
04/21/2023 || Yankee Stadium - New York, NY

In the Toronto Blue Jays first matchup of the season against divisional rival, New York Yankees, the expectation was one of the highest-scoring games of the early season. Fans were unfortunately met with a pitching duel between Yankees ace Gerrit Cole and Blue Jays' starter Yusei Kikuchi.

Kikuchi managed to pitch eight solid innings, dicing up the Yankees' lineup soundly to the tune of five strikeouts and only one run allowed - an Aaron Hicks double that got Jose Trevino home to bring the score within one. Blue Jays' closer Jordan Romano managed the save for the Jays and brought them into the win column.

Astros' superstar Jose Altuve did his best to keep the Astros in the game, breaking the game open in the bottom of the second with a home run and then coming back in the bottom of the eighth with a two-RBI single off of an error. Blue Jays' relief pitcher Erik Swanson managed to sit the Astros down in the bottom of the ninth to secure the victory.

Offensively, the Blue Jays struggled to get past Cole and his six strikeouts until Bo Bichette, with his red-hot start to the season, blasted home his fifth home run of the young season, bringing in Kevin Kiermaier and Daulton Varsho

JAYS' BULLPEN GETS CHASED, WHITE SOX DOMINATE IN COMEBACK
04/24/2023 || Rogers Centre - Toronto, ON

It looked like a typical match for the Toronto Blue Jays, off to one of their hotter starts to a season as they finally returned home to Canada to welcome the Chicago White Sox. Blue Jays' starter Chris Bassitt got into pitch count trouble early on and was pulled after a little over five innings, only allowing four hits and one earned run to Gavin Sheets managing to get Luis Robert Jr. to home.

The Blue Jays were holding onto a 2-1 lead when Robert Jr. scored and Bassitt was pulled thanks to a George Springer and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. both striking doubles to get two runs. All Hell broke loose shortly after thanks to an unfortunate four playing errors from the Jays' fielding efforts.

Eloy Jimenez led the White Sox efforts with 2 hits on five at-bats and managed to get 3 RBIs while the previously mentioned Robert Jr. went 3 for 5 on the night.

White Sox pitcher Lance Lynn managed to go most of the distance with eight strong innings in which he managed to settle in after a raucous start to the game, managing to only allow two runs and sit down three batters.

Re: Weston Road Flows - The Toronto Blue Jays

TORONTO SWINGS FOR THE FENCES IN COMEBACK VICTORY OVER MARINERS
04/28/2023 || Rogers Centre - Toronto, ON

It is almost poetic that one of the hottest batting teams in the MLB was led off with an absolute tank from one of its hottest batters, and that's exactly what happened when Bo Bichette slammed home his sixth home run of the season on his first at-bat in the bottom of the first to give the Toronto Blue Jays the early lead against the Seattle Mariners.

The Jays, led by ace pitcher Kevin Gausman would carry a solid 2-0 lead into the top of the seventh inning before the Mariners' bats came alive and chased him out of the game. Julio Rodriguez, Teoscar Hernandez, and A.J. Pollock would all make it home in consecutive at-bats to flip the lead to 3-2 in favor of Seattle.

George Springer would hit his patented "Springer Dinger" at the bottom of the inning to rip the lead back for Toronto, leading to raucous roars from Blue Jays faithful at the Rogers Centre.

In the next inning, the Blue Jays would add two more runs to add insult to injury and the lead would be secured into a victory for Toronto thanks to Matt Chapman and solid bullpen pitching from Adam Cimber and Jordan Romano

Stud of the Month - It feels almost too easy to point at the league-leading Cleveland Guardians at the SOTM. They have gotten excellent production from their bats in Jose Ramirez being among the league leaders in hits, slugging percentage, and home runs but don't forget about Josh Bell and his elite production as well. The Philadelphia Phillies are going to be our SOTM with their ability to not get in their own way. Bryce Harper is having an MVP-caliber start to his season and Kyle Schwarber truly isn't that far behind him.

Dud of the Month - Are the Miami Marlins faithful okay? For them to come into the season with a sense of transition going on, it was expected for them to not be the best, but it felt like they were at least destined to compete a little bit, catch a couple of teams coasting from the start. That certainly hasn't been the case.

Re: Weston Road Flows - The Toronto Blue Jays

JAYS TORTURE RED SOX WITH EYE-POPPING 24 HITS
05/01/2023 || Fenway Park - Boston, MA

It was just last season in July that the Toronto Blue Jays - interestingly enough, against the very same Boston Red Sox - that they managed to get an insane 29 hits in their 28-3 drubbing of their divisional rivals. Though they were only able to capitalize on 12 runs in this game, the Blue Jays still managed to get 24 hits in their 12-7 victory to open the month of May.

Matt Chapman would lead the way, pumping his first of two home runs in the second inning to take the lead after the Jays allowed Rafael Devers to hit a sacrifice fly that would get Rob Refsnyder home from third. The Jays would chase Boston's starting pitcher James Paxton and the rest of their bullpen all game. The Jays' starter, Jose Berrios, wouldn't find much better, allowing all of Boston's seven runs in the game, but did manage to sit down six batters.

Kevin Kiermaier would pick up his first home run of the short season while George Springer would pick up his seventh. Every Blue Jays batter would manage to get at least one hit while Santiago Espinal would manage an impressive 5 hits, going 5 for 6 with two runs.
