Re: UConn Do It! (2013-Onwards)

UConn runs over Memphis,Record Setting Senior Day
--Des Connor--

UConn was able to defeat the Memphis Tigers 49-14 at Rentschler Field in East Hartford thanks to the running of Berlin,CT's own Max DeLorenzo who rushed for 200+ yards and 4 TDs,including a 87 yard NCAA Record TD Run, after starter Lyle McCombs went down with a broken collarbone early in the 1st quarter.

"It's tough losing your start running back in Lyle but Max came in and really ran over Memphis…Hopefully Lyle can get cleared to play by the bowl game but if not then Max will be our man alongside Martin." said Coach Gruden

That wasn't the only record to be made as big Jesse Joesph was able to get a sack and was able to tie the all time UConn sack record with Mark Michaels('85).

"Its an honor to be able to tie a school record and I hope I can potential break that record and get us another Bowl game victory" said Jesse Joesph.

''We're in a great position going undefeated in my first year coaching here is a great honor, we have a great young bunch of kids and we will continue to try to instill excellence into all our future recruits and the remainder of the players who are with us over my tenure here at UConn. Its great to allow these Seniors the opportunity to close out their collegiate careers with a chance at a bowl victory. " said Coach Jon Gruden.
