Unless we do case studies, it would be impossible to pinpoint what you're asking.

And I've never heard of one person complain about overhyping of Madden around the release of Madden.

At this point (August 1st) maybe we should have it both ways. *sigh

I think we are going to see videos with the start of preseason football. The NFL is the best marketing tool they have. EA pays a pretty penny so no one else has that marketing tool so for them to use the hype of the NFL season as the driving force of their marketing camaign makes some sense. I know I buy madden because of my love for the NFL and football in general not because they make a game of the year contender each year.
