I scooped up a digital copy a couple of years back when it was $10 or so. Glad I did.

Re: Operation Sports MLB 2K13 Community Impressions Thread

Was able to get in a game this weekend with my Rockies franchise.
Beat Cubs 2-1 on two blasts from Carlos Gonzalez.
I should have had more runs, but frickin Baez made two incredible diving plays to rob Story twice. In both occasions, I had 2 outs and runners on 3rd.
Was 2-0 going into the 9th when my closer hung a slider over the plate and Rizzo absolutely destroyed it.

4 years old and 2K13 is still the best baseball game I've ever played.

Re: Operation Sports MLB 2K13 Community Impressions Thread

I love this game, enough so that I still have my Xbox 360 set up in the living room playing. I've been working to completely play an full season start to finish in franchise mode and am finally in the final week (after starting it when the game was new/released back in 2012/2013!!)

I've created modern day prospects and put them into the farm systems with a slightly accelerated time line to get them in the league next year, but man I keep hoping that one day I'll see that Xbox One converts the game to be backwards comparable so I can play it on my XB1.

The pitching mechanics are my favorite part of the game, even when you're out there DEALING you can screw up a curve or (my personal nemesis pitch) a Splitter and BOOM there goes your night. I love the way you have to mix your pitches and location or the CPU will make you pay, it was just a great mechanic all together.

Sometimes the cpu logic as managers is odd and seeing the Red Sox bench David Ortiz while he's batting .301 and mashing 30+ HRs was goofy, but that is why I have the game set up to where I control the entire league, I just let the CPU run the other teams unless I need to step in to correct a lineup or the rotation (seeing a 93 stamina pitcher with 13 wins and a 2.37 ERA moved to the set up roll so Yovanni Gallardo can earn his 15th loss of the season for the White Sox in the heart of a wild card race for them was maddening LOL, but man MLB2K13 is one of my favorite games, period. Flaws and all.

I miss playing the 2k series. I buy The show every year but it doesn't have the fun factor of each game that 2K had. Mostly the pitching was just fun. I need to find my copy and get my 360 back out.

what direction did this game go under when they split with KUSH?

honestly i only ever played mlb 2k7 on the og xbox and was more of a casual when it came to baseball games then.

was it still a sim game or more arcadeish? i see why the show took over the market..much better graphics and no frame rate issue. but at its core i felt like 2k7 was the better sim and realistic option.

I felt the game greatly improved when VC took over.
From 2K11 on, it played a great game of baseball with the right sliders.

You're right though, the graphics and fluidity didn't help its cause.
But I've always maintained that if 2K looked and moved as well as The Show, it's still alive today.
I owned a PS3 and I'd buy both games each year. But everytime I popped in TS, 5 minutes in, I'd be dying to play 2K.

It's such a shame 2K stopped producing it.

The fielding and baserunning never felt right to me in the 2K10-13 games. Loved, loved, loved the analog pitching controls. The batting mechanic was pretty good, too.

Agreed!
Shogun found an attribute that made the animations smoother.
But given the chance, I think VC was on the cusp of making their MLB title as polished as their NBA games.
If only...
