Hello, I don’t know why you are reading this but I made this almost a year ago when this game came out. I use to own a PSP but now I'm a 360 user so I cant remember much about this game. I hope you like this blog, its old in my eyes but whatever. This was also made for another website but I left and moved it here for you guys. I’m writing this blog for the benefit of PSP users everywhere, and sports fans, about a game called NCAA Football 2009.

Alright here’s how its going to go down, I am going to point out the good, and bad things about the game, and at the end I’m going to give scores to certain parts (ex. controls, game play). Pretty simple isn’t it. OK lets get started with the bad!

Bad: OK, there are 4 very minor bad things, so don’t take them to seriously.

-Better Crowd Look
I am going to be honest, the crowd looks like s**t. Now I know this is the PSP, but COME ON. Do they need to look so flat, they look 2 D, and redundant. At least Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 had 3 dimensional crowds.

-ESPN Magazine Covers
All they show is the helmet of the team who got the top story. How would you like it if in a game trailer they didn’t show game play footage they would just show the logo of the game? Not Important, but cant they at least try?

-No pre game prediction
All it does is show a crap camera angle of the field and you get to here the weather for the game, lazy Lee Corso. Although if they did add it, it would take up a lot of space, so I guess it would make some other things look crap.

- The Bench
Last time I checked, all the backups, and players would sit on the benches, and wait for their turn to play. Well not in this game, there’s absolutely nothing. Even the random standing mascot is gone!

OK now that were done with the small things, lets move to bigger problems.

-Better Play-by-Play
I know Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, and Brad Nessler are great, but they have absolutely no lines, there all the same from 08 on the other systems. If there going to have the same lines, then hire Barney, John Madden, and Lil Wayne, now you have great play by play. GET ON IT E.A…Stupid annoying Lee Corso.

-Pennants
Where are the pennants? I loved getting points, and then buying them. I want pennants so that my kicker can kick the 100-yard field goal to win the game 99 - 96. (There’s a pennant where your kicker can kick 100 yards)

-Stupid Additions
Freshman mode? If you’re a "first timer" at the game, and are too lazy to read the instruction book then this is for you! They could get rid of this and add more plays.

-MORE PLAYS!!!
I really find my self calling the same plays a lot. Not because I’m a cheeser or stupid, because there are scarcely any plays! Like seriously, that’s one of the most important aspects of the game of football, they should really add some playbooks.

-More Features
Going back to Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 on the PSP, that game had a lot of features, like create a wrestler, move-set, a title, stable, and entrance. What does NCAA Football have? Nothing, except for a customizable playbook, no not create a playbook!

-More Game Modes
What I mean by that is the practice and the drills. When I first started the game, I was not familiar with the game play, so I looked for the practice mode, and there’s nothing! I was also looking forward to enhance my skill with the drill mode, but once again nothing.

Well that’s all the bad stuff.

Note: Yes, I know Smackdown vs. Raw are 2 very different games, and that NCAA Football 2009 was much more difficult to create, but there’s no reason that they couldn't at least but a couple of those things in.

OK, now it’s time to end this review on a good note, so its time to point out the good things, and then give it its final score!

-Great Controls
When I first opened up the game, I was very unfamiliar with the controls, and thankfully the instruction book told me everything. Next thing I knew I saw my self shaking defenders, and going fly high into the end zone.

-Head to Head Multi player
Its pretty awesome to be able to kick your friends a**, and then brag about it on your profile. Well done E.A.

-Customizable Settings
Yeah, this pretty much has to be in every game, but in this game you will find your self using it a lot. This varies from changing penalty frequencies, to the audio.

-Home field Advantage Works
In college football, there’s a real fire between rivals, fans, and home field advantage. If you have a great fan base, and stadium, you have an advantage to screw with the other team, and assure that they cant audible or change the play. Fortunately, NCAA Football 2009 still keeps this, and it’s great.

-Customizable Playbooks
Basically all you can do is swap formations. No, you can’t create formations, or plays, but it’s better than nothing.

-Nice Player Models/Jersey’s
The player’s look pretty good for PSP, and their jerseys are accurate. Which is good.

-Decent Game play
Tackles look real, and so does everything else that the players do. Except for the Interception animation which usually misses...bad.

-Still Keeps Trophy’s
YAY! I love collecting rivalry trophies, and dynasty trophies in the past games, I am glad they kept that!

Game play-6.5 - Decent Animations, my only problem is that the ball would occasionally go right through a defenders arm instead of being knocked down or intercepted. More of the same.
Sound-7 – Play-by-play sucks, but music is great!
Controls-8 – Easy to learn, and remember, but the throwaway pass button is in the worst place.
Graphics-6 – Everything feels empty.
Lasting Appeal-8 – Dynasty mode is fun, and online head to head is great, best of all, trophies still exist YAY!
Total- 7.1 - Meh Score

-Closing Comments
It’s an O.K game, and I enjoy playing it a lot. There’s one thing I didn’t mention. The Turnover frequency is high on heisman level, so watch out. I would rather get Madden 2009, PSP owners.

Note: Yes I am fully aware that the PSP UMD can’t fit an amazing super awesome blow me away football games, but I do feel that E.A did not put enough effort into this game. That’s just my opinion so don’t go out flaming me about this review. Thanks for Reading this, comment, rate, and enjoy. See ya!
