because this game is rigged and you were destined to lose that game. I once was fielding, there were 2 outs and a couple runners on,(I think i was up by 2 or so runs, late in the game) the computer hit a a pop up to left field, i move my fielder to where the game told me to, and the ball just lands on the ground right next to him, all runners scored and i lost the game

I've had the lob throw happen to me but it's very rare also. It's not something that happen constantly though! I'm personally enjoying this game!

My theory is based on the rating of the shortstop not the second baseman and if I anticipate the throw to second too early. Just an observation of my play style.

Does anyone know if this kind stuff happened in 08 please (CPU deciding which game you lose sometimes etc...) ? I know I read somewhere that 09 had a cheating AI so Im not considering that one tbh

I just want to play Dynasty/Franchise so I thought 08 would be a good choice since its pretty cheap.

Yes, Unfortunately. Playing 08 right now, and the cpu induced BS has gone up by a factor of 10 in the last month of the season. I WAS in the playoff race, but now at 78-69 and 4.0 back of the wildcard, I'm pretty much $crewed.

There is no "comeback" code in this game, or whatever people want to refer to it as,
"cheat", "cpu induced". etc., etc., etc.

For years we asked for a tougher game. We got it. There are enough levels (sliders) that this game can be made to pretty much fit what you want. '08 was easy to play out of the box. I had a problem that it was just a slugfest for me, but was able to find some fixes that made it better for me. If you don't want a real challenge, then stay clear of 09/10. It takes all your attention, that's for sure.

Look at my last game in the franchise thread. I should have thrown my controller through a window (but no video game would make me do that, lol), but when I got done with the game I was satisfied with the loss. It was intense, I lost.

You have to be totally immersed in '10.

I think a lot of this has to do with WHEN you actually load the throwing meter. For example, say you're attempting to receive the ball with your 2B and throw to first. If you load well before the 2Bs feet are set, he's going to attempt a quick release, meaning there will be less behind the throw. I think everyone can agree that you can't throw as hard if both feet aren't set; legs play a major part in throw strength. If you wait closer to when he receives the ball and his feet are set, then there will be more behind the throw as he'll put wait on the back foot and use his legs to generate more power for the throw. It's the same principle as fielding a ground ball and throwing. If you load the meter early, the fielder is going to try to get rid of the ball quickly and not wait to set his feet. If you wait to load until your player is about to receive the ball, he'll set his feet and throw with more power. The most obv example of this is when your SS charges slightly. If you load immediately after the ball is hit, the SS will field and quickly throw the ball to first, mid-charge. If you wait until he is about to field, he'll set his feet and make the throw. How full you have the meter plays no part in this.

I wish I had taken pictures of my box scores to show you very consistent cpu rallies occurring in the 7th/8th innings througout the season. Never fails. I change my strategies all the time, but get the same results. They score just as many runs as they need to take the lead. It does happen.

Sorry, it's NOT in the game.

Look at all the posts in the franchise threads and how could people be having such a great time with the game, even keeping a lead, even having winning records. I can show you all my scores, as a matter of fact, I've posted them here someplace. Below is one of my season games.

Intensity of this game continues to amaze me. After losing my first game of the series in NY against the Mets.......I had tied it in the 9th and lost it in the bottom of the 9th (I played this game against a friend).

NATS 3-7-0
METS 4-14-0

won the 2nd with a nail biter 5-3, verses the CPU. Everything happened in this game

NATS 5-10-0
METS 3-13-0

8th inning double play got me out of a rally here. Runners on 1st and 3rd.

Brewers 2 up on the Cards (Pittsburgh is 18-16, 3 back)

Redsox/Yankees tied (booooo) Bluejays only 1.5 out though, so still hope.
Twins 2.5 up over Detroit
As 1.5 up on Seattle

Worst team so far are the Marlins at 10-23.

How is this possible if the game is fixed with a comeback code? By what you are saying I should have lost this game. How could I be 20-14 (even though I've lost 3 out of my last 4 now, so 21-17). Is the game tough, yep. Perhaps you need to do some tweaking to get it more in line with the results you want to see.

A friend of mine has been feeling the same way lately. What he does now is saves just before he thinks a big inning is gonna happen then plays it out. It's so ridiculous imo, but if he doesn't get the desired result then he quits out and restarts the inning and continues this pattern until he gets what he wants.

It's a bit much, considering his ERA is hovering around the 1.90 mark in 30 games or so and he's "strung" together 8 wins in a row.

whatever, I beat him handedly when I go over there. Can't reset on me fool.

Are we talking about the same game? I was talking about 08 to the guy who was considering buying it. Maybe I misread your post, if I did, I apologize. I haven't even started playing 10 yet (145 games into my 08). Can't wait to start though, hearing really good things.

If so.....there was NEVER any hint of CPU induced things in '08. I don't think I EVER heard anyone raise a question about that in 08. Anyway.....playball.
