Week 11 Recap
By Tricia Green

(Simmed Game)

In Short: The Gators welcomed the Commodores to The Swamp and got a closer game than many were expecting from Vandy; despite Florida’s talent advantage, Vandy never went away and Florida’s offense wasn’t exactly making the Commodores’ defense sweat. If anything, the Gators looked like they were sleepwalking through the game. Florida’s offense struggled on 3rd down and the defense struggled to get off the field — the Gators should count themselves lucky they walked away with a win at all.

MVP: HB Pierce. The senior back rushed the ball well all day and gave the offense some semblance of a flow; he helped ice the game in the fourth quarter and, in general, was the steady performer any coaching staff would be glad to have.

LVP: Vandy QB Clark. Clark called a lot of audibles at the line, most to pass plays, and tried to catch the Gators defense sleeping — instead, all he did was mess up his own offense’s flow.

Final Stats:

Recruiting News

Florida snagged 3* recruit DT Mark Hale, who looks to be a developmental DT next season, a likely redshirt — still, his addition gives the Gators some depth that will be needed it as multiple seniors will be leaving the program.

The Top 25

Florida’s close win against Vandy didn’t exactly boost them in the polls, as they maintain their #5 ranking. LSU got stomped against Alabama, who now more than control’s their own destiny as they roll towards the SEC championship game.

Yeah, they really came in strong in the American conference (so much so I think I have to expand the conference next season to give them a proper title game). Florida is doing fine and dandy, very nicely in year 1 of Flyer's regime, but there's still a ways to go in the schedule.

The sim giveth and the sim taketh away.

Just caught to the last few weeks.

Have rebounded nicely in some conference games thus far after that unfortunate LSU mishap and that recruiting class is coming along too.

We are doing better than expected with our young QB -- still need to get through the rest of the conference schedule, then FSU, then the SEC title game. I seriously doubt we can win out, but if we finish with double-digit wins, I'll be happy.

Where's the championship being played this year? Could we see a Sugar Bowl rematch of Florida and Cincy?
