Stupid lob throws on DP attempts!!!

Never really had an issue til tonite. Twice on a ball hit to my first baseman the second baseman lobbed it to first costing me a dp. Throw meter was preloaded and full. Second one cost me the game!!!

because this game is rigged and you were destined to lose that game. I once was fielding, there were 2 outs and a couple runners on,(I think i was up by 2 or so runs, late in the game) the computer hit a a pop up to left field, i move my fielder to where the game told me to, and the ball just lands on the ground right next to him, all runners scored and i lost the game

Does anyone know if this kind stuff happened in 08 please (CPU deciding which game you lose sometimes etc...) ? I know I read somewhere that 09 had a cheating AI so Im not considering that one tbh

I just want to play Dynasty/Franchise so I thought 08 would be a good choice since its pretty cheap.

I started getting lob throws when I made defensive positioning adjustments to individual players. It seemed to mess up how my team shifted as a whole in double play opportunities. Have you been using individual defensive positioning shifts?

Have you ever seen in real life a player make a throw that was not as hard and strong as it should have been? Yes, of course you have. Now read this carefully, read it twice if you need to .... have you ever considered the possibility that the players in this game are not perfect? And/or that the graphic programming in this game is not perfect? In other words, the game may INTEND to show that a player has trouble getting the ball out of his glove, or has a loose grip on the ball, or whatever ... and he makes a weak throw for some reason.

What I would love to see ... a post where someone says "I keep turning double play after double play against the AI. Shouldn't these get botched once in a while?" !!!!

Or a post where someone says "I'm winning game after game. How come the game keeps 'cheating' for me to win?" Oddly we only hear from people who apparently aren't winning enough.

In the big picture, this is the same issue I have posted about in other threads. There is randomness programmed into this game, and there are player ratings that affect results. Just because you pre-load perfectly DOES NOT MEAN you will make a perfect throw. Sorry, if you want a game where your button-presses are 100 PERCENT DETERMINATIVE of the result, you are playing the wrong game.

I think you are right about that.

What I would like to see instead of filling up the meter though is simply limiting it so you cant fill the whole thing which would mean he is unable to make the throw so strong for whatever reason (im sure it wouldnt be so hard to program). Isntead the game is making the impression of cheating.

I actually havent seen the ****ed up DP's that much. I started noticing the game forcing my players into errors (not really game errors) tho, like forgetting to step on the base when catching a ball etc..

Yup, seen it quite a few times already and I absolutely hate it, hardly ever saw it in 09.

See I thought this as well but the replay doesnt show anything to indicate this.

On the two I had, the first baseman covered first on one and the pitcher covered first on the other. Both were there waiting for the throw to arrive in plenty of time.

It was just frustrating cuz the base were loaded and I thought I had the inning ending DP, just to see my guy lob the throw to first and the guy being safe just barely. I never saw it before so for it to happen twice in the same game, where I lost 1-0 was especially frustrating.

I believe it has to do with the runner going into 2nd for the take out slide.

I thought that too CB but on the replay my 2B was never close to getting takin out and the throw was clearly uninterupted. One of them was my SS and the other time it happened was my 2B.

What is the defensive rating of your 2nd baseman Rondo? I am only asking because I rarely see this, but when I do it is almost always made by Rosoles, whether he is playing SS or 2B. His fielding is not that great, plus he is playing his secondary position(s), thus making him an even worse fielder. Perhaps this is the case, or perhaps not.

On the pop up issue, it is strange in that your fielder gets in place, but then is unable to move no matter what you do and thus drops the pop up. This has only happened to me a few times and I think always to Daric Barton who sucks at pop ups so I thought it was fitting. I just wish they had charged an error on it though.

yeah..but I think the game interprets it sometimes, as though for whatever reason the 2B/SS get "distracted/interrupted" by the runner. Not sure why, but I've seen it a time or two, and thats what I've attributed it to.

I am not sure but it did happen to my 2nd baseman Joe Inglett whose secondary position is 2nd base. The other one happened to Alcides Escobar who should be ranked pretty dang good as the SS.
