Controls your release point on jump shots.
You can adjust it to what feels more natural for you.
Does the option kinda "moves" the green window? For example, if I find myself shooting "slightly late" then does the setting allow me to make "slightly late" releases my new "green window"?

That should be correct.
Its good if you have to deal with lag .

I guess this somewhat confirms that they know and have known that players deal with online lag in their game. Now all they need is a reaction time setting for the online player movement. It's almost like I have to predict my opponents moves and also on offense do my dribble moves and shots ahead of time and wait for the animations to begin and release early. I'm speaking as for previous 2K games on current and old gens.
I don't know about 23 but given the track record the input lag is coming.
Before you say it's my internet and setup or anyone else's, Google it, Reddit it. There are even old threads on OS about it dating back a decade or so.

Have never had issues with input delay when shooting. Ever. Dribbling a little bit but never shooting.

It'll be tough to find what's perfect, so I kept mine at slightly late. Some shots are really fast and some really slow, so no matter what is chosen, you'll still find shots that mess you up.

So the releases aren't based on the flick of the wrist during the animation? I've played with the shot meter off, and I've always released the shot button based on how the animation plays out. But with this new option, it seems like we no longer have to watch the animation if there's a global setting that determines when the shot should be released. Can someone tell me if I'm wrong?

Maybe yes and no? I find slightly late is closest to flick of the wrist time, especially when shooting freethrows.

2KTutes posted a video where he showed that the shooting animation speed doesn't change. The option just moves the green window. I watch the wrist too, but I consistently shoot slightly late or late if it's not an excellent release. For me, I would select "Late".
