34 vs 43 Base D in Sim

I’m still playing madden 20, but they haven’t changed the formula for years and I doubt they’ve started now

Yes, certain playbooks sim better/provide better offense than others when simming.
Bears (with a mobile qb)
Bills (for passing yards)
Atlanta
Packers
Patriots
Saints
Titans (for passing yards)
Tampa bay

The key to get top performance out of your qbs when simming is to make sure their traits are
Sense of pressure-ideal
Force passes can be any, but ideal is best
Tight spiral
If simming, your qbs overall doesn’t really matter (really!) as long as they have those traits

Make sure your LT and RT are great at pass blocking and awareness. They’re really the only linemen that matter in sim
Wr overall reall doesn’t matter either (IF SIMMING)
As far as rbs, look for awareness, ball carrier vision, break tackle, and carrying

On defense (if you’re running 3-4) block shed, awareness, and power moves are big.
All of your defense should have the high motor trait. Your 3 down linemen and outside linebackers should also have the bull rush trait as well. Your Mlbs should have decent awareness, block shed (70+), and tackling.
I always want my dbs to have the aggressive play ball trait. For playbooks, try the bears, rams, patriots, ravens, and steelers playbooks.

Another key aspect- make sure (outside of qb and oline) that all of your players are 30 or younger for peak performance.

Again, this is if you are SIMMING all or most of your games. Of course you’d want better rated players if you’re actually playing. I hope this helps

In my previous years of madden I have noticed the 43 defense plays better, even though the 34 is my favorite.

Not always true.

In 20, I simmed and won 14 super bowls in 30 years using a 34 defense with the Vikings and was a top 10 defense in 18 of those 30 years. Most of the top 10 in defense was after the first 7 years of tear down and rebuild.

I have had equal success in both while simming.
