I own a PS2 and an X-Box and have played ESPN 04 on both. the Xbox is by far the better choice. even further once I bough a vga adapter i was blown away by the graphics running in 480p. felt like i already had a next Gen console. the lighing is some stadiums makes the game look almost photo realistic at times. the level of player detail is amazing. with all the graphic power the Xbox has its funny that the PS2 handles wheather effects better, especialy rain. I dont go online with ESPN so i cant comment on that. but if you can afford it a vga adapter is WELL worth the purchase, you get 480p , 720p, & 1080i without having to buy a HDTV. looking at this game run at EB was nothing compared to the HD settings

I have to admit that NFL2K5 is the first title that has me planning to buy an XBOX!

            Two reasons for my decision:

            (1) NFL2K5 is being optimized (built?) for the XBOX. The VIP feature, the new player 'skeletons' (muscle movement, jerseys, etc) are a couple of the improvements that I believe PS2 players are being left out of.

            (2) No more countdown meters in the middle of a game or 'failed to locate servers' messages. You fellow-PS2ers know what I'm referring to. The black countdown screen that appears whenever the connections seems to be interrupted. This happens even when there are only a handful of people in the gaming rooms. I honestly don't recall reading about online issues on the XBOX side (nor was I really looking for them). But with all of the enhancements I've read about for NFL2K5 (especially with cut scenes, etc), I want the smoothest online experience possible.

PS - I'm trying to convice my buddies to take the plunge as well as they're the guys that I play against the most online.

Dude the only things you are getting short changed on is the graphics (which can't be helped) and the replays during Chris Berman's NFL Primetime show and thats if you don't purchase a hard drive. Other than that you should get evething else.

You usually get the black countdown screen because the person on the other side is disconnecting the game before they lose. Think about it it never happens while your losing a game.

Wow! I didn't mean for some of the negativity to take place. Although I should have known that is the case in many threads when comparing the consoles.

I'm not a graphics whore and would have been happy to own the same NFL2K4 game with some tweaking like AI Defensive pursuit (especially along the sidelines), the break tackles toned down, etc.

My main reason for making the switch is ONLINE gaming! Personally, I hate the fact that some games are exclusive to certain consoles only, but I understand the dollars and cents side of it.

Kanobi, thanks for posting your thoughts. I know that you play your game exclusively offline and yet you're making the XBOX switch as well. I intend to keep my PS2 since I can't imagine recouping the $ that I already invested in it. But I certainly am looking forward to ONLINE GAMING peace of mind (instability issues, lag, etc).

I also hope to play guys like LBRulz and Kanobi online in a league as I know just by their passion for this game that they play the game the way it is meant to be played!

                  Just my $.02!

Eh I made the choice to buy a PS2 long ago I might as well stick with it. I've never changed consoles in mid-stream and I don't want to own two consoles at one time.

I'll just wait for the next-gen. I mean it's only a couple yrs from now anyways.

Anyway, I still have to respond to this post. You make threads and posts every day about how people should stick it to EA and not buy Madden, not buy 2 games even if they like both, etc. It's pretty hypocritical to then turn around and say people must be getting paid by MS if they want to switch to xbox. Why shouldn't people say the same to you for trying to get people to not buy Madden? You aren't even addressing the main reason this thread was made, just expressing your displeasure with decisions to switch from PS2 to xbox.
