Yep, SAC to KC, with Portland moving to the Pacific Division and KC settling in the Northwest.

Maloofs Shun Anaheim, Move Kings to KC

In a stunning shift, the Maloof brothers have decided to move the Kings from Sacramento to Kansas City.

Kansas City served as the former home of the Kings decades ago, but in an area which follows college basketball with a unrivaled passion, the Maloofs decided it was time to return to the heartland.

"We feel very confident that Kansas City will be an excellent home for the Kings for many years to come," Gavin Maloof said. "We have a beautiful facility, a passionate fanbase and a young, talented team."

NBA Swaps Kings, Blazers to Accomodate Move to KC

NBA commissioner David Stern announced today that the Portland Trail Blazers will move to the Pacific Division and the Kansas City Kings will take their place in the Northwest Division.

"We believe this change will foster more geographic rivalries for both the Blazers and the Kings," Stern said.

KC Introduces Ryan Spencer as New Head Coach

Following Paul Westphal's decision to step down as Kings head coach so he could stay closer to his home in California, the Kings announced today that Ryan Spencer will take over as coach of KC's newest franchise.

"This is a dream come true for me," Spencer said. "It's an honor to be able to lead this team in our return to my hometown."

National basketball writers are questioning the hiring, citing Spencer's lack of pro basketball experience. Spencer was an assistant coach at the University of Missouri before accepting the position with the Kings.

"You don't have to have NBA experience to be able to understand how to build a solid basketball team," Spencer said. "Defense and execution are winning strategies on any level."

Sources close to Spencer say he will aim to instill a methodical, mistake-adverse mentality in his team. Quality big men are crucial to the success of his style, the sources say.
