Insane scoring seasons (thanks 2k!)

Posted 11-27-2011 at 02:16 PM by AdamBa17
Well, I've never averaged more than 30 pts a game for any player in any 2k game before, and I started buying 2k back in 2003 (had NBA live since 1997 or so).

Well, thanks to 2k implementing absolutely NO double teaming when you're hot (I'm not really thanking them, it's not very realistic what's going on) in my Lakers association I'm averaging almost 40 pts a game with Kobe this season...!

Just had a great game vs the Wizards, I'm calling it "The Shootout"

Kobe 55 pts 4 reb 3 assists, 20-37 shooting, 6-11 3pts, 9-10 ft
Nick Young 43 points 5 reb, 17-34, 7-14 3pts

These 2 were just matching threes back and forth in the third. Wizards never led the whole game but Young tried to shoot them back in it. I ended up winning 111-104.

Infact, John Wall went for 17 pts 11 reb and 13 assists in this game. His amazing triple double wasn't even the main show.

Kobe wasnt double teamed once the whole game (as usual) so I just fed the hot hand. Nothing wrong with that, they do it in the NBA. And if Kobe never drew a double team in real life, that 81 point game would have been about 130 pts.

The game before this, Kobe scored 57 against the Pistons in OT. 57 points, 7 assists, 5 3pts. 2 days before.

2k has to do something about this double teaming.

But until they do, Kobe is leading the league at 39.8 points a game over the first 9 games. 5 assists also.

Great post about why "sim" is misunderstood

Posted 11-28-2010 at 04:20 AM by AdamBa17
http://www.hoopsgaming.com/showthread.php?t=5314

There some very important points in here that ive tried to get across in the 2K forum, but havent articulated well, such as:

- How the NBA actually take what the defence gives them, rather than adhering to "rules" like most sim players.
- How it is the standard of DEFENSE that consitutes how the offense will play.
- How you should play the GAME in front of you, not the RULES in your head.

Check it out if you know about sim play, whichever side of the fence you are on.

Realism killing video games (article)

Posted 11-21-2010 at 09:01 AM by AdamBa17
Here's a great article I just read which discusses whether realism is killing video games or not:

http://pc.gamezone.com/editorials/item/zoned_in_is_excessive_realism_killing_gameplay/

To me this is a great article and a great point to make.

In my opinion realism is definitely killing peoples enjoyment of sports gaming. NBA 2K11 is one of the best sports games of all time, but all you get from people in the forums is complaining about this or that. People are missing how much amazing stuff is in the game because they are so focused on what ISNT realistic.

Expectations have been set way too high with games these days.

Personally I can only have fun playing the MJ My Player mode now, where I have no sliders set and MJ is playing on this years T-Wolves. Unrealistic? Yes. But that's what makes it fun!

Video games = ESCAPING reality.
