That works in a lot of situations. When the Mavs, however trade Dirk for several role players or when Kobe leaves the Lakers and signs a 1 year 2mil deal with the Jazz, that's a problem.

No I understand, but the CPU think about a number of different factors. It's not just overall rating, it's age, salary, positional depth, their needs, who's on the prospect big board, etc.

Like for one, I like JJ Reddick but in the game he's just not valuable because he's what 30 years old now? Teams want depth and young players.

Yea but again, the CPU doesn't look at Kobe and say "wow this guy won 5 NBA championships". They're saying "hmm this guy is 36 years old, is degressing, and his value is pretty shot...we'll take him but he's only getting a 1 year deal at low cost (2 mil) because he's about to retire and we are looking to spend our money on new young talent."

I know what you're saying because we know how good Kobe is, but that's not the way sports games work, it doesn't matter if it's NBA 2k, MLB The Show or even Madden. It's always been about young talent with lots of upside.

I hear what you saying. It really just comes down to how you want to play. That's a big reason I don't like a fantasy draft. Too much of an unrealistic scenario. There really will never be a 100% realistic franchise mode in any sports game without total control like you have in MyLEAGUE. The only reason you get all these goofy trades is because wether the CPU is the 1 seed or a top 3 lottery team is it plays to put together the best roster possible. No regards to age or emotional ties with a player.

Does anyone know if the upgrades you can unlock in MyGM are also unlocked by the CPU teams? Do they get the benefits of improved facilities like the HUM player does?

              MyLEAGUE guy here.

I don't care about a role playing mode or setting ticket prices.

The option to veto trades and force injuries is what I need!

This. Perfect. My favorite feature. The one thing I really hated we're seeing a ridiculous unrealistic trade. Would seem to immediately ruin the association for me.

So tell me. What kind of unrealistic trades have you seen in this year's game? Please keep in mind that if a team gives up a player that is 31+ years old (even a star) to obtain a few younger players then IMO it's justified.

                  It's about value.

Haven't gotten any this year as I'm only about 5 games in but I was referring to years past so I don't have any examples. I'm just excited to be able to put the kibosh on any deals I don't approve of.

I am rolling a MyGM but let me add that in MyLeague if you don't play 12 minute quarters your stats will still show that you did. However in MyGM I don't think that is the case.

                          I started a My GM

The GM asked me to get a high first round draft pick.

He then asked me to win a championship later in that very same conversation.

Thats when I started up a My League and never looked back.

Never seen someone so into a mode where they defend all its flaws like you. I mean have fun with it, who am I to judge but when you can build an all star team by the end of year one its absurd....I am going to start a MyGM right now and see how far I can push things trade wise and I'll post back. Not trying to be a know it all just curious to be quite honest because 2k may have fixed there trades. I doubt it because trade finder is awful, but maybe!

Edit: Went through trade finder for 5 minutes and it was definitely improved. However these 3 trades all make no sense.

                            Celtics(User): Pressey, Bass
                            Magic: Payton, Gordon

Magic wouldn't trade a lottery pick for that.

                            2nd deal

                            Celtics: Gerald wallace, 2nd rounder
                            Pacers: West

West is an expiring contract, and Wallace's contract is awful so they could get a much better offer but would never do this.

                            3rd deal

                            Celtics: Bradley, Young, 2nd rounder
                            Warriors: Thompson, Barnes

Warriors wouldn't move Thompson and Barnes for Love but they'd move them for 2 worse wings? Thats the one I really have an issue with and they happen far too often. You can make up a strange scenario I guess but Thompson and Barnes are both great off the court so that makes no sense, also their value is way higher then the trades the CPU ends up making.

The first two aren't awful in terms of talent for talent, but Payton is a potter pick rookie won't be moved for a 3rd string PG. And Wallace is untraceable but easy to get a very solid starting PF for him. These are the deals that irk us simheads and thats why Veto is crucial.

Also in mygm they always want a high draft pick, and want to contend at the same time. Not realistic because lottery picks are very hard to acquire in real life, and why do you need a lottery pick every year? No NBA team builds that way. I stand firm on MyLeague being the clear cut SIM OPTION. Now could MyGM be the more fun mode? Or more in depth? Sure not arguing that, but the more life-like? Not even close.

Cavs won the title season 1 and David Blatt was replaced with a generic coach in the off season.

76ers fired Brett Brown, Pistons fired Stan Van Gundy, and Wiz fired their coach. I think their should be some kind of expectation meter in the mode where a coach of a rebuilding franchise isn't expected to win therefor has a longer leash.
I started a myGM with the 76ers this weekend and the first goal from the owner was to contend THIS year. His second goal was to improve the roster to top 15 in the league this season too. Seriously, that is nothing like the 76ers plan for this season. Even if I don't keep Embiid and Saric out the whole season like they will be irl there's still little chance to reach those goals without completely going against the plan to develop their young players and get more talent through the draft. I played the first game and got crushed as they likely will irl too.
The goals not matching the real life 76ers roadmap kills myGM for me as I don't feel like going through a whole season only to get canned by the owner at the end because I didn't make the playoffs and trade away all my draft picks for aging stars. Its ashame because I was kinda looking forward to the RPG aspects.

One question though. Do you have control over staff (scouts, trainer, assistant coach etc) in MyLeague?

                                Yea this.

That is something NBA Live did really well a few years ago in their franchise mode. They had an option where each team before the season decided they were contendors, playoff, or rebuilding and they acted accordingly. That is the only thing missing from a logic standpoint in 2K's games.

However to defend MyGM a little the owner WILL adjust expectations mid season once he sees there's no chance of winning. For example telling you to get rid of Richardson or trade for another draft pick.

And to answer your question. Yes you have the same control over your staff in MyLeague as you do in MyGM
